Forza 7 |OT| The 7 you've been waiting for!

Nah you can use mods on endurance. You just couldn't on the race he was doing because it was a showcase with a borrowed car.

So what was that post earlier about the highest reward from an endurance race being currently around 350k? You should be able to get a bigger reward for doing a max length endurance race on Spa, Nordschleife or Le Mans.

I haven't done any regular endurance events myself so don't know the facts on them.

I just know that the reason the Spa event didn't let you use mods was because it was a showcase event. Whether the rule is a good thing, I'm not saying, but that's the reason, not because it was endurance.

Okay thanks for clarifying that anyway. :) I will test it myself on Tuesday. ;)

Hang on a second, are people saying that I cannot use my twenty-five 100% credit boost cards on endurance races?

I want to know exactly what game all these reviewer's have been playing.

This Forza 7 has no redeeming features whatsoever, more-so the Deluxe and Ultimate editions.

If Turn 10 want to do something about this then they need to do it now, at least say something.

It's too late for me as they have had my money, if this is the flagship game for the Xbox X I would be very concerned indeed.

How many non showcase endurance races are there?

In the five tiers I've unlocked there's only one showcase endurance event.

Meanwhile you can turn any regular event into an endurance by choosing the very long option. Then use the mod cards on them.

So I took two for the team and brought two 'lucky car crates' which have chance for a legendary car (wish they'd put the actual chance somewhere, if they were regulated gambling they'd have too.....) for 300'000cr each, and this is what I got..

Crate 1

A mod card worth 8,500cr
A suit, no cr value
A badge, no cr value
A 2017 Formula E worth 90'000cr

Total worth 98'500cr

Crate 2

A mod card worth 8'500cr
A suit, no cr value
A badge, no cr value
A Lotus 77 worth 235'000cr

Total worth 243'500cr

You'd have to be very lucky to break even cr wise, and if you aren't interested in badges or suits, your cr would be better spent elsewhere IMO.

By the way what's the cheapest loot box that gives you a chance to unlock a car (any car)?

I may end up doing only what was suggested on the previous page - buy only the cheapest boxes and use them on long / super long races.

That's not too bad then for people who prefer to do the longer races (like me).

It's those who actually enjoy doing the 2 lap rush to the front races at lower difficulty levels who will feel the pinch in this new system. So, the more casual players basically.

Other than the loot boxes the career mode seems to force you to open at the start I'm not going to touch them.

70k

I've been a bit lucky. The two top-tier 300k boxes I bought got me a BMW M3 Forza Edition and a Ford Escort Rally Forza Edition - both cars have permanent mods that earn you more XP and credits.

Probably the best value is the 50k mod card crate. Easily pays for itself quickly and boost your income well over.

I think the 70k basic crate will only give you up to 'rare' cars, and the 100k only up to 'super rare'

At those prices you're much better off saving your credits and buying the cars you actually want.

It will be interesting to see how this all meshes with the auction house once that is open.

The auction house will be full of cars that nobody wants and all the rarest cars will be picked up and modified by the legendary tuners and designers and they will put them up at huge starting bids.

Loot crates for cars is the lowest of the low especially as some cars seem to only be obtainable via loot crates.

That'll be the driving force, especially with limited run cars.

FTR, you don't get loot crates anywhere else, you can only buy them, there are no career rewarded crates, at least that I can see.

I bet they're going to raise minimum allowed starting bids and buy outs so that you won't be able to save too much money ignoring the main store. ;)

I don't see it as a problem. You can still get >90% cars for a much lower price and that's what counts for me. I got most of the cars in Horizon 3 from the AH, even unique ones like the Warthog.

23 lap endurance showrace complete. That was brutal. I'm not new to racing games but I usually ignore those sorts of things as I don't have it in me.

Took me 59 minutes. Best lap was 2:30:394. Yes I suck at these games.

Nice chunk of XP though(I am aware the 30 second test track spam would yield alot more in 59 minutes but that is far too boring).

So, these loot boxes are FM7's version of FH3's spins, or what? I liked spins.

They are worse, and in a lot of cases, more expensive versions of wheelspins. At least with the wheelspins you were guaranteed credits or a car, none of this cosmetic/mod shite.

I liked the wheelspins as well but it's now clear that it was just a test :(

Yes and no. You got wheelspins mostly from playing the game (and buying them by yourself wasn't a good idea unless there were some Horizion Edition cars available), you don't get any loot crates until you decide to buy them. It seems you also have to be smart by picking the right crates and calculate the chances of having a good return on your investment by yourself.

I'm actually still deciding between ignoring them to show a big middle finger to M$ and buying only the cheapest mod packs to make the grind less painful. ;p

Cheapest mod-only pack is 20K. I reckon the 30K version is the sweet spot. I definitely make many more credits by buying the 30K pack than I would if I hadn't bought them.

Yeah the max level crate doesn't seem worth it at all.

I've been buying 20k crates for mods and then using them on long races. Getting pretty good credit return.

So...the 69 Lap one would be almost 3 hours long...

I buy them for the fun of it really. I mean I’d never spend REAL money on them, but I do like the thrill of maybe getting a good car.

Plus, my 7th box or so gave me a Lotus Eleven, worth 600,000.

Sebring endurance in Forza 6 was over 3 hours if I remember correctly. And in rain. ;p

Yeah...as a person in it for the sole purpose of Forza Rewards...I’ll see if I the expansion packs will alleviate some of that gamerscore first. ;p

Unless I find a good Podcast to jam to.

Anyone know how to use own music in this game?

EDIT: Of Course...

”"Forza Motorsport 7" will let players use their personal playlists via OneDrive. We're excited to make this feature available at a later date. Stay tuned.”

...While various background music is currently in-game, for now, customization options are somewhat limited. In the meantime, we recommend using background audio support through the official applications for Spotify, Groove or Pandora on Xbox One.

Just found a funny bug in the tier 5 autocross event.

How many gates?

biKymhu.png

It didn't seem to cause any problems completing the event.

so I am kind of confused right now. Why are the cars I purchased in championships not showing up in my garage for free play?

Being able to mess with weather settings freely doesn't dictate a dynamic weather system. There could be a number of reasons the settings aren't fully available to players. But having the environment change in different weather conditions and having day to night/night to day is a dynamic system. Forza 6 is prebaked as in no changing at all so less gpu/CPU load to handle
Yeah but neither is a pre-defined system to control the game not to place dynamics at the heart of the action. Besides that full dynamics are somewhat random within reason i.e. not going from a bright clear day to a snowstorm in a matter of a minute.

Additionally full dynamics wouldn't be tied to player activity, as it was in the post I originally responded to. If the player doesn't move, seemingly neither does the passage of time or weather. Seems a bit strange doesn't it, unless someone else can elaborate on what actually happens.

Finally, I can't see why they wouldn't allow access to variables if it wasn't truly dynamic either.

Like I said though, as far as I am aware Turn 10 never explicitly stated Time of Day and Weather is completely dynamic. Lots of people here, including EuroGamer/Digital Foundry presumed it would be (until they corrected themselves).

Apparently, Project CARS 2 simulates a world of seasons which explains hy 12 noon looks different between summer and winter. Plus players have full control of both dynamic systems.

TOD is not manually selectable (so it doesn't look like there is a way to start the race at a precise time such as 3pm for example), nor can you dictate time progression speed manually from what I've seen. Night racing is not available on all tracks either.

The weather/night stuff is not available on a lot of tracks where it would make sense as well. Time progresses to night time on every race track in the world so I don't know what their excuse there is. Wet weather racing also happens on a lot of tracks that it's omitted from - did you see the recent Monza F1 Gran Prix? The whole "no two races will be the same" stuff looks to be marketing BS.

It's a series of prebaked scenarios for the tracks it's available on and it would have been a lot of work/testing (and data) for them to extend that across all tracks. I would much rather they were honest about that fact rather than coming in hot with the whole "everything is fully dynamic this time" bullshit.
Sad to read. Be grateful though, it's better than no dynamics whatsoever.

Thanks to everyone for the input regarding braking line. As much as I love playing racing games (since GT on PS1) I don't actually understand anything about cars nor real-world tracks, so I never got to "know" a track so well in a game. Maybe it's because I don't put a lot of time into these games individually, or indeed, that these assists make it about them (about following them strictly) and not about learning the tracks.

My biggest issue is with the cars. I only play with a controller, and like I said I'm not an automobile connoisseur by any means (I just like them aesthetically), so when I drive something like the Porsche Spyder it feels really good and nice, but then I drive something else and it's completely different and off putting. I bet that's fun with a steering wheel. But maybe not so much with a controller.

Regarding loot crates, I've been buying the expensive ones and I'm starting to think that it might be a mistake since I barely get anything good. (I'm also incapable of making perfect turns, so those mods aren't a good fit for me. :( Drafting doesn't seem to work for me too.)

They need to make it clearer that those requirements are minimum because some of the more seasoned players are looking at those mods and saying "wtf is this trash".

Lmao, that's exactly what I thought when I first saw them. At least I know I can use them now for some free CR.

---

Also, regarding performance, I noticed that my GPU usage is at like 20-40% (ultra settings) even after downclocking. I get the very occasional stutter when I notice my CPU usage spikes (for whatever reason), but apart from that performance is phenomenal. I should turn the render resolution and MSAA up.

I'm finding that the cars grip levels (race cars) are more in line with what you would expect from games like pCars or AC as opposed to previous Forza iterations.

I can't get on with a wheel in this game... Just can't, it's serviceable for me but I get more vibration feedback from the Xbox one controller and it's impulse triggers. That's not good.

Same here. I’ll use controller for now and try again when I have the Xbox One X.

I think I’m just not the the serious mood for using my wheel right now for Circuit Racing as I’m bad as driving anyway.

Maybe I’ll attempt to remove the Rubber Block in the G920’s Brake Pedal. Anyone had any success with that?

Maybe how many people around the world that have bought the car in the game?

Yeah they're apparently being given numbers in the order they're bought in the game and registered on the servers. It probably doesn't mean they're limited, it's just for show and it will presumably be exploited in the auction house. :)
