Knowledge is power, guard it well
Just popped in the Action Bronson CD, only to find that there's no track info on the disc. Unknown album. Unknown Artist. Track 1, Track 2, Track 3......

WTF Bronsonelli?! This shit better be banging bro, because that's one or two strikes already. I still love you man, but having to redo the tags myself, on a retail CD fucking sucks. Maybe I just got a back copy....

I'm going to bed.

p.s. - bumped Take Care for the first time today. GOOD ASS Album. I played that shit front to back, and really liked everything.

sn: i'm rather surprised her first album did so well. she's had hits in heavy rotation the whole damn year. especially Super Bass which was fucking unavoidable for a long time..

Super Bass is a fucking ridiculous song.

Is that better than the original Trunk Muzik? Haven't listened to that one yet.

Lol as much of an authority as I sound I'm not the biggest Yelawolf fan. I only listened to that one so I can't compare. Throw It Up on Radioactive was an amazing beat though.

No matter, I only started listening to Yela recently myself. Just wanted an opinion on whether you thought the newer or older tape was better. ;)

She's already the most successful female rapper ever. She'll never be as beloved as Queen Latifah or as influential, but nobody has been as visible or gotten as many radio spins as Nicki.

And that pains me to say it, as I loathe Nicki.

Check out Trunk Muzik 0-60 and see if you like that. That got a general Gaf-Hop consensus as a good album.
I enjoyed Radioactive a lot and I definitely slept on Trunk Muzik last year, besides that "Pop the Trunk" song, so I'll check this out.

She's the most mainstream, but she hasn't come close to surpassing Lil Kim's sales. But she will definitely be the most important/biggest no doubt

This is what Growin up in the Gutter shoulda been

Yelawolf still has it in him judging by the earlier tracks in the album so I really really hope Shady steps the fuck off and lets him do his south thing for the sophomore.

And I know sidd's the only one who gives Jay Rock love around here but really you guys gotta give him something for his verse on Schoolboy Q - What's the Word, ghetto energy. Was listening to setbacks again to prep for HnC in Dec.

sure about that? If she's not yet, it's only because she has only released one album so far. It's inevitable. Nicki is everywhere like Wayne used to be a few years ago.

i hate NM with a passion. her "music" and fake looks, make me cringe every time i see her.

It's her giant mouth that makes me cringe and those stupid things she wears. I actually think she's very cute in that lame ass Sean Kingston video.

Parts of radioactive actually remind me a lot of Yelawolf's Stereo album. So it's not as if the "country, guitars and shit" sound is something new from him. It's just because the last thing he put out was trunk rattling perfection that everyone expected that from radioactive. Looking at his entire catalog, this is much more indicative of his style.
That said, like Kam grumbled, the album has em's hands alllll over it. It's actually funny that once he shows up on the album and you get that little skit with him, the vibe changes for several songs to something you would expect on an Eminem album, only switching gears again around track 12.
Good Girl and Hardest Love Song are pretty much custom made for the radio, but if I have to listen to a radio built track, theres plenty else out there thats far far worse. They at least have great beats and yela remains cocky and redneck through both, even when he's being "romantic".

Hardcore: 2 million sold US
Notorious KIM: 1.4 million sold US, 4.5 million sold worldwide
La Bella Mafia: 1.1 million sold US
The Naked Truth: 394k sold US

vs

Pink Friday: 1.5 million sold US, 2 million sold worldwide

It'll be very hard for Minaj to consistently sell like Kim due to the changes in the music industry, but the benefit is that Minaj has reached a mainstream, white market in a way Kim didn't. Taylor Swift can bring Minaj out to preform Super Bass and nearly every white girl in the audience knows the lyrics. Her next album will probably be huge.

I can't imagine ASAP Rocky being good on anything but Clams Casino. That was his tape as much as Rocky's. Peanut Butter and Jelly.

I understand there's a lot of money to be made being a freelance producer but I'd only do that until I found the rapper I really jelled with and then just go full on gang starr.

Clams only did 5 of the beats on the tape. LiveLoveASAP had a lot of producers. his in-house guy Ty Beats does work too (Peso & Purple Swag)

I've been going through reddit's list of essential hip-hop albums (not necesarily in order), and listening to every album straight through, so I could maybe relate to a lot of the stuff all you guys that have been into Hip-Hop for a longer time talk about.

I just started listening to Madvillainy. Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiit

I'll just forget I posted here then and continue ignoring the thread. Carry on.

Dude, they're just messing with you. Usually in a mega-thread like this you do read the last few pages. You'll also need to learn to take siddix shit and talk back to him. Like this

Siddix, Slug sucks.

That's one of my favorites from Setbacks. Didn't realize that HnC would be out next month. Nice.

Every song with two or more Black Hippy members turns out great. I love that they all have their own style, especially Jay Rock. He doesn't seem to fit with the rest of em at all to me. They're all good though. I'm not sure whose album I like the most after Section 80. It changes depending on my mood.

This list doesn't have any UGK? What the fuck.

It also doesn't have Funcrusher Plus but someone in the comments put it in, so I can let that slide.
This list has reminded me that I've been meaning to revisit The Infamous. Such an amazing album.

Speaking of Madvillain, as I was diggin into some Rock n Roll I found the song from which Madlib sampled Strange Ways for

Its always cool stumbling upon a song that was sampled for another song.

I think I made some drunken ridiculous top 50 list in the last thread that is way better than that reddit crap.
