I think the problem Kanye faces is his desire to appease the critics and also simultaneously find the same the billboard success that he experienced at the height of his career. After Yeezus he finds himself in the crossroads of artistic integrity and mainstream success. The bloggers, critics, and Internet dwelling nerds that liked Yeezus and appreciated it's irreverence don't really make up the same fan base that went out and bought his first threw albums and catapulted his sales. Yeezus really kind of alienated hip hop purists and the average black listener to it's somewhat blasphemous subject matter and raucous musicality. Ever since MBDTF Kanye's music has drifted away from really resonating with the two aforementioned groups and I believe Swish at least from how he's framed it is going to be a fractured effort to appease both groups. It's taking long because it's virtually impossible.

I agree completely, well said. I wonder if he looked at SHMG and realized that it once again went in an extreme direction like Yeezus (and even MBDTF) did, and wants to strike a new balance.

Balance seems to be a concept a lot of artists are struggling with atm.

Holy shit, listening to some Canibus I stumbled on this, wtf.

Canibus - Poet Laureate Infinity 1000 bars

A concept invented by the rapper Canibus in 2007. The song contains 5 different 200 bar layers, for a total of thousand bars. It was originally displayed on a virtual mixing board online. Essentially, you would press play and all 5 sets of 200 bars would play at once, with 4 muted.
You could at any time, mute one, and unmute a different one. And do this every single bar, and no matter what they would flow to make a new rhyme. As it was designed to make infinite rhymes there were countless different mixes that could be created.

Infinite rhyming consists of layers that share the exact same rhyme scheme and flow. By putting each layer into a separate channel of a mixer, it gives the user the ability to switch between layers seamlessly. This while still maintaining a coherent rhyme structure, content, rhythm and flow. Thereby allowing users to create their own songs, or mixes, in an infinite number of ways. This video displays how it was recorded, but as stated above, you can create totally new content with it.

The result is 53 MINUTES OF ONE INCREDIBLE CANIBUS FLOW.

Amazing, this is perfect.

GAF-Hop Discusses

1.What do you like about the current state of hip-hop? What’s missing from the game? - Everything, so much variety in music. We're in a golden age of hip hop where so many artists are dropping so much dope music and so quickly too. I especially fucks with the creativity, you have so much experimentation with hip hop now and brand new sounds coming out of it. Also that hip hop is now getting postiive mainstream appeal, complete opposite when compared to hip hop in the mid-2000s. Great time to be a hip-hop fan forreal.
2.Who’s Your Favorite Wu-Tang Member? - The Genius
3.Jay-Z or Nas? Biggie or Pac? Young Thug or OG Maco? - Nasir, Big, Thugger

9.Who’s your favorite pop artist? And who’s the finest? - Beyonce, not even close.
10.Recall a personal event that went down about a week ago... - Was a camp counselor, got fucking wasted after camp was done and almost tyb'd a fellow counselor, but drunk me knew better yo.

I want RTJ to be annual. These dudes can be in their 50's. As long as Mike goes in and El-P provides those beats...bring on more of those RTJ thingamajigs.

I think I can handle maybe one more annual album, then I want them to start spacing them out more

I'd rather get another solo by mike or elp before another rtj album but i won't mind rtj3 before anything else. These guys are 40 and started getting a much bigger following w/ the release of rtj2. brehs gotta eat.

The Weeknd is officially too samey for me

I think Hills had amazing production and his vocals were more like background noise and even though Tell Your Friends clearly focuses on his vocals more it just doesn't do anything for me

At least he lasted longer than Fetty Wap for me

if anything this album isn't samey enough. in fact i wish it was more samey. I could understand if you made that argument given that outcome, but this? this album is diet weeknd.
