I saw someone post a gif of Beyoncé where her ass is basically uncovered. I removed it, but please remember not to post pictures / gifs with bare ass in them!
Her falsetto is airier there. I used that as an example to highlight her agility in falsetto. That was a pretty complex run.
ACTUALLY, during the "Xtina is one of the best singers of out time" segment of tonight's episode of the voice, there was a GREAT example of her hitting an impressive falsetto run during one of the episodes. It was actually even better than the Aretha tribute.
I'll post it when someone rips it on Youtube.
Has it been uploaded yet?
And I wasn't trying to say, "She didn't sound steely there"; I was saying that she almost never sounds steely. She just isn't a singer with that kind of voice; steely voices - that cold, metallic, expansive quality - are basically the exclusive province of dramatic singers (and some spinto tenor voices, I suppose).
I don't mean that she can't have any "edge" to her voice. I've said before that I think Mariah is similarly light-voiced, and she put a bit of an edge into her voice at times, like the F5s in the intro of You're So Cold or the more intense belting in You Need Me, for instance. But even that isn't "steely" and I think we both agree that singing with that much intensity wouldn't be something a voice like hers should be doing all the time.
