I noticed he hit it partway through the Blade Wolf fight, but I wasn't sure if that was intentional. Given how Mistral went, I was sure it wasn't.

The auto-parrying is a separate option from the difficulty. Other things are easier too, like blade time lasting an eternity which lets Drew basically stay in ripper mode permanently later in the game.
SPOILERS, but here is a list of things that don't happen in the run:
-No alternate costumes, even after Dan freaks out about Grey Fox suit and they both laugh about Mariachi outfit
-After the first time they have access to it, the Codec is never used again

The best one is definitely Mistrals. (why are we spoilering sub weapons for a 6 year old game). I think out of all of them, it's the strongest guard breaker, the longest reach, and actually usable.

I think the Giant Machines quick look sorta broke me. Like.. I don't have a problem with Dan asking questions about random stuff but at the same time, I think 5 minutes of that quick look was just Vinny trying to teach Dan how to change a tire.

The huge range on the pole arm is also great for crowd control, especially for stuff like swarms of dwarf gecko. For bosses, it's only really useful in Mistral's own fight, but it's pretty powerful in normal combat.
Also you can plant the pole and swing around it like that fucking Matrix Reloaded bit, so
