Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Meireles would be a horrendous signing. He's awful and almost 30, another Jenas.

Meireles to Tottenham would be a great signing. Amazing player.

in all seriousness, I just saw that Harry Redknapp and Mick McCarthy will be MOTD pundits this year. Every week, at that.

Here is Liverpool's new signing vs Olympiakos. Terrible music, but oh well.

Fantastic dribbling. Not sure what to expect but if he can manage to beat players like that in the PL (I know he won't), then we could have a great little player on our side.

Thought we'd finally got rid of that fucker.

I don't mind Harry, just think he's very unprofessional as a manager.

Crazy that Southampton actually paid 12 mil for Ramirez. Actually I think at the beginning of the window, thats exactly the price I said he'd go for. Looking forward to watching him. He's got those free kicks down for sure - he could be a very shrewd fantasy purchase.

I hated going to the gym and seeing those 'gym guys', you know who I mean. The guys who have incredible bodies & all they seem to do is stand over you and talk. Makes you feel like shit.

They're always hilarious. "HEY MAN I HAVE LOW SELF-ESTEEM SO I LIFT AND DRINK PROTEIN LIKE PORNSTARS SWALLOW PROTEIN LET ME VALIDATE MYSELF BY IMPOSING MYSELF UPON YOU PAY ATTENTION TO ME PLS"

We call them Pussy-Pumpers round these parts.

Don't know if it's embarrasing, but this pic of mine suited up "pissing" on Canaletas (where Barcelona celebrate titles) is somehow one of my top pics.

Great news about Mick McCarthy being on MOTD (if true). Easily one of the most likeable men in English football.

Anyway:

Matt Spiro ‏@mattspiro
L'Equipe reporting what i said three months ago: #AFC want Montpellier skipper Yanga-Mbiwa but have been denied permission to open talks

Plays CB & RB, one of the best defenders in Ligue 1 (probably the best after Thiago Silva). Contract is up next summer so I could see us getting something done towards the end of the window.

News in regards to Liverpool's stadium. Looks like they're planning to stay at Anfield and redevelop it. This article outlines a few key giveaways, mainly that some houses nearby the stadium have been marked for demolition, and there are plans underway for a new hotel next to Anfield.

Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, was renovated by FSG (Liverpool owners) some years ago and they did a wonderful job in keeping its tradition in tact while adding new seats, facilities and amenities.

This is exellent news.

Well, what's all this idle speculation?

Well now that is was forwarded to a mod... What was said?

It's not really all that salacious.

I was talking to someone - who has not even posted in this topic - through PMs. They mentioned in the course of the back-and-forth that they had seen my name mentioned on Twitter. I was mildly bemused by the idea that someone would actually be discussing me, so I asked about it and got a link. It was just idle speculation about my having possibly banned stupei (nope) and a bit of complaining; really no different than any of the complaints or idle speculation I read on the board itself. It wasn't as if they were trying to get anyone in trouble; I was just curious and asked about it.

Oh, and I don't even have a Twitter account. I update my Facebook status about one and a half times a year; what would I do with a Twitter account?

In other and more important news, I was reading the Wiki pages on various footie related stuff when I came across this in the Formations page:

In the first international game, Scotland against England on 30 November 1872, England played with seven or eight forwards in a 1–1–8 or 1–2–7 formation, and Scotland with six, in a 2–2–6 formation. For England, one player would remain in defence, picking up loose balls, and one or two players would hang around midfield and kick the ball upfield for the other players to chase. The English style of play at the time was all about individual excellence and English players were renowned for their dribbling skills. Players would attempt to take the ball forward as far as possible and only when they could proceed no further, would they kick it ahead for someone else to chase. Scotland surprised England by actually passing the ball among players. The Scottish outfield players were organised into pairs and each player would always attempt to pass the ball to his assigned partner. Ironically, with so much attention given to attacking play, the game ended in a 0–0 draw.

I was mentioning it to charlequin and he said it reminded him of this sketch. And I hope the Scots have never let it go that they figured out passing before the English.

Really hope Mumei isn't trying to read through this whole thread after this.

Success!

All that was to make him stop reading the thread.

I read PopGAF and enjoy it. You'll need to try harder than that.

I deleted most of my embarrassing photos when my students found my Facebook page and started "liking" all the pictures of me chugging vodka from the bottle on the dance floor or passed out drunk with a beer bottle in my face. :lol

There are actually more Scottish coaches than English coaches in the Premier League at the moment, so I don't think its been forgotten as such!

If you're interested in the evolution of tactics try giving 'Inverting the Pyramid' a read.

Nah, he's pretty underrated. Chelsea was just a really bad move for him, should have stayed at Pool.

He left Liverpool because they spent all summer trying to ship him out and then when we came in thought it would be good to work under AVB. He got a CL/FA cup out of it and I he played quite well I thought, wouldn't be devastated if he went to spurs though we need to sell some midfielders.

What a cock up on TalkSPORT.

Basically to win this competition and the prize the guy has to listen to a clip of commentary and then guess the goal scorer.

"Oh my word, out of nowhere, a sublime finish by Papiss Cisse"

Yup that's right, they left the name in the clip. So then the presenters are like "WUT do we do?" And the producer decides to take it to a tie break.

The guy then goes on to lose.

He would have cost way less than £50m on the last day of the window if we were trying to ship him out all summer..

He was the one who handed in a transfer request

Talking about Meireles not Torres.

Meireles was class both at Liverpool and Chelsea. He works well with AVB. Spurs would be lucky to have him.

Plus him and Bale and Assou-Ekotto would be the perfect trio.

Photoshopped... Can see the rubber stamping around the legs.

Maybe it is, but we have all seen someone just like that image. They were usually wearing track pants, even in the middle of summer so their shame is not exposed to the world.

I just laugh when I see them and thank my lucky stars that it means there won't be any competition for the squat rack. If you aren't doing squats at them gym, you are missing the point.

Gaston Ramirez joins Southampton for €19m. €13m to Bologna and €6m to Penarol.

@tancredipalmeri: Ramirez to Gazzetta:"Southampton only club that wanted me for real.Did my research, their fans are great.I still dunno a single teammate"
