He was definitely a liability for that period around the new year when we had to play him. I think he could still end up being very good though, he just needed a loan or two. I would not be surprised if 3-4 years from now he's making a big money move back to the PL.

This is really a great situation for him -- fresh start, easier competition as far as opponents are concerned and he should get right into the first team after a period of acclimation.

We've lost these league goals::

Maxi - 4
Carroll - 4
Bellamy - 6
Kuyt - 2

We've replaced these with promising youngsters in Raheem, Borini and Yesil (if he even plays), and a gamble on Assaidi. We really needed a goal scorer. We're completely reliant on Suarez getting 20+ goals in the leauge now, with the 4 players mentioned getting 15-20 between them.

Still a hope of brining signing someone in January, but some horrible games between now and then. Top 4 could easily be out of sight by Christmas

As potentially devastating as a Dembele, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Sandro midfield could be, there's no one to dictate tempo. Moutinho man, come on.

It's definitely going to have to be a case of everybody chipping in from over the park. Suarez is the main goal threat in that team now...and well, we all know about his finishing - and not just that, he doesn't really play as a CF.

Looking through the team, there doesn't even seem to be that many goals from midfield. Gerrard aside nobody strikes you as a player who can go on a good run and get some goals.

Anyway, we'll see how it pans out - definitely looks light though. Rodgers said as much earlier today so he's probably pissed.

One obvious positive to Dempsey (if he plays) is at least now someone will get on the end of Bale's crosses.

Oh and a big turnout the US tour next year. I'm sure that will please the chairman.

Dempsey is not worthy unlike Carroll/Suarez/Downing/Henderson/Adam....
£6 million is Charlie Adam 2011 money, and there's no way Liverpool should be paying more than Charlie Adam 2012 money for Dempsey.

Dempsey will be great. He doesn't have the passion of VDV but his robotic style is just as effective. He can play across an attacking 3 so will fit in perfectly.

Not desperate for money but not in a great position. Falling down the league, no CL, struggling to keep hold of players and attract news ones.
