Every fight she wins is gonna have stipulations. :\

But it's the truth...

She still defeated the hound, probabily one of the best warrior in the seven kingdom. Kudos to her.

But it was a little forced imho, i mean she took so many hit by the fucking hound and she got up like nothing happend and walked away... i mean, come on! Is she a cyborg or something like that?

I hate her now :(

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
Again, I think this sees the relationship as too simple and black and white if you think they weren't friends even a little.

Seriously. Arya seemed to have no problem going off on her own after the Hound died even though she had the option of being escorted by Brienne. If she wanted to run off on her own when she was still with the Hound she had plenty of chances. They became bros a little, admit it.

My biggest problem is that the fight felt forced.....like Martin sent her there just to have someone fight the Hound. And Aryra tells her she doesn't want to go with. Where the fuck is the honor in "keeping your oath" and essentially attempting to kidnap Ayrya ?

Just caught the finale. Didn't really think it was great. Saw it all coming a mile off and really couldn't bring myself to care when annoying kid from Love Actually got killed off.

Series in general wasn't anywhere near as good as past ones. No Red Wedding level of shock or anything.

Well yeah, but this...
Exactly, even though he's saved her life, it doesn't mean she has forgiven him for killing her friend, and that doesn't make her a douche.
She's not his friend. Even though they get along. She's merely using him as a teacher. She was always planning on dropping him when the situation came up. This just happened to be a freebie.

You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how crazy it may be...this was probably my favorite finale because it didn't feel like it was going out of its way to shock you. The red wedding was predictable from as far off as season 2 from the moment Robb's new lover showed up. Tyrion strangling Shae to death might've been the most shocking moment in the entire series---that shit came completely out of nowhere.

Uh, that's exactly what her oath is.
To kidnap Arya against her will?

That was really shitty of Arya. She'd be dead 15 times if not for the Hound.

Everyone is becoming a scumbag.

Jaime ftw.

A little thought popped into my head when seeing the burned winterfell during the opening title sequence, not sure if this has been discussed.

I believe there may be a greater significance to the saying heard predominantly throughout the first season 'There must always be a Stark in Winterfell.'

The only thing I could think of however was the Whitewalkers big attack on the Night's watch expedition north of the wall happened to occur around the same time as Brann and his younger brother fleeing Winterfell.

Point being it wasn't about 'dropping' him though as he wasn't asking her to save him, just to spare him a little mercy of a quick death. It's not really consistent with the scene of her trying to help tend to his wounds after he's told her that he's alone and abused as well.

Ow shit I was right about bold dude helping little dude. Thought their might be a bit of a similarity between little finger dude and ginger under age totty.

I did think big woman and burnt face big dude might have a little scrap then get it awn, they would be a perfect match.

Snow Boy and Northern Bore meeting was fun, they tight bro's.

Epic Dwarf revenge was pure boss, so long Deputy Prime Minister.

There needs to be more hot bro on sis action in this show.

You're doing this on purpose aren't you?

Huh? I'm confused, are you talking about the hound? I'm talking about the boy he killed in season 1.

Edit: never mind, you didn't direct that comment at me... I think lol.

To make sure she's safe. And that includes saving her from The Hound even if she doesn't want to go. There's no way she's safe with The Hound when there's a huge bounty on his head and he has to brush off outlaws, soldiers and vigilantes everywhere he goes.
I dunno. Does Brienne make any of these points herself? Either way, I think the Hound makes a better one when he reminds Brienne that Arya's father, mother, and brother were all dead---how was she going to keep Arya safe? And it still comes off a little messed up that she'd try to take her against her will.

Agreed. The show is a somewhat realistic setting with some small doses of fantasy here and there and then there is Bran's shit which is just ridiculously over the top.

Pretty much. The show did a very good job at downlaying most fantasy elements until now. I'm pretty fine with having exotic creatures and plants, direwolves, dragons, various humanoids walking around minding their own businesse like the giants or the whitewalkers. They all had their own agenda which was believable. Same with most demonstrations of "magic" most of it was divination (for all we know the Red Witch could make all her shit up) or allucinations. We had some strange stuff like ressucitation or face-changing, but it could very well have been a case of the narrator being over the top (that one guy really did some CPR while the other is good with make-up). Same with the wights, who are the cold equivalent of our zombies. I like sci-fi and imaginary worlds and was ready to accept most of it.

But a kid straight up throwing fireballs at animated skeletons, who disintegrate as soon as they cross a line in the sand? Nope.

Every time someone mentions the gods I try to make a point with how it could be explained with individual abilities being misinterpreted as the will of the gods, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if GRRM opened the skies to show deities fighting with ice and flames or something. And I would feel sorry for watching the show.

I think Jaime's character development this season has improved significantly.

Overall very good finale in my eyes, but I swear if they tease meetings again between Tyrion and Varys, and Arya in Braavos I'm guna flip my shit.

I admit i didn't see it coming from a mile away, but as soon as he walked into the room and i noticed it was a woman i realised it was Shae and what was about to happen. I thought he'd off Cersei too, but still.

I get what you mean about "going out of its way to shock you" though. I just feel the series on the whole was kind of boring because of it.

GoT has been fantasy from the start, it was just in the background and it's coming more into the forefront now.

what indication do we have that they're even going to Braavos?

I won't lie...when there was a naked woman in the bed, I was stumped. My brain was just going "Who the Hell is that?" And when she turned over "ooooooh shit!"

I think that's the point, it's not supposed to be clear to Arya. We as viewers know she has good intentions, but all Brienne has to show is that she was sent by Jaime Lannister and has one of his swords.

I feel like a lot of people who have been like "It's fantasy, but..." are going to get a rude awakening. A major theme has always been petty struggles between families ultimately being overshadowed by a larger, supernatural and - sorry - fantastical threat.

Agreed. I am honestly surprised how many are upset about the skeletons, child of the forest, etc. I feel like the show has done a great job of tip-toeing us into the fantasy element. Some may think the skeletons was a huge leap, but with everything that has come before, it was simply another step forward.
why is there fantasy in my fantasy show
Nice dragon avatar, nerd.
A friend of mine who's read the books says there's still a MASSIVE megaton from the 3rd book that didn't make it into this season, so we have that to look forward to next year. I've also seen a few posts elsewhere online mentioning that this episode kinda botched the Tyrion-Tywin showdown, that Tyrion's motivations weren't as fleshed out as they could've been.
Jesus. -covers eyes- Bail out!

Yeah, thats interesting. But that was before she had an opportunity. And was also before they found out that the aunt had died. At that point she could still help him because he was closer to life anyway. But now he's closer to death and she wouldn't be able to help him anyway.

We didn't see him die though. So I wonder if he'll actually be dead... Hmmm....

I hope Arya gets skewered with her own needle.

South of the Wall, its a historical novel based on the War of the Roses.

North of the Wall (including the Wall), its a high fantasy novel.

South of the Wall has shadow baby assassins, dragons, shape shifting assassins, teleporting warlocks, resurrections, etc.

hahaha yes, this so much. people seem to focus on kings landing as if its the most unfantastical element of the show, but dudes, there were so much 'out of the world' element with melisandre's weird magic and beric dondarrion and stuff :>

and then across the sea, there be dragons~ wheee

tbh i like the political intrigues the best too, but i really look forward to the zombie horde arc as well. WINTER is COMING, right???

My parents were talking loudly when the Shae scene was on and I somehow missed Shae call out for Tywin. Crazy!

Oh, and Frankie Boyle spoiled the Tywin death on twitter a few months back.

Maybe I missed it, but have they explained why the Baratheons had the best claim to the throne once the Mad King was deposed?

The Baratheons led and won the rebellion, that's the most important reason. They also have Targaryen blood on both sides(according to the Blu-Ray extras), but that's just justification.

I feel like that by not explicitly showing The Hound dying, he must have a further role to play.

Frankenmountain vs Zombiehound?

because the episode just aired. it's no longer a book spoiler. duh.

Other than the fact there are a few more books before the show catches up.

Maybe I missed it, but have they explained why the Baratheons had the best claim to the throne once the Mad King was deposed?

Because Robert overthrough the Mad King, that puts him on the throne. Since he's dead and has no kids, Stannis is the Mannis.
