Yep, Danielle is great. I stopped listening to Idle Thumbs when she left. Basically because she was the gaming part of that gaming podcast.

Rec room was amazing! First class trolling by handibot. Jeff really needs to stop saying "stuff" and "stuff like that" every other bloody sentence though. All through this video, all through the podcast. Seriously, man learn more words. And stuff.

Did Idle Thumbs get really bad? I fell off at a point purely because of lack of free time, but I see comments like this about it here and there

They lost me when Chris Remo went on a 10 minute soliloquy about the deep existential meaning of Desert Golf.

Nice to see Jeff get excited about OG Boulderdash. He should do a let's play of that.
Sad the new Boulderdash is the way it is.. tarnishing the legacy.

Boulderdash's 30th anniversary should have been celebrated Sonic Mania style, with beautiful but better animated pixel art, maybe some guest appearances from other indie games.. and level sharing.

every time I've tried to listen to Idle Thumbs they'd start talking about a newly released game but at best only person had played it so they'd talk about random iPhone games instead

I really don't know, listened to maybe 1.5 episodes after she left. There were times when the only thing the other two played were a mobile game and the rest of the podcast was uninformed talk about gaming news.
Sounds maybe more harsh than it actually was, I still liked it.

I'm 50/50 on stopping because of time and stopping because it got really insular. But if it kept up the quality and variety of discussion they had, I'd find time to listen.

Can't exactly blame them. They went from covering games to making games. They play what they want in their free time. It just happens to be not very interesting material for a podcast, in my opinion. But it's their podcast and that's what they want to talk about.

Hmm, thanks for the opinions on Idle Thumbs guys. Maybe Ill DL one and check it out.
I overall liked them, but the uniformed opinions or no one playing games irked that stupid part of my brain sometimes.

I swear this is like watching a beloved family pet being led into the vet's office for the last time.

If only.

More like some old person keeping their half dead pet alive, suffering, only to pretend they're still in the good ol' days.

If you like Danielle and The Witcher 3, listen to Idle Weekend. I don't think they've gone more than one week without gushing over it.

Ah, damn. Thanks. Any substantial progress made?

I only have a very vague memory of SotN (played it back on PS1 and haven't really since unfortunately) but some of the big things they accomplished:

Life Upgrade from a red bird boss (phoenix?)
Performed Soul Steal

Most importantly:
Double Jump!
(they pretty much saved and quit after this)

Data West

coaches in the WNBA
Every time Mankind Divided adds a new character, they're worse than the last. It is incredible. I went from the pilot that instantly changes gears on a dime that doesn't want to do anything to the stereotypical russian man in the span of an hour

SEGA needs to be kind and put Sonic down, and hop on the Scourge train baby!

Breathe some new life in there.

Let me see if I remember my old sonic comics.

Scourge was actually an evil sonic from another dimension. He goes and gets corrupted/zapped by the Master Emerald and then steals Tails' robotic girlfriend from under his nose?

It's been a decade since I subscribed to the comic series.

Watching the latest VRodea and Rec Room seems like the ultimate in the "VR space where you socialise and fuck around and it's weird and janky but kinda cool" genre. All the shit you can mess with, the games, the stylised avatars and of course, Handibot. I don't care that Handibot is a real person pretending to be a robot helper, he needs to be logged in 24/7 and constantly in character.

Is this a terrible idea or would be a short Endurance Run of the Beast team playing a Pokemon game be awesome? Normally watching Pokemon is fairly dull, but their complete lack of any sort of knowledge could be consistently entertaining

Nah it'd be bad. I mean, they might be better than the Best Friends but their Nuzlock run of FR/LG was pretty bad. If it was edited down maybe. Like Griffin is doing a Nuzlock run on Polygon and it is pretty amazing but he's doing it solo, he's very silly and he's also editting the episodes so there isn't any down time grinding or just running around and he actually knows Pokémon decently well.

I mean, it could work. They seem to be making Shenmue work despite fumbling around and and being unfocussed but I dunno about Pokémon.
