As much as I liked Long Live ASAP, no song even came close to being as good as Goldie, really. I guess 1 Train but that did less for ASAP than Goldie did/would.

Problem is the song came out nearly an entire year before the album, so I don't think I've ever even listened to it in context of the album, because I've probably heard it over a 1000 times.

At the end of the day, LVL ended up being my favorite song off the album. It's clearly the best.
That was a terrible performance. Jeez.

99% of rap shows are like this.
It's disappointing. I mean, I don't expect every rapper to have a live band or anything like that, but at least do away with the vocals backing track. They must have the damn masters. I understand that they might not be able to deliver their verses like they do on the recordings, but isn't that what hypemen were for?

so i might spin as an opening act for a trap artist this summer. I take it they will go more into the instrumental stuff.
I'd like to do some decent new rap. stuff i love from kendrick to danny and bronsolino, but befitting such a party i need to educate me on trap rap. can you guys point me in the right direction which classics i should start with? talking the trap that's been around for years.

TI and DJ Toomp

I'll bow to others in this thread because they'll have more knowledge than I but I wanted to get that in there

I actually thought it was a decent one.

I agree, they should use the instrumentals and more people should get into live bands and creative ways of delivering verses, but... compared to Q's performance at the same show, and a ton of other rappers, this was pretty standard, if not better than some.

Okay hold on Beth Gibbons of Portishead is slated to grace Cudi's album....NO FUCKING WAY. Also if you mention MGMT and Ratatat before Beth I feel as though you need to be educated....See that's a real live performance. Only go to small venue rap shows.

I like Portishead- but Ratatat and MGMT + Cudi is already a proven combo. They make magic.

If that was your education then I'd take MGMT + Ratatat + Cudi annnnyday.

I was there... :) Good times. I was 18 at the time. The fight at the end of the show was awesome. Damn chickenheads.

Macca your taste is so bad nobody can tell your blatant trolls from your serious confessions.
No shit, you're the one spouting that people need to get educated if they're more excited about a production group over a female vocalist.

What exactly makes her singing on a track more exciting than Ratatat producing? Educate me.

My favorite songs are ghetto symphony and Phoenix

Pmw is good but it ain't got shit on their previous hype ass collabs

Dling trap god 2. Lmao nobody gives a shit about cole. He drops a new tape and there's like no discussion. I'm prolly not gonna even bother

Ghetto Symphony is ok.

PMW is amazing, Q's verse is great, I'm glad they had a nonhype song because it shows they work well in any capacity.

Pretty Flacko is a much better track than Goldie IMO...But if we're talking about the album then I'd go with Jodye, the title track, PMW, Angels, and Ghetto Symphony...LVL is decent, but the beat is kind of lazy for Clams. Angels is probably the most under appreciated track.

Pretty Flacko Remix is a cool song, but it's not as good as Goldie... and the regular song sounded completely unfinished. Both have very cool beats, and I think Pretty Flacko's beat is more "ASAP" BUT, Goldie is so memorable and catchy and easy on the ears. It sounds like... Gold. And I said that without thinking of the game, when I hear the beat it sounds like liquid gold.

Jodye is amazing, it's my second favorite, Angels is a tie for second, but LVL is something else. It sounds like lazy Clams, because it mostly is, but lazy Clams still SHITS on all other producers, in my book. I fucking LOVE Clams, he is my favorite producer, and the beat on LVL didn't "wow" me at first, but I think Rocky spits his hardest on the whole album, on this track. On songs like Phoenix and Suddenly, I roll my eyes at his attempts to wow or impress me, especially Suddenly, but on LVL, I completely believe him. I'm back in Rocky's world that he created on LiveLoveASAP. This hazy, shoegazey, gangsta, drug world. LVL leading into Freeze from the Mob tape... fuck. Fuck dude. That is a 1-2 punch. A knockout.

If I could've made the album...

LongLiveASAP
Jodye
LVL
Freeze
Purple Kisses
Bath Salts
Ghetto Symphony
PMW
Goldie
Wild For The Night
1 Train
Big Spender (had they saved it for Rocky)
Angels
Ridin
Phoenix
Suddenly
Pretty Flacko Remix

How they wasted all those killer Rocky songs on a Mob tape that generated a small handful of hype... ughhhhhhhhh

Clams does not shit on anyone else on Tri Angle...Rest of the label. Every single artist is godlike.

i just realized CRS is the ultimate battered wife hip hop stan. cudi, blu, lupe, bone thugs etc etc

the only way he could suffer any more from stockholm syndrome is if he was a Nas fan. so i guess then he'd be spindashing.

No I love Clams, but was trying to dissipate some of the frenzy for him and I think if people were to listen to some of his contemporaries they would realize how lazy the LVL beat actually was.
