Keep hearing conflicting reports about changing time zones to access the game early. Some people say you’ll get banned, which honestly doesn’t make a lot of sense, some say there’s no consequences.
Any final answers to this? Ha anyone here switched time zones and played a game early *recently* without consequence?

Spent about 4 hours yesterday troubleshooting the Xbox app/Microsoft store bullshit....ended up resetting Windows, then had to do a Linux USB distro in order to delete legacy WindowsApps folders....but! I got this preloaded, just in time to go on a work trip through Sunday

Escape was... confusing. Time kept changing, no idea why. We just ran around like headless chickens with almost no ammo. Pushed some buttons, killed some locust, and then we were done.
Regular MP will take some time getting used to, for sure. Flow is a little bit different from 4. Not to mention all the maps.
The store is disgusting! As expected. Don't really care about it, but just knowing it's there is taking some joy out of the game for me. Don't want to support this bullshit.

Played through act 1 chapter 1 today, so so good. Played w headset on and the audio was just as impressive as the visuals. Loving it so far!

How does this game look so good AND is 60fps? What magic is this? I can’t help but think of Rage 2, 60fps sure but only 1080p and not as nice looking.

I'd be more concerned with making purchases in another region than unlocking in another region. Can you not switch it back and have it unlocked? Its such an easy switch on the Xbox. I'm not going to try it because I can just wait it out.

So I have Game Pass Ultimate and can play Gears 5 early.
I also have the regular edition dlc like Sarah Connor.
But I don't have all the other Gears 5 Ultimate Edition DLC boni.
I play on PC.

I think it comes down to changing your location in order to access different time zone content early. Not if someone is legit taking their console with them on a business trip — those are all different IP addresses. If they see you switching back and forth, which happens to coincide with the launch of a big game, well...

People have been switching locations for years. I've been doing it on PC easily for the last...7 years?? Or so and not a single time has it ever been a problem.
Only thing that may cause issues is if you switch locations to a different country to try and take advantage of regional pricing that is cheaper than where you are.
People wanting to switch regions to unlock will be fine. Nothing is gonna happen.

Multi is so good! Played 4 matches of king of the hill and I'm loving it.
My only complaint like most people is the damage indicator, it's like my guy stubs his toe and boom the whole screen is red and super distracting.

I'm playing co-op campaign with my wife on xbox, i'm player 2... we got through Act 1 chapter one and when chapter 2 started I no longer have any dialogue audio either from the TV or the Astro A50 headsets i'm using. I can hear other ambient noises but all dialogue is now missing. I have subtitles on but this is very irritating to the point that I don't want to keep playing until it's fixed. I love all the story and banter between characters.

Didn't realise it came early here in Australia and was playing for an hour or so last night.. 5th September 9.30pm AEST.
First impressions are that it's got my attention a lot more than 4. I'm looking forward to jumping back in after work tonight. I was not impressed when playing through the Boot Camp tutorial but when the campaign started it was all good. It looks really beautiful in some areas. I'm playing on 70 inch Samsung 4K HDR TV and some of the colours really pop, looks fantastic!

I'm on chapter 3 of Act 1, this blows 4 out of the water so easily. I found 4 to be boring and somewhat uninspiring, yet 5 just feels like it knows what it wants to do and that is going BIG.
Graphically, WOW it looks and plays amazingly. There's no way anyone whose like the franchise can find this one to be bad, it hits all the Gears high notes and more.

Agreeeed. The visuals is mad, the story and events up until now are insane. The directing too is top notch!
No, you can't. These are the same people claiming you get banned from steam for connecting with a vpn, except in this case it's even dumber because you're only changing your system region. Some days I can't fathom how the majority of people manage to survive from morning to night with so little critical thinking ability.
Edit: To be clear, you could get banned from steam for logging in with a vpn in order to purchase a game in a region other than your own. They give zero shits if you log in with a vpn to play a game you already purchased in your home region.

Man, game is smooth. Running 4k, max settings, HD textures installed, and getting a near solid 60fps with a 1080ti? Whoosh.
Edit: Scratch that. 4k is closer to 50fps on average. 1440p is a solid 60, tho.

What's REALLY crazy is that this is only The Coalition's second game as a team... I've played most of the first Act and i'm just totally blown away. Haven't even touched any MP yet. Imagine what they will be capable of delivering in Gears 6 on next gen hardware! Oh man...

I bit and played until Act 1 Chapter 3. The fire looks great, but fire has been good on XBO this gen. About shart myself when I saw a brumak going into the 3rd Chapter. At first it was a bit of a typical warm welcoming back into the game, some of it felt like a slog (mainly filler stuff to make the story progress), but it has definitely picked up.

So now I can't load my single player campaign save apparently due to 'server' problems. Also constant audio crackling. Welcome to 2019, where you pay an additional $20-$40 to be a late stage beta tester for a game that's not ready for wide release.
Edit: And yeah I'm lol'ing along with the other folks pointing out the new 'win32 support'. I can't even setup a logitech ghub profile to fix the absurdly fast mouse movement because the wrapper binary for the game is considered a protected system file.
