Was that tearing in Watch Dogs or just a bad stream? Thought I saw someone link a video without the tearing.

Sony keep on dropping the ball when it comes to uploading their videos onto the PS3 store in the suitable resolution*

I couldn't see any of the finer detail in the Killzone demo, aside from the vistas at the beginning and end

*haven't checked the US account yet

The tearing in Watch Dogs was disappointing as fuck. vsync really isn't that expensive any more.

I think when you play the final version of the game on the final build of the next gen consoles there won't be any screentearing. That's the least we can expect from a new gen right?

Also one thing you should realise is the 8GB GDDR5 RAM was a late addition. The games shown were most likely running on early 2-4GB specs.

@Arnie, I can see why people think Killzone is boring, although I enjoy them. Guerilla are a ways behind Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Sony Santa Monica and Quantic Dream though in every area aside from technical know-how imo
2 was alright, and had some decent ideas, but 3 was an absolute, unequivocal mess.

The ending couple of hours and the multiplayer had me, frankly, appalled that I'd paid money for it.
Durango/Xbox 720 will have the same amount.
Wasn't it rumoured to be GDDR3?

Also got a feeling that the Live overhead will be much larger on Durango. We'll see.

Watch Dogs was the only time I noticed tearing.

You would hope so.

Yes, but definitely closer to the PS4 compared to the previous 4 GB rumour.

The rumour was the PS4 had 4gigs DDR5, Durango 8gigs DDR3.

The multiplayer in KZ3 is so good. I get not everyone will enjoy it as much as I do but to call it a mess is hyperbole.

The Watch Dogs screen tearing was from the stream (no screen tearing on videos now), it was running on a PC also.

If Sony can change their specs twice now, and surprise everyone with 8gb of GDDr5 which sounded impossible before, then there's a possibility MS might change some things too.

They better.

What would prevent MS from switching to DDR5 as well? Incompatibilities with their CPU/GPU or something?

I've never played a Killzone game personally. Can't be arsed. The only standard FPS I play are yearly COD releases (I've been bad about this though.. never beat MW3 or BLOPS2) and the occasional Halo (Reach only this gen).

Sell it, buy:

Uncharted:DF, 2 & 3
God of War Collection & 3
Heavy Rain
Demon's Souls
Infamous 1 & 2
MGS4
Killzone 2
Team Ico collection
Jak collection
GT5

I have played Uncharted trilogy, Heavy Rain, Killzone 2, Demon's (need to get it again though) and the Jak games. Oh and Ico Collection.

I have MGS4 waiting and Infamous 1 (couldnt get into this though). Really need to get my arse in gear and play GoW 3 though, heard so many good things.

Deep Down was my favorite thing from the floppy conference.

It's always a question of money and goals. If MS really is intended on shoving Kinect 2.0 down the throat of gamers, and they care more about media content than games then...to be honest they don't really need 8Gb of GDDr5.

Coming from Killzone 2 I thought it was awful. Absolutely awful.

COD clone, done poorly.
Rumours of Kinect 2.0 + OS hogging 3GB of RAM. Makes me want to barf tbh.
Aye that sounds terrible.

Don't even have the space for Kinect, and even if I did I couldn't care less about it.

Calling bullshit on that Deep Down video. Don't reckon it'll look like that in real time, when we get our hands on it. If it does, then wow.

I've never been that interested in FPS but Destiny has me interested.

Can't wait for Destiny. Even sweeter that PS4 gets exclusive content. It's going to be a blast with friends.

Even if you're not a fan of FPS games, the whole co-operative experience should be great fun.

Wouldn't be surprised. There wasn't much else going on in that aside from the character and the Dragon.

I'm disappointed they didn't call it Dragon's Dogma 2 though. That's basically what it seems to be.

Well MS did put in that extra 256 MB of RAM in the 360 just for Gears of War so it's not out of the question.

Said this also, the movements and animations look too cutscene esque to be actual gameplay.

Hopefully we're proved wrong though but I have my doubts.

If Xbox are going to heavily focus on Kinect 2.0 then I am afraid to say I'm done with it and I'll be switching to PS4. I'm thinking a PS4+Vita set up would be better anyway, no one I play with really goes on Xbox Live much anymore and I feel like I am maturing as gamer, selective over what games I play and enjoy taking my time. Gone are the days of playing everything that comes out!

True, but that's when Xbox 360 was coming out after the Xbox and the Xbox division at MS was run by people who cared about the core and about graphics.

Every single rumor and leak so far, and comments from a dude who worked on the audio chip for Durango points to the higher ups at MS not being focused on delivering the best hardware. Mark Reign from Epic on gametrailers alluded to only Sony answering the call on "more power". So far.

Think they need to at this point.

Really don't know what to expect from Microsoft. They need to blow me away to match Sony's unveiling.

I have somehow managed to never play with a Kinect game on Xbox... Would clearly push me to PS4 if they are trying to focus on more Kinect shit.

MGR really falls apart in the last two chapters. The last boss fight in particular is so fucking ridiculous.

The big #gamechanger for me is the Gaikai streaming. "Try before you buy" on full games with a click of the button is just waaaaaaaay too good. If Microsoft can't match these features then they're in trouble IMO.

Seems like Sony purchasing Gaikai for $500 million or whatever was worth it.

Watch Dogs is totally inspired by Person of interest! The concepts are too similar.

Bah, that's the kind of stuff that I would bet on MS having. Shit I would bet on MS planning on having it far ahead of Sony.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Sony bought Gakkai last summer and now in February it's already a major part of the console.

Didn't hear about that (only just caught up on everything) but that sounds fantastic. Ease of use is exactly what I'm looking for for Next Gen. Try a game with the press of a button, share something cool at the press of a button. These are the sort of things I care about.

Hard to say. I don't think that many people care about demos personally. I know I never play them. I was a big fan of the sharing and ability to "hop in" to someone else's game and help them get past a bit. That seems really cool and unique. That stuff is definitely going to be a part of the $50-60 a year online sub though.

Deep Down looks great but I don't believe it to be real time either. If it is.. wowza. Watch_Dogs really captures Chicago so well -- I'm quite excited to play that.

Sorry but it's dumb as fuck to say KZ3 is anything like CoD. It's a better KZ2, that's it. They got rid of some of the shit features in KZ2 multiplayer and people think that makes it like CoD? Gimme a break.

Deep Down looked CG. Doubt it was real.

Yep and also it works like Steam now where you can download a fraction of the game and begin playing while the rest downloads in the background.

Can't wait for next-gen. Current generation consoles feel very archaic and cumbersome by now.

Hard to say. I don't think that many people care about demos personally.

I don't play demos either because:

1) They take ages to download and I'm hurting for space

2) They're usually poorly done. I'd prefer to just play the first hour of a game rather than some random part of it.

Gaikai seems to be correcting both of those issues for me. I think it'll be very popular.

I think the problem is that games are becoming too expensive to buy for the average gamer so having the chance to try them out with the click of a button is fantastic. I mean 2 years ago I litereally spent £80-150 a month on games, sometimes more depending on SE/CEs. Now I spend litereally £0, I have a PS Plus subscription that I get games from and I rent using my blockbuster account if needed. I buy the odd game such as Fifa as I know I'll get my moneys worth out of it but I just can't afford to go and buy a new game every month now.

Which is why I am seriously thinking a PS4 + Vita set up would set me up well, I already have about 10 Vita games ready thanks to my PS Plus account too.

Plays nothing like Killzone 2 in that the gun handling is very loose and sporadic.

Pointless dissection, though. The game just wasn't fun enough, didn't feel at all unique, and didn't improve on Killzone 2's strong points.

Yeah the Gaikai stuff was the best imo. Like my brother said to me last night imagine scoring a screamer on Fifa and just hitting the share button.

Even your friends can watch you play the game and if you get stuck they can take control and do that part for you. Sounds fantastic.
