I've played it, and it is shitty.

Its an open world game with plenty of side missions to do.Htown said:I do think that if you're gonna have two teams of Endurance Runners, they should be doing different games.
Unless the game design is sufficiently open to allow for substantially different playthroughs, at least. Does Deadly Premonition branch at all or are we just going to be watching the two teams doing the same things?
CabbageRed said:Nice! I wish more sites would pick up on this formula and crank ER's out at a V/J level of quality, as there are lots of games I'll never bother playing, but would love to watch MST3K style.
My god, those textures...
Papercuts said:It's weird, brad plays "better" here but at the same time he plays worse. He didn't think about ammo whatsoever considering it's a survival horror, he just got lucky that the game had infinite ammo. Vinny actually thought about it which ended up making it harder for him, lol.

Red Blaster said:Game *plays* like shit. Story's compelling but I seriously could not stomach how bad everything else was.
Which makes it immediately more compelling than almost 99% of the story-driven games this generation. Let's face it: there's virtually nothing in video game or computer game land that comes close to the passive mediums, such as television, stage, film, or traditional literature that value strong writing. Video games, though, cannot usually afford the time and volume of non-interactivity to dedicate to great writing if they want to be strong interactive experiences. Instead of trying to judge it against other games or other experiences that focus on storytelling, and just enjoying it for what it was, I thought it was great fun. I think a lot of people will miss out because they can't help but be repulsed, partly due to their expectations for better quality visuals and only the top 1% of execution in control and streamlined game design in anything they play. I view that as their loss. Really, the game part of DP isn't even close to being terrible once you get over it not being very polished and refined. Certainly, it helps to remember that it is a $20 title, too.FTWer said:As compelling as a Sci-fi channel originally made movie.
When it comes to the history of stories in gaming, that would mean it ranks pretty highly.FTWer said:As compelling as a Sci-fi channel originally made movie.
As I said, better than Heavy Rain.FTWer said:As compelling as a Sci-fi channel originally made movie.
sonicmj1 said:But unlike Vinny, Brad checked early on to see if the gun had infinite ammo, and when it did, he knew he didn't have to use the pipe for everything.
Vinny only "thought about it" in the sense that he assumed ammo was finite since he was playing a survival horror game.

Brad: "Oh... the controls are like...did you play any of the Playstation Resident Evil games?"
Ryan: "No."

firehawk12 said:It'd be nice if they could do P3P, but Vinny having finished P3 and just the jankiness of PSP recording kind of makes it almost impossible.
Shig said:Do you hold a position where a decent knowledge of gaming history is vital to the job?
(I'm not really saying playing RE1-3 is a must for the position or anything, but they were major enough games where it's definitely surprising when someone in that line of work hasn't played 'em at all.)
Curufinwe said:I don't know if Vinny ever finished P3. He seemed to have no idea thatthe school they visited on the class trip in P4 was Gekkoukan.
a) Not liking something should probably mean they played it in order to establish that opinion.firehawk12 said:Ryan and Jeff have both said they don't like RE in previous podcasts, which is why they were indifferent to RE5 as well.
chogidogs said:VJ had some pretty stressful moments during the P4 endurance run, but I think they we're able to keep it together since Vinny is such a nice guy.

Examining every single object before doing the action, especially since none of the text for observing is particularly entertaining, made me appreciate how BR gets from point to point so it can get to the cutscenes/QTEs which seem like the best part.
