Football Thread 2014/15 |OT9| - How the Snitch stole all the banter

Why not?

The award is for the best football player in any given year. Which player was better than Ronaldo?

You don't seriously think his breaking of both the La Liga and CL records (along with his performance in the World Cup, carrying his team through the group stage with a shitload of assists/creating chances) qualifies him?

Isco getting a red against his former team hahaha. At least he gets a standing ovation, very nice from the fans.

You know whats funny?

The Manchester United Facebook Account still posts pictures of former Ronaldo events or goals :lol

The thirst is real.
Probably because there hasn't been any United player of significance since Ronaldo left. I do like Welbeck though, but that has more to do with how mediocre Giroud is and how bad Sanogo is.

Bale won Madrid a Copa del Rey and la Decima, he's clearly not a flop.

I just wasted $600 on a new PC, I feel bad.

In one season, Bale has proven he's worth the money Real Madrid spent on him.

Whether or not he won them the Champions League, he was a crucial part of a team that did so. Real Madrid have spent hundreds of millions (probably over a billion) over the last decade trying to win a champions league. Every pound of that spent was worth it for them.

He's a class player, one of the very few in world football that would be worth that price, relatively speaking.

The record was coming. Everyone knew it. Scoring 10 goals in 12 games in La Liga isn't amazing.

Presumably you're talking about Messi!

His breaking of the records have been because of the work he's done in every season he's played though, hasn't it?

Individually, Ronaldo's had the better 2014. Messi's probably been second, third, fourth at the very very worst (an average year for him is an astounding year for any other footballer), but because the only way we judge Messi and Ronaldo is by superhero measures, Ronaldo edged it.

How is the goal that put them ahead more important than the goal that equalized? In the 90+1 no less?

Because one equalised the match and one won the match. They were both very important, and we can play chicken and egg all day, but only one was the winner.

Genuinely not surprised by that result at all. Chelsea being talked up too much this week by all corners of the globe, Sunderland who pulled that out of their arse and will probably lose 3-1 against whoever they're playing next week because they're that weird a team.

City on Wednesday (3 pts), Liverpool at the weekend (customary 0 points from Anfield where we are consistently fucked over by referees)

Remember when you all joked about "Catterpirlo"

who the fuck is laughing now

if my auntie had bollocks she'd be my uncle

The point being that they didn't win 2-1, but 4-1 so Bale didn't score the winner. He score the one that put them ahead, not the winner. Considering 3 more goals were scored, Ramo's goal was by far the most important one.

The whole Bale thing with the CL final reads like U.K media pipe shit.

That is the winner. It's the goal that won the game. If it had been 4-2 then Marcelo's goal is the one that separated the teams. If it was 4-3 then Ronaldo's would have been.

This is simple

If you win a game, the goal that put you ahead is the winner...
