Yup. If he wasn't 32, I'd say letting him go is a mistake after last season's return to form. It's the perfect time to get something before he declines for good.
He looked decent when he came on last night, and with Dortmund's longstanding interest you know he's got exceptional qualities.
I think for the right player we might spend something approaching that. I read that Gio is going to Villareal and I think Levy put in a 50% sell on clause when we sold him last summer. Sell Gomes, Parker, Naughton, we could probably have enough for Bernard and David Villa. That would be amazing.
I'm not worried about his physical stature being an issue, Lennon is also a midget but has no problems handling himself. Modric, Silva, Cazorla, midgets can have success in the PL. You need the technique but Bernard has got that.

It's genuinely galling to think we could've had both.
