Why don't American stores just let everyone preorder? Is the Switch in that much higher demand than in Europe?
"Sorry, you're not eligible to preorder a Switch. How would you like to preorder for a used Switch?"
So uh basically if I don't win the lottery looks like I can't pre-order the Switch
I'll be very upset if I can't get one and play Zelda at launch tbh
What are the chances of being able to get one without a pre-order on launch day?

P slim if you're in NA. Maybe try camping out in front of a Target like 24 hours in advance?
Definitely not? How do you figure?lol
Definitely not.
Maybe they were confused with your sentence. It's definitely more in demand in America than Europe. I thought I read preorders in Europe didn't even sellout yet.Definitely not? How do you figure?
Was by one so I went in. The clerk was nice and answered questions I had, but he had no idea about the promotion.
Gamestop being Gamestop.
I don't have one. I'm going to try a few stores around midnight, then if not try some other stores in the morning when they open up. Last ditch resort will be like Toysrus or Kohls (They sell consoles..so maybe?). Worst comes to worse, I'll pick up Zelda on Wii U; play it, sell it, and then rebuy it when I get a switch.
Which is why you don't have to buy a thing or put down any money or join any membership to win...

Mine had 0 idea about this thing, looked at me like I was nuts and I just walked out.
Perfectly reminding me why I do my game shopping online these days.

I went to my closest GSM at opening and the guy was completely clueless. He then called 4 other GS stores and none of them knew what was going on. On my way home jus5 30 min ago walked into a different GS and they said they had one an hour before. She was a nice clerk and told me to check Walmart since she said they had a sign for pre orders the night before. So uh basically if I don't win the lottery looks like I can't pre-order the Switch

Worthless. Kind of like Gamestop.
Does this mean I can't just walk into a store and get a Switch?
I walked into Gamestop today to see if I could reserve a Switch for my son's birthday based on this promotion. The employee told me that they'd just got 1 in and it was available to those who were pro members. It sounded like a con to me, but I parted with $14.99 and got my pre-order in.
The next customer in line had called earlier and was aware there was 1 available, but the Gamestop employee said there were none left now.
I believe I got lucky based on timing, but I guess this is how these things go sometimes.

Already got mine paid in full, losers!
My brother is gonna scalp his if he can get $400 plus shipping. Smart man.
People mad at scalpers oughtta be mad at Nintendo.
Did they make you put a down payment on it?My receipt doesn't say much to be honest. It doesn't mention Nintendo or anything other than 'Available SKU'. However, when I log onto my power up rewards account, the item is there with a release date of 3/3/2017.
Did they make you put a down payment on it?
If not, they might say "oops" and you suddenly have no preorder and are now a GS member.
They made my brother put down $50... I'd check in.1c. I'm fully aware of what they 'might' do, I'll report back on the 3rd and I'll let you know how happy or disappointed my son is!

/s? bait? If you are serious, god help your soul.
