Sounds fun to me. The server issues they're having are a little annoying, but understandable. I hope people aren't turned away by them.

Anyone looking to split the £15.19 the game is on Steam? I only heard about this game today and it looks awesome. There aren't enough military tactics games nowadays, at least not since Jagged Alliance.

Also would I get decent performance on my crusty NC10 netbook with a single core Intel and integrated graphics? I've read this will run on anything under the sun.

I was just concerned that with my netbook's age a greater variety of integrated cards are available. Mine is a bottom rung GMA 950, so it's worth a try anyway.

Considering some people say they can "play" Oblivion (~20fps) on that netbook with that card, I think you'll be able to play this game. Not really a reactionary type of game.

Ok, so my friend and I rocked the soundtrack edition of this.

But clearly we are both dumb because we can't find where the soundtrack is.

Anyone wanna point me in the obvious direction I'm clearly missing here?

Yeah, ended up having to uninstall and then reinstall it, only then did it show up in the DLC tab on Steam's game properties. Nothing in Tools at all, though.

Then I found it in steamapps/common/frozen synapse. Wasn't there the first time though. Weird.

I'd rather say that the makers of this game knew perfectly well that the most fun you can get out of it is by playing a friend in multiplayer, so they want you to share the game with someone. Its a package for two players!

I'm going to watch this tourney, just because it'll make for a thrilling spectator sport. Youtube uploads are mandatory, or at least offering up the game number within FS so we can see the outcome. It'll be fascinating to see people's styles. I might jump in on the next one.

Toma, settled on game modes and the general rules yet? Curious to see what you come up with!

I haven't heard anything from Subversion in almost a year now... Anyone know whats up with them? I know Darwinia plus didn't do as well as they hoped on xbla... I hope they're okay.

Between Uplink and Defcon they're one of my favorite developers. I can't wait for Subversion. But anyway this is getting derailed hard.

Welcome, Gentlemen. (I assume)

1. First off: Rules

Game Mode: generic Dark Extermination, with no settings changed
Since its the most common mode being played, and the one easily practiced.

Tournament mode: Elimination, Best 2 out of 3
1 game may be luck (especially with positioned soldiers) so I'd say to win 2 out of three is fair.

Upcoming games: There wont be a new drawing for the next matches.
The Winner of Match 1 and Match 2 will have the next match (and so on). I used http://www.random.org/lists/ to randomize our names. If you know your opponent for the next match already while others still need to play their previous match, you can go ahead and challenge him if he is fine with it.

Server: UK2
For simplicities sake so that we find each other easily. However, you are free to change the server if one of you cant log into the server you initially wanted to play on.

Time: You got 3 days to respond to a match with your first move and 1 day for each move.
Naturally, if it takes too long, the one not corresponding will get eliminated. It also helps to talk to the other one when you want to start a match (read your PM's!), so that you dont necessarily need 8 days to play a game that takes 20-30 minutes of concentration.

Youtube: Upload your tournament matches! Easy rule of thumb: The one who wins uploads, except he asks the other one to do so.
This is perfect for spectators and we'd love to see you all play. Create yourself a youtube account if you dont have one or take the one I created for this game. Ask me via pm if you want the login.

Trouble Shooting:

In case of 3 draws, make new matches until someone wins.

If you cannot continue a match due to technical (server?) reasons, talk to your match partner and decide whether you want to wait or simply make a new match (which by rule nullifies the old one, even if it works a day later)

how do I slip unnoticed out of a gloryhole booth?
pylon: I can't continue our game because of server issues. The game doesn't seem to agree with me that I started the game on UK1, nor will it accept that it started on any other server, so I will concede defeat.

Man, a work around is simply to click on your games button on the bottom left menu and select our game before you choose a server. It worked for me, give it a go. If it doesn't, we'll call it a draw.

Should a specific player initiate the challenge (the first name mentioned?) or any of the 2?

Edit: I'm gonna assume it's a generic Dark Extermination match with no settings changed. I've sent my challenge off to InfectedZero. (on server UK2)

Any of the two. Helps getting the game set up faster. I contacted my match partner via PM (have an eye on it everyone) , to contact me in steam.

I'd love to split a pack with someone but would that person mind if I instead of paypaling ( don't have an account :( ) the money instead gifted a game/dlc/whatever of your choice amounting to 10$?
