So supposedly you can get GCU for free if you buy non-contract Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint phones. These phones run you $15 so that's $15 for GCU.
About to try it myself.
Did anyone do this twice to set themselves up for the next 4 years? I'm considering it although who knows how long this program will even last.
Has anyone had trouble getting GCU to show up on their best buy online shopping account? Mine doesn't seem to be acknowledging the GCU even though the gcu works in-store. I can see the reward zone's regular points stuff but no discounts seem to show up.
Q: Once I am a member of Gamers Club Unlocked, is there a limit to how many new video games I can buy with my 20% discount?
A: Yes. Members are limited to three copies of a new (i.e. not pre-owned) gaming software title per platform, per year. Collectors and Limited Editions count toward that title limit. Game of the Year editions, usually released much later including additional content do not count toward that limit but would essentially start as a separate game and limit.
I'm currently exploring the site right now and it seems to have acknowledged that I'm a part of the GCU immediately. If you are on the main MyBestBuy page, click on "View Certificates" and on the following page, underneath the progress bar of how much you need to spend to reach Elite Plus status, there is the GCU stuff. For me, anway.
Man them not offering the $10 for preordering on Nintendo titles is real unfortunate. Wonder why that is.
So is this talking about three copies of the SAME game being limited or is the limit of 20% off indeed 3 different games per platform per year?

I am looking on how to maximize trade-ins with this.
Does the trade in require the box and manual? If not, do you lose out on a lot by not trading them in?

How can I apply to it online?
I would like to know this too.I take it this is not applicable to the Canadian branch?
I'm a newbie to GCU so if it stacks on top of this promo then hell yes! It's 60% with GCU right? I'm planning on going down there Friday and trading in some games and picking up Bayonetta 2. Have to wait since they won't have the game until then and it's too damn far to drive to make multiple trips.
Will also cancel my Smash preorder in-store since I ordered the bundle online.
I have a few questions that I didn't see answered, or if I overlooked them, apologies in advance.
1. Do you get the $10 reward certificate for preordering in store, online only, or both?
2. Is there a way to know which games offer the $10 reward certificate for preordering?
3. How much is required to preorder a game in store?
I've only ever preordered games from Amazon, and I like that they don't charge you until the game ships. I saw someone in this thread say that Best Buy charges the full amount when preordering online. I'm hoping that in store is similar to Gamestop's $5 down.

Do you get the pre-order promotions of $10 reward points for only pre-ordering online and then picking it up in store, or do you get it if you pre-order online and have it shipped to you?

So I'm a member until 2016.
I placed an order for GTA V online for $47.99 (sweet!)
How do I make sure I get the $10 certificate for preordering the game?
Just traded in Shadow of Mordor for $42
Dayum!
In my experience, Best Buy's trade in values aren't that great...worse than GameStop's for most of the games I looked up in the past. It may get a slight advantage with the 20% new game discount, but it's not as decisive an advantage as it should be.
How does pre-ordering work with BB? I want to head over and PO GTA V and never PO'd something from them before. Do they work the same way GameStop does?
So I can't seem to preorder the Smash bundle for in store pick-up. All the stores just show unavailable. Hm... I guess maybe I'll have to pre-order for shipping? Or hope that they have the bundle in stores, but that sounds risky.

50% bonus credit on trade-ins this week! According to someone on Reddit, this DOES stack with the 10% bonus for GCU, but that 10% only applies to the base price.
e.g. Mario Kart 8 normally trades in for $26, so this week it's worth 26 + 2.60 from GCU + 13 from the promotion, for a whopping $41.60.
And yeah the thing were you can get GCU for $30 with the purchase of a $40 game is still going on.
