This looks to be the last game worth playing on the 360 before next gen. I had my doubts but the reviews sound promising!
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who looks forward to the Gears of War prequel.

After this demo the game seemed like a phoned in spin-off. Very surprised by the scores.

I'm exactly opposite. I thought the game was going to be a phoned in spin-off, the demo sold me.
Forza Horizon is one of those games that tries too hard to look hip. Its characters and setting - a festival of music and motor racing - share the same sanitised vision of youth culture you see in ads for mobile networks. Its colour scheme is black with hot pink and every menu rests at a 15 degree angle. Achievements have titles like 'OMG' and '#WINNING'.
Perhaps it's trying to correct the famous lack of charisma of its parent series Forza Motorsport, from Microsoft's in-house team Turn 10. Or perhaps it's trying to cover up a strain of rank commercialism, since it's plastered in sponsor logos and invitations to buy tokens for shortcuts. An offshoot made by another studio - new UK outfit Playground - Forza Horizon comes across like a marketing drive first and a game second, tainted as it is with buzzwords like "brand extension" and "annual cadence".
The first paragraph of the Eurogamer review nicely sums up my view after the demo:
I'm looking forward to it too, but there has been very little information about the single player campaign and even less footage. I don't know why, it's a stark difference from how they revealed past titles with lots of single player footage.
What's wrong with that if his impressions are the same?If you actually played the demo yourself why would you need a review to sum up YOUR personal impressions?
There has been full magazine blow-outs on both single and multi
Forza Horizon |OT| Wub Wub Wubberbanding be damned
The first paragraph of the Eurogamer review nicely sums up my view after the demo:
Prepare to swallow your cynicism, however, because Forza Horizon is a quite brilliant racing game - one of the best of its generation. It's also a lesson in how to make that development model work to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
If you actually played the demo yourself why would you need a review to sum up YOUR personal impressions?
Polygon completely trolled Forza Horizon, but that's what sites with biased agendas do for to sabotage Meta or gain hits. Their history of reviews pretty much tells the story.
It's awesome that even sites like Eurogamer e giving Playgrounds Games and Turn 10 their just do for this title.
Stunts earn popularity, which is ultimately meaningless...
Even grinding out all the points necessary to hit number one gives you nothing save for an achievement and access to a handful of showcase events.
Anyone have any suggestions for the Horizon OT title?
When the line is red, should I be hitting brake, hand brake, or simply taking my foot off the gas? Right now I'm using the walls and other cars as my brakes, and that's probably not going to get me very far.
Bright red Is telling you that you are way too fast for that upcoming corner, orange is when you are passing the limit of the car, really. When the line is red, should I be hitting brake, hand brake, or simply taking my foot off the gas? I wouldn't say the showcase events are pointless at all, you do get free cars for beating them.

All you need to do is slow down until its green if you want to take it safely, e-brake should only ever be used to start a sharp slide, normal brakes are always faster to stop with then the hand brake as that will instantly lock the back wheels and cause huge grip loss.

The best part of the polygon review:
But they do seem to make some valid complaints.
Done some more videos for you guys with racing and customization. Any cars you guys want to see?

there have? which magazines? I stopped buying magazines years ago, but I'd happily buy the digital copies of any magazine that has some single player information about the new gears of war.
The demo has some of the best AA I have ever seen in a console game. Shame I can't play racing games while seeing a full view of my car. And along with all these positive reviews I'm very surprised it actually turned out good. Can't wait until I catch a deal on it.
What point was actually valid in that statement. If I play the hardest level on my favorite Xbox 360 game guess what I get? an achievement. Since when is it a complaint to play a racing game that opens events for racing. If they hate that then they hate ALL the major racing games out there. Sounds like reeeaching to me.
Am I missing something here? Why not race in bumper or cockpit view?
Edit: oh you mean it would be nice if YOU could drive while looking at your car right? I missed the meaning. Nevermind.![]()
ok, completed the recaro off-road race in the demo with the wheel for the first time - i agree with the other comments, the game feels way better with a wheel. its terrific. now i'm sold.
Doing quick math, it looks like Forza Horizon would pretty much have a 90 metacritic rating if it wasn't for Polygon's 6 out of 10 review (the metacritic rating is currently 86).
No more early Forza reviews for Polygon!
(lol just joking around)
The one thing I dont get from that review was the talk about how the crowds are a downgrade from Forza 4.
While they are works of art the crowd models are better than any crowd that has ever been in the Forza series.
Microsoft has been notorious for their strict embargos,
but wow what a brilliant move it was to lift the embargo so early.
Great way to build hype on a new unestablished product.
You can tell they had a lot of faith that this was gonna be good.
I really appreciate the first 15 minute video, and others. It really sold me on it. Presentation, etc. seemed way better done than other arcade racers, imo.
