GOG's #NoDRM Summer Sale [UP: Last day]

So far from GoG I've scored Fallout, Duke Nukem 3D, and Torchlight. All free.

Plus a whole bunch of free games just for signing up. I think the game I have the most playtime on is Tyrian 2000. I love that game.

Think they are gonna have single game dailies or only package deals?

I'd bet that each daily deal will be a "buy all of them to get 75-85% off" type thing, or 50% off otherwise.

But it's possible we'll see a few different types of promos.

I miss the days when I was only allowed to get a few games a year. My backlog is so huge now.

I used to mow my lawn and get 15$. I'd take it to KB Toys and pick out the game that looked most interesting. I'll never forget the day i bought Jupiter Strike. Oh lawd what a piece of shit. BUt some days I'd buy a classic and all was well.

Good thing I searched there are three threads about this being free and I was going to start a thread also. They also have both Alan Wakes for $4.48 if you missed the Humble Bundle, also BF3 is $5 on Origin until tomorrow.

Since I was ignored, time for the hard sell:

Duck warriors!

I have it on ipad but haven't got around to playing it yet. You're tempting me...

Was Painkiller Black supposed to be good? Also Crusader no Remorse and no Regret, anyone have a recommended control scheme, or is there any way to change the default?

...man I wish The Neverhood was on GOG.

Got the free Torchlight. I had it on Steam anyway, but who cares. Now let me check for other games..

PS. Is the Steam save transferrable to the GOG version?

KB Toys! I haven't thought about them in probably over a decade. They were my fallback source for games if Software Ect. didn't have something. They always seemed to be more expensive too.

Bought Miasmata on a whim, after hearing it talked about on Idle Thumbs and a few other places. GoG is an excellent service, well worth supporting as much as possible.

Bought the Alan Wake stuff yesterday, as well as Balls of Steel. BoS is as good as I remember it. Which means it's awesome.

Figure I might as well hold off on the other stuff I want to get to see if it's in the daily deals or something.

So how is The Witcher 2's gameplay? I played The Witcher 1 for a while, but couldn't finish it based on how bad the combat was. Battles seemed to rely too much on the potions you've prepared before the battle to buff you, rather than any worthwhile decision or strategy made during the battle (for example, with the different swords and stances, there was only one right option and the others that would get you killed quickly). Are things any different or better in the sequel?

Did anybody pick up Miasmata? I'm tempted but that's one of those games I foresee being in an indie bundle soon.

It looks interesting, though.

For everyone with a Rift, Strike Suit Zero is getting official support. This might be a good opportunity to pick it up.

It's one of the games I was waiting to be a daily deal, but I'm also not sure if it's worth pulling the trigger on. Any thoughts?

I have torchlight 2 do I need 1? I didn't know they GOG had Betrayal at Krondor and Antara. IMO the story telling in both games are great. Well worth the $3.

Torchlight 2 is superior to the first game in every way, but I grabbed a GOG copy anyway. Why not? You could just get it for the soundtrack too if you wanted.

I can't believe they're selling The Witcher 2 EE for less than £4. That's just stark raving bonkers.
GOG is fucking awesome.

I picked up System Shock 2. I've never played it, but $5 is a steal. Seems pretty good so far.
I'm being super cheap and hoping for a Looking Glass bundle. Would love to have the Thief games on GOG too. If that doesn't happen (probably won't) I'll just grab it separate near the end of the sale.

Getting Don't Starve and To The Moon. Having just played Antichamber and Mark of the Ninja made me realize I am not paying as much attention to indies as they deserve.

Time's up!

DAY 3

In the Daedalic Adventure All-stars bundle you will find six amazing adventure titles for only $26.19. This fantastic package you'll find A New Beginning, an amazing graphic novel-styled Sci-Fi adventure, in which the future of mankind is at stake, Chains of Satinav, a gorgeous trip through a gritty fantasy world where magic is scarce and hearts are cold, The Whispered World, a moving fairytale with beautiful storybook-like graphics, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout + Harvey's New Eyes, a set of two crazy stories full of cartoon insanity, and finally Deponia and Chaos on Deponia, both parts of Daedalic's flagship adventure saga full of fantastic humor and memorable characters.

What about the actual retro games?--you might ask. Fair question! Today, we offer you a giant bundle of nostalgic RPG goodness in the form of the Might and Magic Megapack that contains the all nine games from the classic colorful role-playing saga, with a cherry on top that is Crusaders of Might and Magic fantasy action game. All that for only $8.45!

I think the Daedalic bundle may actually be one in which I own *none* of the contents already. With me and GoG, that's... uncommon, to say the least.

Edit: In fact, I own all of them. There's something to be said for that level of ignorance of my obsessive collecting nature :-)
