Probably true but it's not like he has one pair of boots. He definitely would have asked the kitman to give him those specifically when getting dressed to go out for the ceremony.

Interesting. New rumor that Beckham will be involved in the NYC MLS club that City are likely to announce soon.

Manchester United’s iconic former player David Beckham could be part of the Manchester City set-up next year, according to the latest stories coming out of the Middle East.
The rumours, which seem to have some substance, suggest that Beckham who announced his retirement from football today is being earmarked to lead a bid, funded primarily by Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour , to create a new MLS franchise in New York.

The plan to create a City-MLS team has already been widely reported.

After a year and a half of deliberations, MLS bosses have decided they want Abu Dhabi money – a whopping $100m just to get involved – to front up their 20th ,and potentially most lucrative, franchise.

Yeah, it's almost a certainty that the Cosmos won't be in the MLS. The location they picked for their stadium made it an impossibility based on Don Garber/MLS' requirements.

The rumors have suggested that NYCFC will be announced around the time of the City-Chelsea friendly in NYC which is happening on 5/25. Some local politicians were against the idea of a UAE-backed ownership.. maybe this partnership could clear that up.

Yeah, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers are trying to join the MLS as well although my local team, Orlando City, is much farther along in the process. Beckham has been rumored to be interested in getting the Miami team off the ground.

The Florida House of Representatives failed to pass a measure that would have allowed sports teams to use some tax rebates for stadium upgrades so Orlando City lost out on some funding that would have gone towards the new stadium. The City of Orlando and the team are looking into alternatives to raise the extra $30m they need since the plan is to be officially announced as an MLS expansion team by the end of 2013... keeping my fingers crossed.
