If he had a buyout clause in the 30s, he'd be a Chelsea player right now. He wanted to join Chelsea, and if they had met a buyout clause, Tottenham would be forced to let Modric listen to Chelsea's offer.

Exactly. We've seen that none of the interested clubs are willing to pay more than £15-20m so Arsenal's wacko valuation means jack shit.

Switzerland Olympic footballer expelled for alleged Twitter racism

Switzerland's Michel Morganella has been expelled from the Olympics for posting a racist message on Twitter.

The Swiss Olympic team chief, Gian Gilli, said Morganella, a member of the football squad, was being stripped of his Olympic accreditation before Switzerland's final group match against Mexico on Wednesday.

He "discriminated against, insulted and violated the dignity of the South Korea football team as well as the South Korean people," Gilli said through a translator.

Morganella posted an offensive and threatening message aimed at South Korean people after Switzerland lost 2-1 to South Korea on Sunday.

A spokesman for the Swiss Olympic team said Morganella had accepted the decision and had apologised to the South Korea team and South Korean people.

The Swiss newspaper Le Matin published images of a tweet from the player's account [at]morgastoss. The account has since been deleted.

The 23-year-old defender is the second Olympic athlete kicked off a team for offensive Twitter comments.

Greece dropped the triple jumper Voula Papachristou last week after she posted a comment mocking African immigrants.

I'm amazed that tackle from Adam on Bale has caused so much fuss, it was a bad challege, but Adam's made many bad challenges in his career - he's shit at tackling - he doesn't have some sort of vendetta against Bale like he's implying, that's just getting ridiculous. Bale's going on as if his career's on the line, but if he was so injured, why did he manage to play on until half time? Oh, and he's not exactly an angel himself:

What does a gif of Bale flopping over have to do with anything? Every player has done that. Not every player has gone into nasty challenge from behind in a friendly game. If that had been one of our players tackling Lucas the Liverpool fans would be up in arms. It's not as if Adam is a good player like Suarez. All this fiasco does is remind people how far Liverpool have fallen, that a player like Adam is anywhere near the Liverpool XI.

Adam's a tit tbh. Trip him up if you must, no need to go in studs first at all. I'd be ecstatic if he played for one of our rivals, such an obvious weak-spot to target

It has to do with exactly what I said - he's no angel himself. Criticising Adam's character in his whinging to the press, when the point could well be made that he also needs to look at his own - diving, and admitting that he gets players sent off by doing so. And every player hasn't dived, that's just ridiculous.

What's that got to do with anything? It's hardly a "fiasco", Bale has just gone whining to the press instead of sorting it out with Adam himself or getting the PFA involved if he was really that convinced that Adam has a vendetta against him (hint: he doesn't).

In other news. Saw on twitter that Carroll is going on loan to West Ham for 2 million and then a view to buy for 17 million if they stay up.

edit 2: Not worth it IMO. West Ham are numpties to spend so much on him.
