That would be why I've never encountered this before. Seemed to take a long time to get through just North America, too.
I'm not sure if you saw it being mentioned earlier, but the PS4 patch is ready to go for North America, but can't release it until it's ready to go for Europe due to the region free matchmaking they have in place.

Oh yeah, I saw. What I mean is that the patch was supposed to be ready on Wednesday, but it wasn't mentioned as being good for NA until like a day or two ago. So in my mind it was caught in NA cert for a few days, too. Don't know how true that is obviously.

Stick with other players and help each other out when you can. Its ideal for the mics cuz you may have an item that could help each other. But its easy to spot someone carrying the battery and gas tank if need be for the car.

The PS4 community... Everyone on mic is either a wannabe gangster, a racist, a constant complainer, ect. Im at about a 2 percent ratio of anyone who has any kindness at all to their voice or personality, or seems to just want to enjoy a game win or lose.

I've had mostly positive experiences with others on mics. I was called a faggot once but whatever.. aside from that one incident its been pretty fun, added a few people as friends in fact.

Unfortunately most online games are like that. Everyone nowadays is "funny" because they scream the N word, or they're a wannabe Youtube personality who has to turn it to 11 because it's "funny".

There are definitely more twelve year olds trying to act tough than I would prefer (or learning how to incorporate swearing), but my experiences have been more positive than negative.

Well to start using a mic. It should be priority 1 for the counselors. For instance, earlier today I called out that I found the gas and had walked halfway across the map to put it in when I found out someone already did and didn't bother to tell me. Then I walked all the way back to where the battery was, and 4 people had congregated by the car and had Jason on them. I pleaded with them to bring him away so we could all get away. Instead they stick around not listening, and when they did leave ran him straight to me despite me screaming into the mix " do not bring him over here".

Luckily I managed to get away but you need a Mic to excel at this game. You don't have a lot of time to be wasting like I did running items across the map for them to already be taken care of. It's way too much of an advantage for Jason to not use mics.

I'd advise against a strict rule of sticking together with people or flying solo. It's really an circumstance type of situation based on the team's composition, what Jason is doing, and what items are around people and whose doing what.

I have not had as bad of luck as you have with the PS4 community...maybe one out of 6 or 7 groups I join have those as you described.

That being said, the last group I was in had a few complainers and blamed the character playing Jason as being cheap/cheating anytime he killed them. I died early on and watched the last two guys hide in a cabin while Jason was busting down the door, and one of them said "I have two pocket knives" and the other said "I have a flare gun...", and so when Jason busted through, he simply beat the one without the flare gun to death with his axe and then shifted to do a grab choke execution on the other. They complained and claimed the guy playing Jason was cheating and not playing fair since he used the axe on the one that BROADCASTED out he had two pocket knives. After they kicked him from the group after the match I tried to tell them its part of the game and they told Jason that the grabble would get countered twice so he went for the alternative. Of course they would not listen and I just quit the the group myself.

I've had worse experiences on PC with people in voice chat than I've had on PS4 so far. Over the weekend I got matched with an apparent 11-year-old whose Steam name was 'stupidfaggot', and we had one guy who really enjoyed teamkilling and helping Jason kill counselors while acting like a complete tool over the mic, and when he was called out on it he told one girl in the game that he killed her because she 'wouldn't put out'. Among other things.

There are shitheads everywhere, though. I've probably encountered fewer on PS4 simply because I haven't been able to find a fucking match in 3 days.

funnily enough thats been my experience too, had a great session with a couple of scandinavians and a french dude.

I sadly am ignorant to accents/dialects, however I will also say that the most fun I have had in public lobbies have also been international from me (U.S). Kind of a neat trend that these lobbies stand out so significantly compared to other games. Players have been more into the horror aspect and more light-hearted.

There are indeed shitheads everywhere but I've dealt with some much racist players in the couple weeks this game has been live. Idk what it is.

Feel free to add me: Cheshire_Buddha on PS4. That goes for anyone looking for a game.

Everyone on the GAF Friday the 13th community is ace, too. So join that. I think it's called Friday the 13th GAF. Over half of my matches are with fellow GAFfers.

People always complain about shifting grabs being OP but whenever Im Jason I can never do them. I always come out grabbing air, even on injured councilers.

They are exaggerating by and large. With practice it is very good but thats the point, I wouldn't call it OP. Several Jason's depend on it due to not being able to run.

So they don't want to push the PS4 NA patch because it would break matchmaking with EU. But matchmaking pretty much doesn't work anyway.

???.jpg

Edit: Or would it break private games also?

I now play as ultimatum jason where if I get multiple counselor's in the house, I tell them that I'll let one player go if they kill the other person(s). Listening to them talk it out before attacking each other is comedy gold.

Since the first day, I haven't gotten to be Jason and been playing every day since several hours each. This is getting very annoying. Got in twice on first day, a ton in the beta, but never again

What I would eventually like to see is the chance for every counselor to come back as someone from the movies. Basically divide each game into 2 stages - generic counselors then "survivors" (Tommy, Ginny, Tina, etc...). Each survivor requires a different method of activation (Tommy requires you to call him, he would continue to be the easiest). Would fix the problem of their being nothing to do after you die and not get picked to play as Tommy. Would have give Jason the chance to kill more people and more exp.

I could see them getting one of the final girls as a playable character, but Tina wouldn't be one of them, and frankly, she shouldn't be.

While not a girl, Reggie the Reckless needs top priority.

My final girl of choice would be Ginny though.

I wouldn't mind Crazy Ralph. Maybe he would be able to locate Jason on the map but the downside is that he's loud as shit when telling other players.

I think Crazy Ralph would be better as an NPC.

Have him hide in a random closet, first counselor to find him gets a stamina buff or something ("You're doomed if you stay here!").

OR

Have him spawn in the woods (at a random time) then walk to a random closet. If Jason finds him before he gets to the closet, no buff for anyone. If someone finds him in the closet, they're able to run outside of the map and survive (basically the police win, but only for whatever player found Ralph).

What are some of the best perks? I hear that there is a perk that starts you out with a map, that would be amazing because it seems liked most of the time I don't find a map. I have had terrible luck spawning in spots that Jason likes to teleport to, so I die quick a lot. Luckily I have been Jason quite a few times since changing my preference, that XP is nice.

Someone mentioned that there was only 3 pocket knives per level, but this is not true. As Jason I got hit with those like 6 times. They were a team with great communication, and were a tough team. I have no idea how they scavenged so much shit, but I was getting hit like crazy with all kinds of stuff. I had to resort to hacking away at them because they would always break free with pocket knife of their buddy. In the end they helped me along the way by killing their fellow counselors on accident.

So frustrating when people don't use their mics, or if they don't, even acknowledge the players who do.

I helped with the 2-seater car, didn't know somebody had the keys until I heard the car take off even though I asked. Oh, ok, well at least it was full I thought as it drove by me. I then found the parts and repaired the 4-seater completely alone, let everyone on the radio know it was ready to go as soon as somebody found the keys. Just crickets on the radio, so I went into cabins right next to the car and ended up finding the fuse and calling the police. It was a roundabout too so they literally had to go in front of the cabins I was in to take the car. All of a sudden I hear the car start up and get going, so I start talking to them saying I'm coming out. I was running out of the cabin, and they just kept on driving, car with empty seats and Jason nowhere to be seen. I was within normal voice range, so even if they didn't have a radio they could have heard me then. Of course, Jason would cut them off before they could escape and kill them all.

What was frustrating was that when the game ended, all of a sudden everyone was using their mics saying "good game" and such... No idea why they weren't using mic's the past 15 minutes.

I wish Illfonic would implement preset voice commands or something for players who either don't have a mic, or don't want to use a mic ("yes", "no", "I got the <item_in_hand>", etc).

They just need to revamp Tommy completely.

As a character he should be helping other counselors escape or fighting Jason.

Gameplay wise that doesn't fit well though,

1. He shouldn't have a fear/scare meter, so seeing things like bodies or Jason shouldn't "scare" him like regular counselors.
2. You should get more points for doing things like fighting Jason, causing damage to him, etc.

Basically they need to make it so that Tommy players are rewarded for playing like....well Tommy, not have him act like a regular counselor.

Focus him toward helping others escape and give him "abilities" like Jason, geared toward achieving those goals.

Let him set traps (IE a net trap, ropes to tie him up, etc) and other things that make Tommy stand out from regular counselors and focus him toward fighting against Jason.

On the flip side start him with some first aid kits (so he can heal other counselors) and give him a couple of abilities to buff counselors that are near him, like helping their fear meter stay low/regen, having quicker stamina, or similar things.

Sounds like a pretty good idea. I wonder if that would require balancing anything else about the game, which I think it'd be worth it. I still think Jason should have the advantage, but I think expanding the role of Tommy fully realizes the concept way more then essentially a high stats counselor prearrmed with a shotgun.

A quick fix though would be to allow Tommy to earn way more xp for combatting Jason then it would be to simply escape. Let him earn more xp for other helpful actions like making repairs or healing players. Maybe they could allow him to earn xp by staying within range of other players which increase with each counselor within range. Things like this could naturally encourage to stick around more with how Tommy currently stands.

Man, I think I am done until the patch drops. I have been hit by the worst, most broken, elements of this release in the last twenty four hours. I don't know if I can do it any more...

I think I am going to wait for some much needed stability.

I agree with these changes. I like the idea of rewarding Tommy for helping other players. Really smart stuff.

Played a few hours on PC yesterday, it was fun. Had a nasty bug though when playing as Jason: after grabbing a victim, all controls except movement keys became unresponsive. I couldn't execute them, put them down, perform a context kill - nothing except carry them around like an idiot. They couldn't break free as well. Spectated another dude apparently with the same bug too later.

The PS4 community... Everyone on mic is either a wannabe gangster, a racist, a constant complainer, ect. Im at about a 2 percent ratio of anyone who has any kindness at all to their voice or personality, or seems to just want to enjoy a game win or lose.

I've only encountered one genuinely awful person thankfully. I barely play online games especially ones where people use their mics a lot, so I found it a bit uncomfortable hearing this whiny antisocial mean-spirited fuckhead insulting all the other players and just generally taking the game waaaaaaay too seriously.

He was the last counsellor to survive and upon being killed at the very end just went into this big angry rant blaming all the other players... I quit the game in the middle of his little meltdown, fuck that guy. I couldn't help but think to myself "wow, what does this guy's day to day life consist of, how miserable must that existence be..."

I've found it more interesting since the PS4 region lock was removed, as up till a few days ago it was only other people in Australia talking, 90% of them basically felt like the same person, super Aussie stoner sounding types. I've actually found there have been quite a few likable/decent people when I've played in the last few days.

I was pretty split on this game the first week or so that it was out but lately am absolutely loving it. It's so addictive and I've been playing for 2+ hours at a time which is very rare for me with any game nowadays. It's so fun and I love a lot of the gameplay mechanics. It has felt more stable to me recently too even though I'm pretty sure it's yet to be patched on PS4, maybe I'm imagining it but it doesn't feel as glitchy to me in the last few days.

Most likely they had perks that let them start with pocket knives

Looking forward to the patch. Good time playing with the neo crew. Sucks I was tea bagged but at least I got to throw Xaero Gravity through a window.

Was in a good group last night that almost managed to kill Jason, but somebody fucked up while he was stunned and Tommy couldn't get the final hit off on him. So I told them that, next round, if I got picked as Jason they could get the kill and I wouldn't kill anybody.

We had about 3 new people join after a few left and, sure enough, I got picked to be Jason. I started wandering around camp until I ran into a counselor here and there, and tried to tell them over the mic to group up with the others and I'd let them kill me. I guess they didn't have mics or couldn't hear me or something because every single time I'd try to help them out I'd simply get fucking whacked or they'd run off and try to escape or something. All except for one guy who was actually communicating with me and pleading with the others to communicate and kill me.

Didn't fucking work, they kept fucking it up because no one was talking on their mics or listening. I said fuck it and killed all of them, got a nice little game out of it.

Sanity Check: If you start a match and mute the player playing Jason, then he can still hear you, yes?

I was in a group yesterday with a couple of guys and after I died and was spectating them hiding in a cabin with Jason busting down the door, I heard one of them say something like "I have two pocket knives so its cool.." and the other said he had a flare gun. Jason ran in and chopped down the guy without the flare gun (hence he probably heard the guy without the flare gun had the two pocket knives so he did not press L2 to hold but just did his basic attack) and then shifted to L2 hold-execute the guy with the flare gun.

They proceeded to rant about how the guy playing Jason was playing UNFAIRLY and cheating because he was "spamming" his basic attack (even though he killed me and others with the hold-executions). They wanted to kick him from the group. I played devil's advocate and told them that to be FAIR, they did vocally tell Jason that they had a counter to his hold-executions so the guy playing Jason was actually playing smart. Their excuses were "No, I muted the guy playing Jason, he couldn't hear me", and "they put executions in the game because you are suppose to use them", etc etc. I promptly quit the group myself but then I remembered wait, he muted Jason but Jason didn't mute him so his argument does not even make sense...

So yeah, thats how it works right?
