Forza Horizon Review Thread

You can free roam in the Viper all you want.
How do you change cars? Once I reach the area of the first event I'm stuck with the Evo.

Edit: I see that you can just start the demo up and avoid the first event, but aren't you stuck with default options, all assists, automatic shift changes, driving line, etc? Or is there another way?

The demo is just for Gold members until next week, right? Don't have Gold right now, but was seriously considering getting a month of Gold just to download the demo earlier this week.

I can't wait for this game. Played hundreds of hours of both Forza 2 and 3 (skipped 4), and Blur is one of my absolute favorite games, ever. I'm really looking forward to racing with other GAF'ers.

It's so hard seeing all of this content everywhere and not being to play the game :p

Would love to know how you change cars.

When you first start driving do not follow Flynt, its a trap.

Thats the only way.

This excites me even more for Forza 5 on next gen console. Seems Playground proved themselves, which means they can help the main team at T10 on F5.

Another Rally shot...

This looks to be the last game worth playing on the 360 before next gen. I had my doubts but the reviews sound promising!

You know what's odd? As hyped as I am for this game, I find the demo super boring. I hate only having one car for free roam (and such a boring one at that) and I just find the car choices sort of meh too. I seriously cannot wait for the game, but I have very little desire to play the demo.

The demo is pretty boring. They could of at least given us the Viper and Mustang for free roam as well, as it is my hype for this game is still non-existent.

The dudebro style and safe handling just turns me off it completely, only thing that save it is the rival events and photo mode but whether I buy it just for those I'm not too sure. The game is absolutely gorgeous too.

There's a pretty cool U2 song called "No Line On the Horizon" Kinda fits with the racing lines and what not.

As a big U2 fan, I did not think about this until you mentioned it. It would make a good song for the game! Going to add it to my custom soundtrack because I really don't like some the in-game music selection.

Polygon completely trolled Forza Horizon, but that's what sites with biased agendas do for to sabotage Meta or gain hits. Their history of reviews pretty much tells the story.

It's awesome that even sites like Eurogamer e giving Playgrounds Games and Turn 10 their just do for this title.

Yeah! From the look of it it´s on par with Forza 2...
What happened to the excellent Forza 4 replays=(

They certainly couldn't manually set each fixed camera on the map like they did with Fm4 closed tracks.
But they could have thought of randomizing cameras' positions along the road, that could have worked.

The demo plays great and looks fantastic.

I'm not a huge fan of racing games but I think I'll probably pick this up.

played the demo.

not sure what to think. doesnt seem like a sim to me, and the sound effects seemed dull.

will still buy though.

Yeah, I've added it as well to a custom soundtrack. I'm sure the full game will have more songs, but sometimes you just want to race to Black Betty, haha.

I went and bought that Wireless Speed Wheel today and I have improved my times on every race.

I can't wait to get this game!

I intended passing on this as I had Need For Speed: Most Wanted lined up as my racing game this Autumn, but after seeing the review scores/watchingGiant Bomb Quick Look I'm torn. God damn it looks like a whole lotta fun, my wallet is weeping right now.

I thought you were supposed to smash into everything to earn Popularity Biscuits?

He constantly hit traffic, which gets you nothing. He also bounced from guard rail to guardrail.

I'm sure talking about the game and playing at the same time weren't easy.

That's such a weird excuse though, holding a conversation with someone sitting next to me or over voice chat doesn't make me play like shit.

I don't think it helped Jeff was incapable of driving without smashing into everything. Drive with style and you'll be fine.

Well they've always played kind of crappy while talking about the game on quick looks.

I'm talking more about the scope and diversity of the game being smaller than TDU, which came out in 2006. It had the whole island of Oahu to cruise around on as you went from racing near the coast, through cities, and up mountain roads. It even had a race around the whole island that takes like 45 minutes going 200+ mph. The map in this game just doesn't look as large or dense. TDU2 doubled down and gave an updated Oahu on top of Ibiza.

Those games obviously don't look as great as this graphically, but the ideal open world racing game to me provides tons of roads to just cruise around on and always online with other players. It's something Test Drive Unlimited was able to do at the beginning of the gen, I was just hoping this game would be more like a better executed TDU with MS money and talent.

After watching a couple of video reviews this is the 1st game in 2 and a half years that has made me wish I didn't sell my 360. Unfortunately I can't justify rebuying one this Christmas just for this...

Played a couple times this week and I'm hooked on the arcade racing...and it's beautiful.

Bring on the 23rd.
