Ghost of Yotei: Odachi gameplay (short clip)

Why do all these gameplay trailers from GoY look horribly bad? I loved GoT, platinumed the game. I should have been all excited for GoT's successor but I feel nothing. Everything they've shown so far was a disappointment or underwhelming... Don't understand this at all.

Just show the dog, man.

This looks better than the last clip.

I might turn off Miike mode though, that camera is way too zoomed in and swimming.

Edit: By the way they should hire someone to play this game on it's hardest mode and then record that same battle. There's a ton of youtubers they could have paid to do this:

I beat and platted Ghost of Yotei but then I played Nioh and Sekiro afterwards and like... yea. Kind of ruined everything else tbh. Actually I should get back to Nioh.

Do you think people are just over rhe "cinematic" action game where it looks like most of the animation is just the game doing that for you. Im looking forward to goy but im trying to figure out whay might have changed the tone.

Elden ring and from soft games are cultural phenomenon now. People like hard games. These flashey simple, more cinematic games are maybe not as appealing to the masses anymore?

Two things I don't like. First, the camera is too close, I don't understand why but that will be a problem for sure while fighting many enemies

Another issue I see, why are enemies so passive? Why don't they attack instead of waiting their turn to die?

It's weird

Which is surprising because SunhiLegend does great videos normally.

Finally a good choice of environment and enemies who at least lifted their arms. Still not my style for a trailer, but I can at least give this one a C+.

Yep. Hard pass on Miike mode. Went from "show me more of it" to "please kill it with fire"

I feel the same way but I understand why

These gifs are all made on easy mode. There was another guy who made them, cant remember but their name began with M

  • Hyper tracking on everything. That jump off the horse looks insane as she rapidly accelerates forward faster than Spider Man.
  • Enemies just standing around watching.
  • Two enemies right next to each other are twins.
That said, it looks like the first one and I'm sure it would be fun for a bit. Some of the animations are nice draw cuts.

It's an optional "Miike mode" on easiest difficulty. Close camera and increased blood and gore. Some knob at Sucker Punch seems to think it's cool and so we witness this dumpster fire burn for weeks... 🤷‍♂️

The game is looking underwhelming. Like, they don't know how to properly showcase the game, and the enemies waiting their turn to attack only serves to aggravate things. They need to show the game at its best.

Yeah yeah keep telling that to yourself

Lol, okay, Yeah. If you have 40 guys, their animation timing will regularly sync up and you'll have a bunch of them attack you at the same time. Look at the 10 seconds between 1:45 and 1:55 in your video. There's at least 20 enemies on screen and only 1 guy charges. 10 seconds after that, still about 20 guys, and only 3 of them charge Jin. And this is on Lethal where enemies are more aggressive.

The Yotei gif was more than likely played on easy mode - and if the difficulty/accessibility settings are the same - on low intensity.

The worst thing I can say about this game based on what we've seen so far is that combat is no worse/no better than Tsushima.

This is also on lethal. Watch how everyone dutifully waits their turn while Jin slices up their comrade.

I don't know about you guys, and this might not be totally on-topic, but I really, really miss marketing from the early 2000s or even the mid 2010s. I don't just mean video games, this extends to all media. It was much more "vibrant" and, more professional, and people seemed to know exactly how to address their audience. The marketing material was hype as shit and there was much more effort and content shown. Maybe some of it is nostalgia but I don't think so. I still remember how cool the marketing phase of Assassin's Creed 3 and Skyrim were, that was such a good time.

Now I look at this and it's just so fucking disappointing. A bunch of short mini clips here and there that feel like "here, damn, leave us alone you twats" or tons of radio silence. Others might prefer this, but I really don't.
