WHAT THE FUUUCK

This is what I wake up to :(
These guys are literally the only major gaming site I go to frequently. Always wait for their reviews. God damn it man.

Brandon. Video reviews aren't the same without your voice work. Even when someone else did it, it wasn't the same. You and the crew made something special. Wish you all luck in the future.

This really sucks. I love their original shows and twitch streams.
I hope they can continue in some way. I would support them on patreon.
And horrible to not even know that you are getting fired until the day it happens. What a disgusting employer.

Playing video games is my number one hobby, but I also find it to be a somewhat isolating experience. I don't have any friends to talk to about games. I'm really the only gamer among my group. We're all getting older and married and moving away.

Games have always been a sanctuary for me to go and be a kid again. In high school and through college I would look forward to the 1Up Show. They were the friends I could communicate with about games. Then it was no more.

For a long time I found no replacement. I liked a few people it IGN...but there was no substitute.

Then GameTrailers came around and really established itself as a unique voice in a such an increasingly nasty and commercial business. Bosman came around and was, to me, a Jon Stewart type for the industry. Funny, weird, poignant.

Huber made me laugh so much with his intense, slow delivery and genuine adulation for video games. Ben and Bloodworth wrote some fantastic reviews (Bloodborne is especially excellent). Elyse was hilarious, smart and deadpan. (Also the only girl in the boy's club).

Ian's slightly nihilistic take on everything was especially hilarious. And, the happy patriarchal figure of the group with the voice that made you think everything would be ok was Jones. Truly a class act and entrepreneur.

So for a couple of years I found my replacement of 1Up. A new group of friends I could listen to and in my mind, talk about games. For that short time it was GameTrailers. Now they're gone. I wish the best for everyone because wherever they go, I'll be sure to follow.

Thanks for all the fun. Goodnight and good game.

This is so true.

I really think GT can get the Patreon thing to work... I just hope they CAN give it a try, that they are not in a really difficult moment or something so they can't... try it at least.

Also, thank you guys so much for downloading and archiving the videos, does someone have a playlist for all the ManUps?

(Also, what happened with the videos for tabletop adventures, like, after the first one? There is a weird cut and a big jump)

Fuck. What terrible news to wake up to.
I'm really sad right now :(

Gt has been my "go to" videogame site since like the final year of middle school. And their content and reviews have remained as some of my favorite over all these.
Just having no final bosman to look forward to, or GT time to listen to on my way to work or simply rushing to their site when I see reviews for a new game are being posted is going to be really weird. Not to mention that E3 just won't be the same.

Thanks for all the years of fun guys. I hope each of you can find a new job and keep doing what you love.
And if by some chance you somehow manage to make something together know that you will have my full support

...This news hit me hard. I literally haven't looked at another gaming site/ channel for months and months. I have been a huge fan since last E3, it's a damn shame it couldn't last.

What will I watch on from now on...? Please go and start another site/ a Kinda Funny competitor and bring the whole crew, I love you all.

I used the used the podcast they had every week about 5 years ago. I guess a lot of people moved on like I did :/

Good luck finding new jobs GT!

I can't picture any video reviews without his smoothing voice. Gt was my go-to site for reviews. I didn't have anywhere else before gaf.

Damn... kinda nostalgic thinking about watching their reviews back in the day, always were my favorites. Lots of great features too.

Haven't posted in probably 5 years but I used to frequent the forums around the PS3 and Wii launch till then.

Thats rough and comes really surprising.

I liked their reviews and some of the special content and long running shows they had...wow hope they get new jobs soon, or maybe move to youtube and get some good shows running, they sure got the talent

It kind of seemed like the beginning of the end when the acquisition happened but I remained hopeful.

Final Bosman is/was my favorite weekly show. He had better continue somehow. Real shame for the rest as well, hope they land at a better place. They all seemed like really cool people.

Good luck GTers, another great video game site gone.

We all knew it wasn't going to last, but this was really the best GT crew, the best crew in all the gaming sites ever period.
Down to earth and eager, everyone put his best work in, because they cared and felt individually responsible for the outcome of their work. Kudos to Brandon for believing in the young guys from day one.
I bet Defy tried to put them to rest for a long time, but these guys were a persistent bunch.

I hope they get to stay together and land a new gig soon enough. I'll be there for sure.

Anyone know which videos from gametrailers.com aren't on Youtube?

If it's a huge amount of videos (like all videos before a certain date), I probably won't download them myself, but it'd be good to know (since it seems as though a few people are downloading the Youtube channel just in case).

Edit: I know it's probably not possible, but man if someone at GT could allow directory listings for "http://wpc.10016.edgecastcdn.net/0010016/gtcomstor/" it'd make it so easy to download every video they've uploaded. It's a CDN though so I guess that's not possible.

You're breaking my heart Bosman,

What the shit.

:(

I managed to catch the last stream but it still hasn't really sunken in that such a great crew of people who were genuine in their own ways just ends like that. I do sincerely hope everyone at GT lands on two feet and stay connected with each other whether it's in front or off the internet camera. Thank you for all your zany contributions to what is many times feels like a bleak, cynical industry.

Sad to see them go. For me Gametrailers died when Shane and Grumpy left. Kyle was the sole reason I checked in on the site after that.
Hope the team get back on their feet soon.

The website itself was pretty awful but they finally had a great group of guys.

Their reactions to Sony's E3 of dreams was genuinely refreshing to see. I'd love to see them start their own site.

this 100% :'(

This news breaks my heart. I always joke with my wife that Wednesday is "Bosman day." I have even had embracingly recurring dreams that I was actually friends with the crew over there. It was really the only gaming site I could tolerate, with its special mix of skepticism and hope devoid of commercialism that lacks in so much of game journalism. It was a site that made me feel like my interest in gaming could be an adult pursuit. Right now, I feel like my high school girl friend has just broken up with me, and I doubt I'll ever love again. Tomorrow will forever always be yours. Goodbye GT.

Guess I should've known this was coming when Game Trailers launched their site it was different time, and the business of video games was different. Having a site which emphasized showing clips of games was a big deal years ago, now not so much. What I will miss most is what the site evolved into Starting with shows like HAWP, and hosts like Marcus Beer gave GT an identity. One which continued with Bossman with him representing the the everyday person who plays games That came out so well after last year's E3 with combination of frank criticism and mark-out moments. Genuine fandom is just not common these days, and these guys weren't afraid to let there freak flag fly. Thanks to Game Trailers team for the years of entertainment, at least for myself this site will be missed more than 1UP, and best of luck to them.

I feel like we just lost one of the few "positive" gaming media. :(

I actually never really thought about that. Almost every other outlet I usually read is full of people who absolutely hate videogames. GT guys adored them however - and that's why people say they shill too much and hype things too much on Reddit and other websites. We're kind of conditioned to be cynical bastards today and think the industry does nothing but fuck us over.

Im just glad FF7r, TLG and shenmue 3 happened while they were still there.

Yet at the same time it's really sad that they won't be around, at least together, to react to these games when they are released.

Now thinking about it.... this would have been such a great year. Would have love to get their opinions, reviews and discussions around Uncharted 4, FFXV, Persona 5, Horizon, For Honor, Doom, Deus Ex, Dark Souls 3, The NX reveal, etc

:(

I didn't really see this coming but I don't think it's too much of a surprise. The hook with Game Trailers is that they were a video game media outlet on the internet that provided you with videos and the proliferation of Let's Players on YouTube have kinda made it redundant.

Strange that they just shut down. Aren't they being absorbed? GT isn't a small media and I'm sure many would be interested in absorbing them.

GT's Street Fighter 5 tournament is within a week!

Are you fucking kidding me?

They are the best in the business. I don't even care about any other sites. I watch their shows almost every day...

FUCK :/

Man what shitty news to wake up to :(

Can't believe they're gone, they had turned into into one of the few gaming sites I frequented the last 7 years.
Will miss the entire crew from Jones, Bosman, Blood, Ian, Elyse and the old guard like Damiani.
We're losing such a unique and vibrant voice in games media.

Hope they all land on their feet or who knows, start their own thing.
Best wishes to everyone there.

Edit: Friday morning at work without GT time anymore ugh.

Who would take them though? Pretty much all big videogame media sites have been downsizing. Traditional videogame coverage isn't exactly a hot investment at the moment.

Wow, just woke up to this. I suppose im part of the problem, I only watched the Final Bossman show now. The site redesign was the beggining of their death.

Glad to see you guys trying to save the most important videos like retrospectives.
