But GTA V is too good.

Street Races are Franklin only & they appear on the map pretty early on.

Is there anyway to wear a varsity/letterman jacket without having a long white T-shirt?
The short varsity jackets & long white T-shirt on Franklin's stocky body doesn't look right.
Every time I select a different color t-shirt & then select the jacket, it defaults to the long white t-shirt.

I'm at ~33% and I've done three races so far. You gotta complete them to unlock more.

thats part of the random encounters.
you'll see your mini map FLASH white and then a blue dot will appear.

I just aced the first street race last night. Grabbed a banshee and owned the pack fairly easily.

Wait...which one between BAWSAQ and LCN is the online one? I have a mission that would greatly affect one company's stock but that company is only on BAWSAQ. Isn't that the online one?

Yeah so turns out that you can switch characters when diving, and when you switch back your character who was diving has full health and breath. AND there just so happens to be a cash stash underwater worth 12k and it reappears every time you load the area and you can manage to park your character right on the spawn point and so you just have to switch back and for between characters and wrack up the $$$$$.
Right...so there's no point investing in there before doing the mission non?

These games are always big, dumb, and lacking subtlety. Two hours in and it's no exception.
Granted, I didn't expect to love it, but I was hoping to. It doesn't feel like much more than more of the same so far.
Also, I preordered the game digitally via PSN, and this makes me susceptible to the streaming bug. It's clearly evident in cutscenes and when you're driving fast.
It's still most likely a great game, and is so well made in many, many ways, but this is why I got fed up with all the "GAME OF THE YEAR/DECADE/GENERATION" quotes that came out prior to anyone actually playing it.

BAWSAQ is affected by both, online and personal in game events.
Ohhhhh great. Time to kill myself to cancel the mission and put all my money in there with all 3 characters lol.
BAWSAQ has got to be broken though. A lot of people have bought a shit ton of Hawk and Little stock for 1$ and it hasn't moved a cent in hours. Whatever the affect Social data has on BAWSAQ it's minimal and very unreliable. Same for in game actions outside of tips for both BAWSAQ and LCN.

The aiming dot should stay on the screen whenever you have a weapon equipped that way you can just hipfire without not knowing where the bullet will go. This can be optional though.

If you take the Senora FWY north from the city you'll run right into it on the right.
Compared to GTA IV, GTA V feels like a reboot of the franchise. The first ten missions in V have more variety and intelligent design than all of GTA IV combined. GTA V's sandbox is the best of all time at this point, main missions provide some of the best fun in the game.
I get the idea of being underwhelmed by GTA V, but saying its more of the same doesn't make sense. The prologue mission in GTA V would be a late game mission in IV, even then the mood and atmosphere in V trumps IV's mood and atmosphere.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing many races. You can't use Franklin's ability enough for it to matter when winning requires complete perfection, you can get screwed by oncoming traffic or random spin-outs, and you have to waste your precious time if it becomes impossible to win since you CAN'T RESTART MISSIONS IN THE MIDDLE OF THEM. Seriously, Rockstar, why? WHY?
How are people having problems with the races? I just did the one at the airport, crashed two times and still managed to win by quite a bit. Even with Franklin's default car it's really easy to win and that's without using his special ability (which I had completely forgotten about.)

You are most definitely right about that. They are returning to the tone and "give them everything" gameplay that San Andreas in particular had. I appreciate all they do, and like I said, it's a great game, but in terms of personal meaning, I feel that it lacks.
GTA IV TRIED to tell a meaningful story. The only time I feel like Rockstar has achieved this (and they achieved it in a big way for me) was Red Dead Redemption. Otherwise, give me TLOU for a 2013 game. That game actually tried to say something. This game is just a big action movie with lots of filler.
(That said... I'm still probably going to play through it. The story could always hook me by the end. But it's not starting off as much.)

IV was unreplayable even before 5 came out

you are using the ability for too long of spurts. i did the first 2 races and used it on every single 90deg corner and never came close to running out. you only need to use a tiny bit of it to take a corner. if you're engaging it for more than it takes to make the turn you are doing it wrong. unless the races get substantially longer than the first 2 you shouldn't come close to running out
