GI: Guerrilla Addresses Our Biggest Fears About Horizon Zero Dawn

This is good stuff I'm hearing. I'm still wary about pathfinding but I like what I'm hearing. Combat looks good, platforming seems a bit boring but since it's not linear like Uncharted there's more room for failure which is good. Everything about this game seems solid.

Gameplay looks fun but all I care about it story because

How is that? With an advanced civilization that had been destroyed you wouldn't expect to find some information through writings and recordings? It makes perfect sense for this game. It's like people are looking for things to nitpick and complain about before seeing how it is implemented.

Yep you don't expect people in the world to know everything or most thing about certain parts of the world .

Game looks amazing, took all my BOW hype away for the time being. Hope they don't launch one next to the other.

What about the protagonist's incessent chatter?
Figured it would be a metroid fan complaining about characters talking. :3
In a serious note, from what I've seen, it's not an issue. You can also lower voice volume.

You're right. For this game it does makes more sense for Alloy to find remnants of the previous civilisations. But it all still depends on how it's implemented. Dragon Age: Inquisition bored me to tears and I love the DA lore (have all the novels plus the games). So we'll see. Whomever is doing the writing for those bits, that's also important.

I think this will be GG's breakout game. Third person action adventure games with a high quality bar are much more appealing to non-CoD players in comparison to a first person shooter.

1. I REALLY hope her internal dialogue isn't nearly as constant as we've seen, even during the fights. Regardless of what focus testings have shown, typical gamers can actual get through tough parts without having things spelled out for us.

2. What is it with white females with red hair in videogames? That's like the new space Marine.

3. I hope you guys add some non-paid post final boss missions and activities to stay in the world.

I don't like that the janky "platforming" was mentioned as variety in gameplay. I'm really over that Uncharted like traversal that has no danger or challenge to it.

Probably is. I've seen that sentiment everywhere.

You can turn them off and.... that's the end of the conversation.
I especially do this once I'm totally familiar with a particular game's controls or interface -- I turn off those quest markers and just wander around with maybe the main quest as my only guiding light.

I do nothing but raise my brow when people complain about quest markers... It's so dumb. It's so incredibly dumb.
this just isn't true. these games are always designed for quest markers. they don't have the work put in to make them work well without the markers. markers and quest lines invalidate the entire point of open world.

Would you rather everything had stairs or ladders attached to it? It's essentially just an organic way of letting you traverse the world vertically. It doesn't need to be challenging, just like pressing forward on the analogue stick isn't challenging - it's just a means of navigating the game, except instead of going horizontal you go vertical and instead of needing stairs or ladders you use a ledge.

They haven't addressed my biggest fear with the game, framerate. It's already only 30, so I hopes it's a diamond rock solid 30. And on ps4, not pro.

What else did you want?

Party system, stats management, more customized builds, and a complex crafting system.

From what I read it looks like some NPCs could fight with Aloy in some encounters rather than following Aloy around doing her quests.
It seems also there will be an upgrade tree, rather than points to invest in atk, int, or dex.
Playstyle seems to centre around long range with occasional melee. Can I focus on melee instead?? Can I use a two handed sword?
Alas the crafting looks simple tbh, ala TLoU and TR.

Obviously these aren't slights against the game, as it looks great and the team seems to know where they are going with this game. I just like a more traditional RPG.

Optional bosses hopefully means unique massive enemies that are an extreme challenge with unique/exceptional rewards for defeating them.

Yeah this sounds cool.
The demos we've encountered haven’t been easy, but Guerrilla assures us they’ve made a game players of all different experience levels can play. Advanced optional bosses are out there for those who revel in taking on the biggest challenges, but nothing should be so difficult that players throw their controllers in frustration. Players constantly have ways to improve their characters with various quests, from taking down corruption zones to helping tribes get stronger.

You can focus on melee btw, they have a skill tree for it.

Brave is all about upgrading your brute force with new melee attacks

Putting points into Forager gets you better materials for crafting and override skills, Prowler is centered on stealth, and Brave is all about upgrading your brute force with new melee attacks. When you upgrade these tiers, you gain access to new skills to change up the way you fight, from instant-kill attacks to certain bonuses such as stat boosts. New machines also pop up in different areas, forcing you to adjust your strategy and learn their weaknesses.

I wonder if it's possible to make a pure melee or pure minions build.

Optional bosses hopefully means unique massive enemies that are an extreme challenge with unique/exceptional rewards for defeating them.
That giant spider does not look like a common enemy.

I'd be in the dick

If there's more stuff like scaling the Tallnecks, then there's bound to be a lot more danger and interactivity when climbing large machines.

Are there even lions in Colorado?

Then again it's been a 1000 year so. Who knows.

Cougars or Mountain lions, and possibly people who own said animals like that guy in ohio who had his own personal zoo with tigers, lions, grizzlies that he let escape

Man, this is shaping up to be soooo good.

Please have a great story and have it represented in the world. Mystery is key too

This. If they pull it off like they have described it's going to magical. I love everything they're saying about the story and the mystery/discoveries awaiting.

Also that shot of Aloy going into a "cave" with the electrically lit up door. The little futuristic device she carries with her and wears, so many great details.
