Wat downgrade?
Microsoft would love to sell more Windows Phones but you get the feeling that it doesn’t mind seeing Android do well either, especially if it means billions of dollars in free money every year. Per Business Insider, Nomura analyst Rick Sherlund estimates in a new research note that Microsoft makes a whopping $2 billion a year in revenue every year simply from collecting patent royalties from Android vendors. Sherlund says that Microsoft’s margin on Android-related patent royalties is around 95%, which means that the company’s annual Android haul is almost pure profit. Sherlund goes on to say that Microsoft is using its Android cash to cover up massive losses that it takes from its Xbox division, which he says actually loses Microsoft $2 billion per year.
Was reading BGR and I saw this and since I'm a Junior I can't post new threads but I thought this was was quite interesting.

Nice Q&A:
You sure it is? Why do you think? They had a mixture of prerendered and realtime scenes, eg this one is real-time:

Well, you'd think the cutscenes that aren't supersampled are real time. There were many supersampled scened in the story trailer.Unlike Naughty Dog it doesn't seem like Crytek supersampled their cutscenes. No insult to Naughty Dog of course, but acting like they lied about the pre-rendered cutscenes is silly. It was also something known for a very long time given Eurogamer and others mentioned it at E3. One can hope the disc release will show less compression given it takes up 47 GBs.
Errrr, very heavy aliasing? You sure it is? Why do you think?
How surprising. Since Crysis, it's been one soulless game after another.
Ancient Rome with those graphics is good enough for a launch title to me.
I've read comments from the more rational posters on this site. The critiscm from Glam FM and Shinta etc. I've seen gameplay footage, read Polygons more reserved review.
These are the things I have to do when it comes to ND, to see through the hyperbole. And I'm confident game developers making more games like this would make me lose all interest in gaming.
Edit. That's not to say these games shouldn't exist for the people who like them. But I just can't see my fav developers making them as they're much more ambitious IMO.
Nice Q&A:
Can we talk about campaign length? How many hours?
A bajillion. You know... we can't.
There you have it, a bajilllion. You know it depends on each person.
Well, you'd think the cutscenes that aren't supersampled are real time. There were many supersampled scened in the story trailer.
Errrr, very heavy aliasing?
I have no idea what you're trying to say.
What is wrong with saying I have a single player preference and then listing "primarily single player games"? I overlooked Crimson Dragon, but I see nothing else worth mentioning in either library of launch exclusives.
Heavenly sword is bayonetta compared to this game. No, ryse is more like xbone's genji. So is this Lair or Heavenly Sword?
So is Rick Sherlund good or not as a source?
Interesting

God I hate selective quoting, Its the ED division that loses money, xbox doesnt lose 2 Billion a year. This money, says Sherlund, helps Microsoft hide the fact that its mobile and Xbox groups are burning serious cash.

Sherlund says that if you back out the Android profits, Microsoft is probably losing $2.5 billion on Skype, Xbox, and Windows Phone. Of that, $2 billion in losses are attributable to the Xbox platform.
Hmmm... "Hindle" isn't how "hypocrite" is spelled...Ancient Rome with those graphics is good enough for a launch title to me.
Why would Xbox be losing money at this point, let alone $2B a year? The hardware is profitable, XBL is a cash cow and the console enjoys good software sales (=royalties). I call BS on that report.

Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen isn’t the only longtime Microsoft associate who wants the company to dump Bing and the Xbox. Barron’s has flagged some more interesting details of a research note published Wednesday by Normura analyst Rick Sherlund, whom The New York Times once described as Goldman Sachs’ “point person” for its dealings with Microsoft and who is also a longtime friend of Bill Gates. What makes the note particularly interesting is that Sherlund’s advice largely mirrors that of Paul Ghaffari, the man who heads up Allen’s private investment vehicle: He wants Microsoft to get out of its unprofitable search and gaming businesses.
Maybe from all the spending they do on exclusive content? Nfl, EA, COD,etc. Why would Xbox be losing money at this point, let alone $2B a year? The hardware is profitable, XBL is a cash cow and the console enjoys good software sales (=royalties). I call BS on that report.
The Crytek guy on the stream I linked said none of the cutscenes are pre-rendered when asked about it.
That's true, some had higher aliasing. Then again, some gameplay footage in that trailer had tearing while other didn't. It could be a mix of old and new footages.Well, you'd think the cutscenes that aren't supersampled are real time. There were many supersampled scened in the story trailer.
Errrr, very heavy aliasing?
You said you preferred a lineup because you wanted single player games. No other criteria. All the games you named were single-player games.
No idea but that seems to be what the analyst says. I can't find anywhere that contradicts that's what Rick Sherlund said in his note on MS
It's just an analyst after all but people do listen to him
It still isn't adding up. More importantly, Xbox has been profitable since 2008, which is long before Android gained traction.Maybe from all the spending they do on exclusive content? Nfl, EA, COD,etc.
Not surprising in the least.
If it's got video compression, then it's a video file, it doesn't really take an eagle's eye to spot video compression artifacts at less than ideal bitrates. Crytek guy was probably thinking that cutscenes are not a CG rendered in Maya or something like that. They are created with their own engine. Bigger surprise is why the hell are they poorly compressed when they don't have to worry about the DVD size limit anymore. The Crytek guy on the stream I linked said none of the cutscenes are pre-rendered when asked about it.

So which one is it?
GI mentions that it is VERY easy and they were beating the game with one hand. Yet destructoid explicitly points out that the game is VERY hard.
At least xbox fans don't have to buy a playstation to see what quantic dreams games are like.
He said that particular one wasn't, and even then I'm not sure I believe him because the Skip prompt took time to show up (indicating that loading has finished). I don't think he was asked either, it was just a comment he made when they were gushing over CryEngine.
