Ghost of Tsushima |OT| - Summer blade cuts through, the PlayStation shall go on, this is its swan song

Travel back to the 1st area and just ride your horse through a road, you will eventually find a group of enemies with a hostage. Doing it in the 1st area is much easier.
It‘s not that I struggle with a standoff, it‘s that I only ever find a group of 4 somehow.

I swear that "Granny" mission had to have been trolling us all right? Like the whole thing is a big joke "HAH HAH WE MADE CUTSCENES UNSKIPPABLE AND ARE GOING TO FORCE YOU TO WATCH THIS" Followed by "ALSO ISNT IT SUPER FUN TO BE FORCED TO WALK REAL SLOW AND TALK TO THIS GRANNY?"

Man there is so much kino in here it's awesome.
Finally back from my vacation and continuing where I left off. Just as much fun as on day one.

i don't like to hate on the combat, it's just an opinion, we are not children cmon.

and i never said that the game is not varied, between stealth, ninja tools and melee combat is varied enough, it's just too easy, i know that it looks mighty fine when you are good at it, never said otherwise.
I don't know I thought Lethal was pretty freaking hard, I'll admit normal was too easy but hard mode was reasonably challenging, plus I only really used the sticky bombs and smoke bombs for combos, I tried to stay away from the shurikens unless I needed to kill the dogs since they are a bit OP. I also very rarely sneaked around and assassinted anyone I always just challenged everyone when I could. I was thinking of picking up Nioh 2 next is that combat more your style?

Im nearly at the last mission and I still need a few gold for my last sword upgrade and the last mythic tale. Do these come on the main questline?

Finished it last night. It's an okay game, but not even close to being great. It has missed it's time with it's dull open-world and activities in it as I think most of us are exhausted by it in all the other similar games. 7/10 is a fair score to me.
All open-world game suffer from the same problem, though in GoT I never felt as burdened by the familiar fatigue I feel with the genre as its central gameplay loop is so well executed. GoT has proven to me that if you can make the central core of the gameplay so enjoyable, it can help largely mitigate other problems intrinsic to the genre.
20 Insane details about GoT. I was going to make a new thread as this will probably get buried.

Sounds like ND rubbing off on SP. Either way they upped their game to make this.

I want Naughty Dog's influence to stay as far away as humanly possible from all other games. Druckmann has already perverted enough as is with his ideological hamfisted garbage. I'm all for attention to detail, as long as it remains just that.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Put in another 7 hours playing this game yesterday. I'm still in Act II.

The sidequests in this game are absolutely insane, and I find them to be far more interesting than the main quest. It's also really cool to see the side characters evolve somewhat as you advance. Still loving this game, though every time I boot it up I think "okay, I should just do the main quest line and advance the story" then nope....

in general yeah, i prefer souls combat compared to free flow combat and nioh is one of the better souls game out there in terms of combat, also soulslike are generally more difficult.

i didn't played nioh2 yet, let's just say that except for the combat and some boss fights, i didn't really liked nioh1 that much and i hope they fixed the flaw of the first one.

I don't agree completely , alot of open world games suffer from tht fatigue because the quests suck or the world is empty but there are a few that when are so well done tht that fatigue doesn't exist at least imo. Horizon, Days Gone, GOT, all made a lush, well populated, fun world with great side quests with great direction. Never got burned out or tired of any of those.

It's not so much the writing, just the formula. I found the quests very well done (and at least on par with The Witcher III), but combat was always the determining factor in making the game so enjoyable that it helped transcend the redundancy of progression. At least until open-worlds find a way to introduce a bit more unpredictability into the mix.

It must be wild to see yourself in a game. Every one of these I watch has them giddy like kids.

I’m curious as exactly how they accomplish it as he said he’s never seen it before. Are their faces simply used as reference? Do they act in the cutscenes ala TLoU? That was higher budget so I wonder if in this it was all hand done. Is he also the voice actor (his voice sounds notably higher pitched than Jin’s, and the Japanese voice actor is different)?

i’ve played a ton of dark souls 3, i love that game but i play it a bit differently though, i equip only the faram helmet, no upper armor, desert pyromancer gloves, and dragonscale waist cloth with the morne great shield/stone great shield and than the winged spear/dragon slayer spear or sometimes the lothric knight long spear. i use the havel ring and level up my stats to get the fast roll for max mobility. it’s actually a lot of fun with this setup but pretty hard since any time you miss a block you’re going to feel it, but it feels like ur playing as a true spartan.

Anyone know what word they are translating “ghost” to in the Japanese dub?

It sounds like “kurouda” or くろうだ to me but apparently that’s not a Japanese word haha.

Is not 亡霊? ぼうれい
冥人 くろうだ is a dark person lols.

I think in game is Kurouda, but when you translate the title to Japanese is bourei.

Of course is a western game so the title is just ghost ゴースト

Btw
冥人とは最初にも書いたが蒙古を討ち滅ぼすために冥府から蘇ったものという意味の言葉で、サムライとはまた違う存在だ。

Kurouda means reborn from underworld to destroy Mongolia

That Kojiro was hard! Took me some tries to kill him

I play hard mode and he bodied me until I switched to the Gosaku armor and charms based on stagger and damage. Took him out on the first try. Those duels are about staggers.

I think Gosaku is the best armor in the game. I usually go Sakai for stand offs and then switch to it. Ghost is pretty good if you want ghost stance. The Kensei probably if you bank on kunai etc. You can play it quite differently and all approaches seem to work out.

I did every single duel in the game with perfect parries (with charm) + dance wrath. I realized it was much easier do dodge unblockables and parry than wasting my time trying to stagger and get 1-2 hits before the enemy recovered.
Ghost stance also works on bosses (kinda silly), so it's 3 free hits at the start.

I hope there’s a patch coming that will fix the constant texture drop out.

Oh god damn I thought my ps4 pro is glitched or something, but yes the context texture drop sometimes is distracting. Let me explain to those who aren't sure what this is, when you turn around the camera, for a flash of a second or two you see white screen with no assets rendered yet to show you the game world. Also happens when you linger the camera across one type of environment when moving and move your camera, for a quick sec nothig loads

ffs Sucker Punch remaster the first inFamous games come on now.

Honestly I am not ready for remaster. Rather a remake from the ground up akin to Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls. Which means we need Bluepoint to work on it not SP. SP needs to continue crafting newer experiences or perhaps even a sequel to Ghost <3

So is Tomoe the best character in the game or what?

Probably the best Tale, and I liked her character a lot. Very complex character in fact, I think she should have had more screen time.

Also Kunimitsu mask.

It honestly felt like trolling because it's like "humor old granny and do these boring things you used to complain about as a child".. and as it turns out...walking to a cemetery and praying is in fact, boring as shit lol

It's くろうど (Kurodo), which is a word that exists, but the Kanji they assigned to it appears to be something they made up to represent the idea of someone who rises from the underworld. It's a cool choice and allows them to differentiate from 亡霊(ぼうれい) ghosts and spirits, which also appear as a concept in the game.

Rank 8 (which I just got last night) is actually called "亡霊の侍" (ぼうれいのさむらい), which is basically "Ghost Samurai."

In the japanese VA they dont say Kurouda, they say Kurodo.

In Overwhelming areas they just aimbot you out from all angles. Like saying 'come back here when the story demands it'. But I feel it might be possible to clear it, though its useless.

Really bugs me there's no button for just putting my sword away.

Starting to really dig how SP have done the map discovery, apart from quests you could pretty much just find everything without the map, using animals, smoke etc, feels .I've exploring for a change in ooen worlds

Shame the grapple hook isn't more like tenchu, but fine I guess, but feels limited

Music needs to be louder too, had to drop the rest of the sound, just to boost it

Only just into act 2, really getting into it now
