Gravity Rush |OT| C’est la Vita

Alright, alright. Should have worded it better. Not like protecting them in the traditional sense.

Escort missions in which I have to pick someone up with my Gravity powers and fly them across town or something. The whole thing is, take something like Assassins Creed 2, which had plenty of stuff to do around the world and, granted, the series eventually went overboad with all of that I still think that GR's world could use some more stuff to it.
But.... there ARE missions like that (story as well as side quests).

i preordered the game on amazon, based on the promise of getting bonus content. is the content already included? i opened the box and only found the game cart inside, no extra sheet with a code or anything. i just dove straight into the game and story mode and didn't really go looking for it. and each time i fire it up i just continue on.

it's an interesting game, but i'm not crazy about it. it's a b-game, and i'm totally fine with that. biggest thing i want is to be able to wrap around things. kinda like in mario galaxy, where walking over the edge changes the new gravity to the surface on the other side.

You should get an e-mail with the code.

Gravity works differently in this game and it really makes sense you can't walk around edges. But I had problems adjusting, too. After playing so much of Mario Galaxy, I was used to walking around everything.

Guys I need help here:

I want to be like all the cool kids and platinum this game. My unmovable object in the way? These fucking challenges. Any hints? I want to break my Vita.

For the races, master the slide or the gravity kick and use those to travel long distances.
For the combat challenges... make sure your gravity kick is at max level and pray. lol

Bought the DLC. Gonna check it out later.

But more side stuff involving that. Most of the trials are all about racing and combat and a lot of the later story missions again all boil down to combat. There could have been more interesting ways to do stuff with the city. I mean, Kat seems to be the city caretaker anyways so why not have more stuff with that?

With regards to restarting challenge missions, here's a tip: Just get yourself killed if you fail. Get a Game Over and choose continue.

Beats canceling the mission and restarting it with more load times

Yeah, falling into the lava seems to be the easiest way to restart.

Also, I have no idea how to do this Health race. Of course all the trophies are set up so that you want to do them all. lol

Holy crap, and as I say that, I got the gold. Damn, that's a rough race. Tip: use the gravity kick to get to as many way points as possible, master the slide race at the end. In fact, if you know you are going to fail, you should just turn around and practice it a few times.

Also, 4 bucks is really pricey for the DLC which is maybe half an hour to an hour of content for most players. The costume would be nice if you could replay story missions or had some other incentive to go around the world.

And strangely enough, I still haven't levelled up my reputation to be able to buy more skills. I have no idea what they're saving it for.

So how is the new DLC? I'll only be able to play it next wee.
I think it's only worth it if you love the racing and want a cute side story akin to the comics that Takao has been posting.

By the time I get it all, it's basically the same as getting a full XBLA/PSN game and you'll probably get more 'value' out of that if you want to make it a zero sum game.

I want the new DLC, but it seems too pricey for me.
If it really doesn't improve my reputation (I want to fully level up) or expand on the story in a meaningful way, I probably won't buy it. :/

I bought the Spy Pack because I wanted to support the game and will take literally any reason to keep playing.

It's cute, but really not worth 4 dollars. A NG+ where you keep unlocked costumes would be great, but as it stands having access at the end of the game is pointless. It would be really nice of them to allow you to use the costumes in Gravity Rush 2, or something.

Also this health race is RAGE inducing.

Nonoriri

If your name is Nonoriri you have to go buy Nanami's tampons.

It does. After completing the first mission I was able to max out the Gauge Usage to 12/12 anyway.

As far as I know, all DLC increases the maximum obtainable reputation by 2.

Do you have the military DLC as well? I went up a reputation level but still haven't been able to level up anything.

Huh? I was able to level Gravity Kick to maximum after finishing the military DLC. It only cost 2,500 gems!

I wish I had looked at Kat's title every time her reputation went up. Would be nice to have a complete list.

I only have the Spy DLC, since that's all that's available for sale at the moment. The max levels are still locked, and given that I have all the trophies available so far, there's nothing left for me to do.

I guess that means different DLC increases the max levels for different things. Unless you mean you can't afford the max levels?

After having finished the sidestories from both the spy and military DLC packs, I'm at reputation "Hekseville Guardian". I have not attempted the vast majority of challenges in the game. Here are the available levels:

Core Powers
Health: 11
Recovery Time: 11
Shifting Speed: 12 (MAX)
Guage Usage: 12 (MAX)

Combat Powers
Kick: 6 (MAX)
Gravity Kick: 6 (MAX)
Evade: 6 (MAX)
Sliding Kick: 6 (MAX)

Gravity Powers
Statis Field: 6 (MAX)
Gravity Slide: 6 (MAX)

Special Attacks
Spiraling Claw: 5
Gravity Typhoon: 5
Micro Black Hole: 5

Expecting the Maid pack to uncap the remaining five skills.

If that's really the example, the similarity would be more a function of Gunbuster and Gravity Rush's music both being composed by the same person. It'd be just as silly to say all anime music sounds like Babylon 5 because B5's composer did the music for one of the Tenchi Muyo movies.

Exactly.

Got the Spy pack. I did the first mission and both challenges. Got gold on the pitching and only bronze on the health one. Seems tough. Will try again tomorrow. Love the outift and the first mission was really funny.

holy crap at health race challenge. although once you got used to it, it give pretty high margin of error to get gold, but I can't even finish the race a couple first time.

Tiny plot question, definite spoiler.
Time speeds up the further you go up the pillar, and when Raven left the rest of the kids and went up, she aged right? So why when Kat returns to Hekesville after saving the kids has Cynaea not aged? Matter of fact, following Raven's example wouldn't all the kids be older?

Also, I don't have a clue what all the Dream stuff was about. Anyone care to give me a nice lil summary? I swear by the time we get to the third game this series will be the new Kingdom Hearts.

But yeah, absolutely loved the game, Japanese development not dead etc. Needs some more variety in combat and side quests for me and it would've been perfect, there's definite room for improvement. I loved the rift areas with it's mini challenges you could go back to later, I think Inferno was my favorite - great visuals, music etc.

Couple of favourite moments:
Free fallng down the centre of the pillar was freaking immense. Also loved the boss battle with Sea Wasp; just a huge anime clash, almost like an open-world Dissidia battle.

They don't age just because they traveled up the tower. Raven aged because she spent years in Hekseville trying to find a way to rescue the other kids. She also knew about the time dilation aspect somehow and thus never returned to visit the kids until Kat descended (as she perceived Kat to be a threat), as so much time in Hekseville would pass in her absence that her deals would probably fall through.

I think that analysis post on GameFAQs posted a few pages back is a good read on this stuff, though of course the games keep things ambiguous enough that any other theory is just as valid.

Here's a good analysis of the plot which makes sense. Do not read unless you beat the game.

Gravity Rush Platinum Club status achieved! I stayed up 'til 6:30AM to get it (and had to get up at 9AM). I thought I was "so close that it shouldn't take that long" when it was still 1:30AM, it ended up taking a while longer. lol
