Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Fuck me. Downing, Carroll and Jones shouldn't be any where near there. Lennon, Crouch and Richards should be.

How on earth is someone like Downing still getting picked? Not only is he an embarrassingly ordinary footballer, he has a complete lack of balls as well. At least players like Jones and Carroll have a bit of English bottle about them.

From that line up I would go:

------------------------- Hart -------------------------

Johnson ------- Cahill ------ Terry ----------- Cole

----------------------- Parker -----------------------

--------------- Gerrard ------ Barry -----------------

Milner ------------------------------------------ Young

------------------------ Carroll ------------------------

I think Jones is good for his versatility

Stewart Downing - enough said.

Phil Jones - abysmal at RB, been average at CB. Should have been Richards.

John Terry - how he hasn't played himself out of the team i dont know. He's been terrible recently, well out of form.

Ibra will have a field day in our first game.

Once again an actual football manager has chosen the best right back over a group of forum posters who are all 100% convinced he's wrong. How many times is this going to happen before you see that Micah Richards isn't that amazing?

------------------------- Hart -------------------------

Johnson ------- Cahill ------ Lescott ----------- Cole

----------------------- Parker -----------------------

--------------- Gerrard ------ Barry -----------------

Milner ------------------------------------------ Young

------------------------ Carroll ------------------------

I wouldn't play Parker, Milner and Barry at the same time.

I guess Adam Johnson or some tricky winger would be better than Milner there, but now that I look in the squad I can't really find one except for Young.

------------------------- Hart -------------------------

Johnson ------- Cahill ------ Terry ----------- Cole

--------------- Gerrard ------ Barry -----------------

Milner ------------------------------------------ Young

It'll be a pain watching that side

Is that for until Rooney comes back from the ban?

Because I think

------------------------- Hart -------------------------

Johnson ------- Cahill ------ Lescott ----------- Cole

--------------------Parker -- Barry----------------------

Milner ------------------Rooney----------------- Young

------------------------ Carroll --------------------------

Could be alright.

I'd go

Hart
Johnson - Cahill - Lescott - Cole
Barry - Lampard
Gerrard - Rooney - Young
Welbeck

And swap Rooney for Ox and put him on the right, or maybe Welbeck on the flank and Carroll up front.

No way Terry and Parker don't start though.

We play best when Parker plays. Gerrard and Barry play well together. You can only have Johnson at RB if you have a work horse in front of him who will cover his runs forward.

I meant to put Terry instead of Lescott. Forgot Cahill was at Chelsea now (woops) and having that pairing together makes sense.

Swap Cole for Baines and Carroll for Rooney then we have a team.

So is Richards. Jones has been mediocre for most of the season, despite his enthusiasm.

From the selection we've got I'd play:

Hart
Johnson-Cahill-Lescott-Baines
Parker-Lampard
Chamberlain-Rooney-Young
Welbeck

We have two games without Rooney. We could technically be out of the tournament by the time he comes back. Of course I'm not including him in the lineup!

That lineup is for France.

You forgot Terry our based CAPTAIN!

We will definitely be playing two upfront Welbeck & Carroll.

WTF is Cleverley! :(

he has picked some woefully out of form liverpool players, of course you're pleased.

As far as the Liverpool players included go, Gerrard starting 12 games managed as many goals and assists as Carroll, Downing and Johnson combined. 7.

He's played 10 games all season, shouldn't be in there. I think what's good about Welbeck and Carroll is the element of surprise they'll have. They're not well known internationally by those that don't play in the PL, so I can see a Ukranian defence finding them a bit of a handful

Well one thing you're definitely wrong about is how to spell his name.

Other than that, you're a little wrong - you all think he's absolute trash when that's not the case. He's not incredible but he's one of the few natural wide players England has available. He puts in a good shift in international games and works as a part of the team.

He has had a TORRID season for Liverpool. That much really can't be argued - but you can't base an international tournament on league form alone. If you were to look at it congruently - his form in the cup games, which matches up with the Euros as its a knockout competition, his form has been quite good. And once again, he's SHOWN this year and last why he works well in the England squad.

This is what we are reduced to. 'They might trouble the Ukranian defence!'

Jesus wept.

Well from that squad I'd go for the following team

----------Hart----------

Johnson Cahill Terry Cole

----- Barry Parker -----

Ox ---- Gerrard ---- Young

---------- Rooney ----------

Honestly not sure why Downing has been selected if this selection is based on recent form.

Well according to the Guardian

Downing seems the diciest call, what with him having endured a ropey season in which he had 72 shots without scoring a Premier League goals. He also didn't have an assist to his name. But those stats can be misleading: Liverpool put in more crosses than any other team in the Premier League and Downing delivered a lot of good ones that went unused because of Kenny Dalglish's occasionally quirky tactics, whereby there was often no one on hand to meet the crosses.

Fuck, I forgot about Carrick. How can a has-been like Gerrard get in there over him?

Even though Sturridge and Lennon weren't particularly impressive towards the end of the season, I'd still have preferred them over the safe and ponderous options that were selected.

But I guess safe and ponderous is Hodgson's MO.

All of you blasting the Downing selection would you take as a backup left winger instead of him? It's always been a weak spot for England.

I can only think of Adam Johnson, and there's a case to be made there, but at least Downing plays constantly for his side - despite his terrifying stats from this past season.

England should try their youngsters instead of picking the same players that never really worked well together. Only put Rooney, Gerrard, Terry from the old guard.

to be fair, they're both quite bad.
