Gaf, I think I like Nickelback.

yeah their music sucks, but I'm actually tired of everyone hopping on the nickelback bandwagon joke like it's just popular to dislike them.

I am way into Florida Georgia Line, they are like Nickelback but country

/sprints out of the topic with haste!

Can't say I like them but the hate they get is hilarious (sheep mentality). Especially considering some of the crap that is popular.

It's all about image I guess.

Puddle of Mud is awesome (at least that one album I own). I think some people just didn't like them because of their affiliation with Fred Durst/Limp Bizkit

While I never liked them, I never understood all the hate that surrounded this particular band. I thought "If Everyone Cares" embodies everything about Nickleback. Good music but bland lyrics.

I never thought the hate against them was serious.

Kinda like the hate towards Linkin Park but people like them and they're pretty good.

edit:

And 1D. They're pretty good.

You're not alone. They're pretty damned popular and although I'll be the first to tell you that popularity doesn't always indicate quality, there is much, much worse music out there.

Nickelback catches a lot of hell on the internet mostly for their dinky singles that get overplayed to oblivion.

Ive heard far worse bands in mainstream than Nickelback, i mean far worse. I never quite understood the utter hatred that people have for them, "causing my ears to bleed!" like really? I know people love to exaggerate on the internet, something is either godlike or crime against humanity and there is no inbetween, but the sheer hate this band gets is something else. It rivals Bieber, Kardashian, Octomom and Paris Hilton type hate.
They are far worse than all 4 of those.

Alot more bearable, but so much worse.

---
I din't get the "overplayed" complaints, though. Do they get alot of airplay in the US?
I haven't unvoluntarily heard their uninspired brand of bro rock since How You Remind Me was huge 12 years ago.

How You Remind Me, Someday, Photograph and Rockstar were annihilated on the radio in the U.S. I like Nickelback and I can't even blame someone for hating them if they listened to a lot of radio because these singles were ridiculously overplayed.

I don't MIND Nickelback per say, there's just that one song I can't stand ot listen to. "Photographs" or whatever. The rest of their stuff, or well singles at least, are actually surprisingly tolerable.

How You Remind Me got overplayed, and then Hero came out and it got over-overplayed. It was everywhere. Sony pushed that song REAL hard. I can't even remember if the song is in the movie, because everytime I feel like watching Raimi-spideys it reminds me of this song.

The band has been criticised over their over-use of themes involving "strippers, sex, prostitutes, drugs, sex, drinking and sex",[86] for being derivative in the music they create, too often sticking to formula and being repetitive instead of innovating.[87][88][89] In November 2011, users of the music-oriented dating site Tastebuds.fm voted Nickelback as the number one musical turnoff, edging out Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.[90] In May 2013, the readers of Rolling Stone magazine named Nickelback the second worst band of the 1990s, behind only Creed.[91]

Damn son

I'm sure if you look at it deep enough you could probably blame them for the decline of rock this past decade. I'm hoping you could at least.

Nickelback hate is kinda memetic anyway, just as Justin Bieber bashing, or Kanye idolization or shit. They aren't my cup of tea, even though my sister suddenly started loving them recently, so I've been getting a fair dose of their music lately.

Let a man like what he likes, I say.

This applies to 99.97% of all mainstream artists.

They used the same exact music but just changed the lyrics for 2 songs. I'm pretty sure that's rare but then I don't listen to enough pop to know. Can you enlighten us of at least a dozen more similar examples, if it really is 99.97%?

What? Same exact? I don't agree.

And just listen to some other artist and they will have similar tune and rhythm to their music and songs.

That's because Nickelback has some good songs. Saw them live once with Default back in like 2002 and they were awesome. Come at me.

Hero is the only Nickelback song I kind of enjoy cause it reminds me of seeing the first Spider-Man movie when I was a kid.

Thankfully I didn't get into the band cause everything else I heard years later from them is bad.
I'm in the exact same camp. Hero was the first song and so far the only song I like that came out of Chad's mouth (though I think that might have more to do with him and his brother being the only Nickleback members involved in that song). Shame about his later stuff.

Every time you hear a Nickelback song, punch yourself in the scrotum.

You will eventually associate Nickelback with searing pain and have no further desire to listen to them.

Hating Nickelback is largely just a perpetuating internet joke, though it certainly sprung from people hating them legitimately.

But hey, spin what music sounds good to your ear's OP.
