Are there actually stocks in the game? If so i'm utterly impressed.

Yeah you can buy vehicles online using your in-game phone as well as surf the stocks and make stock purchases.

I wonder if they will overall increase like an actual stock market. In other words, if I diversify my portfolio with a bit of a ton of different stocks and sit on it for in-game weeks and even months, will my overall portfolio earn money? I don't think they have dividends, but I just mean the portfolio value.

Yeah. There's two markets.

From what I can tell one is affected by the player doing missions and stuff, and the other... Well I'm not entirely certain. I think it syncs online, so perhaps it functions properly with other players?

Yes there are two markets. LCN which is purely affected by ingame actions and events, and then BAWSAQ, which is affected by in-game actions and events, but also by metadata from all users. So if a lot of players start buying lots of ammo and guns at Ammu-nation the stock price will go way up, same goes for if they destroy a certain car companies cars more, that stock will go down. But so far it seemed borked to hell. BAWSAQ stocks are in the thousands range. It's highly unrealistic. And then manipulating LCN is really hard because its not easy figuring our where or how to affect various businesses to raise or crash their stock price.

Can anyone give me some pointers in flying helicopters? Been doing flight school and got my head around planes and am pretty good at them. But these god damn helicopters are the worse.

Can't even get bronze on the first one, I just can't keep my speed up with rising to high. Any help?

It's not just you, I was expressing my frustration at that this morning. I Gold ranked every flight mission up to the Helicopter and then I couldn't even get a fucking Bronze medal in that thing, so I gave up.

yeah i bumped into a dude with purple clothes and look him in the face for a few seconds and suddenly 15 people start to shoot me to death.

Well you bumped into a gang member in the hood from the sound of it. Makes sense that all the otther gang members in that area are gonna bust a cap in yo ass.

Bump into a person in a fancier part of town and at most you'd get into a fight with that person and a mate of theirs.

are medals tied to money earned or anything, or just a random stat to show off/encourage replay?

I don't even know what a bunch of these 'objectives' are asking for me to do :(

I bought the dock that gives you the submarine and the nuclear waste recovery mission. The fourth "waste" I had to track was unaccessible with the sub and you can't track it on foot. Oups.

I think IV is the only one I haven't played but I haven't liked a single entry. This one is just getting rave reviews all over the place and my buddy made the missions sound better. I think he said eventually the plot lines converge and you bounce between three characters for a heist mission. That really sounds up my alley and has me considering a purchase. I basically just wanted confirmation that the game isn't a bunch of repetitive escort missions and such, that there is true variety.
I don't think you'll be disappointed

You know, I'd be willing to take the realism hit of a taxi just spawning directly next to me when I call for one. Feels like it takes kind of forever for it to arrive.

Sorry if its been asked before, but what kind of missions will the online have? Will I be able to do a heist with my friends?

Yeah, you should google GTA Online trailer. It's worth a view to see what they're including in the online portion.

It isn't in the slightest bit difficult. Maybe with lock-on off it is.

They weren't even able to try to
abduct me
.

Just don't stop shooting.

I backed out of the car, and took a selfie. Sadly the photo came out like shit.

How do you get that suit?

That is super cool, even if it doesnt work as good as intended.

With the iOS app, what's the deal with the customisation thing? I have no idea what's happening. Are the vehicles mine already?

I bought Smoke on the Water, and received a couple of texts asking me for help from a worker. But when I go there, I don't have an option to interact with anything. What am I missing?

Is it just me, or was anyone else expecting to hear more of their original soundtrack while on foot? It's there during the missions, and it sounds great, but from all their pre-release talk, I was expecting at least RDR-style music that plays from time to time. I was hiking with Trevor last night, and then stole some guy's bycicle, but all I could hear were the ambient sounds. It'd be so much better if there was, at least occasional low key tune, or something dramatic while in the shootouts, or while running away from the cops.

Also, Rockstar's decision to limit Chop training to app that is only available to iOS users right now sucks so much. I guess it's useless, but if it exists, I want to try it out on my PC, or at least on some of the Android emulators on PC. And, while I'm mentioning Chop, gotta say that I'm looking forward to play/explore with him some more. So far, he seems useless, and I was expecting him to be a bigger part of the missions/exploration.

Random tips from the radio are slow.

Lester's missions are the big ones. He tells you everything you need to know.

The thing with Lester's missions is that sometimes the companies he mentions aren't listed on the stock market. I've done four assassinations and have only been able to play the stock market for two of them. Maybe they're on the BAWSAQ, but I haven't been able to access that yet.

Just hold R2/LT while pushing the left analog stick fully forward (or in the direction you want to turn). You shouldn't really be gaining any altitude while doing that.

Flying helecopters feels great once you're used to it, I'm just zipping around buildings and stuff now.

I tried to sign in to the iFruit app for the first time today, but it said "Failed to check App version".

Does that just mean the servers are overloaded? Or should I redownload it from iTunes?

You generate speed in choppers by pointing the nose down. The right trigger basically only controls your height.

So what you want to do once airborne is always keep the stick held forward (think of that as the accelerator), then tap the right trigger when you need lift while using L1 & R1 to handle most of the turning. Probably doing a shit job of explaining, but I think that's the gist of it.

The choppers are a bit more touchy than I'd like, but flying low over the city at night is fucking rad.

I wish R had done more with the phone. We really should have been able to listen to the radio while walking. And they could have done a few satirical mobile game clones like how they had arcade games in IV and SA

when u mod a gun with scopes and shit is that stuff permanent or do u have to rebuy it all the time?

also when busted do u lose your weapons? have only gotten wasted so far, the cops gun you down quite quickly.

I've also noticed that if you get out of a car while the radio is playing, the radio goes completely dead silent.

Am I crazy in remembering in previous games, that if you got out of a car while the radio was playing and you stood next to it, you could still faintly hear the radio playing out of the car?

Does anyone have any tips in regard to learning the map. I'm trying to just drive around and learn area block by block but it doesn't seem to be helping. I have GPS disabled and just find myself lost frequently.

I havent been busted yet in this game in all the previous games you lose your weapons when you get caught.

No you're not going crazy. In IV, if you got out without turning the car off, you'd hear the radio. And it would get louder or fainter depending on your location

I could hear the radio when I got out the car. But that was only on one occasion. Haven't heard it since.

I kid you not...I had no real desire to purchase this game until i heard this song is on it.

Gotta get it now.
Heard this song for the first time on Tuesday, as I'm sure many, many did.

Wonderful inclusion on the soundtrack, it stood out to me the first time it came on. Enough that I checked the radio dial real quick to see the song title, which I don't do very often.
