So the game won't let me progress past the race photo puzzle.

When I hand over the betting stub to the guy in the window he just makes a joke about it being a counterfeit ticket and leaves. I even looked up a guide to make sure I had the right solution and I do. Tuesday week 2 race 6.

I've quit and reloaded the game and it still happens. Anyone else run into this?
There's another guy on the other side of the room.

My first platinum, and well worth it. Can't wait for DOTT remastered as well. :D

You're giving it to the wrong guy.

Edit: Beaten.

I love this game, but some of these puzzles are just... too much. Not in a hard way but just dumb.

The
forklift
puzzle really ruined my experience with act 2.

I kinda agree, and I sort of felt the same back in the day. The best parts are the characters/setting/dialogue and while the puzzles aren't bad per se, I feel they slow down the pacing a little too much.

A better inventory system would have helped. Cycling through items takes far too long, especially when you have a lot of them.

When I'm stuck on a puzzle, I try every item, so it gets pretty tedious.

Have two glitches I can't find fixes for:

Year 2 the propeller sounds won't stop after exiting the scene with them.

Had a save on PS4 and my Vita keeps crashing on loading it.

Does the PS4 and Vita Version Share trophies???

i just started on the vita version to get the trophies i missed and when i checked my ps4 to see what i had left i noticed none of the ones i missed and got on the vita had been unlocked on the ps4.

That was the one and only part that I *had* to look up back in the day.
I remember feeling so ashamed and annoyed with myself that I cheapened my progression. I didn't get over it until I finally completed the game and wanted more.

Now, I see all these posts about people having trouble with that bit (both logically and technically), and I feel a bit better haha.

Still, Grim is a wonderful experience and I'm so happy to be enjoying it again on my Vita. Bed time and lunch time will never be the same! I'm part-way through Year 2 and had forgotten how complex and intriguing Rubacava is. What a delight to explore with all these different characters and branching puzzles. The director's commentary is great addition, too. Love hearing them babble about this and that :)

Yes they share. All cross save games except Metal Gear do I think.

Anybody know where the PC keeps your save files? I wanted to copy my save over to my laptop as I'm going to be away from my desktop for about 2 weeks, but I can't find the save files anywhere. They don't seem to be in the installation directory, or the My Documents or Saved Games folders.

Well my save file is ruined and glitched out too.
In year 4 too :(

in the casino trying to rig Charlie's slot machine. The secret agent across from me just sunk into the floor and every since then I can't leave the room. So I'm stuck in here. And unfortunately I figured Id be screwed without that guy to finish the puzzle, so I had to look up one of the only two thjngs I looked up in this game. And sure enough, I need him.
Pretty upset but luckily I saved at year 3 and don't have to start all the way over.

After listening to the game with commentary on, then getting to the last piece of concept art, I was cracking up.
director's commentary is also great. Tim and his stories, :lol.

seems like he took a lot of ideas from (old) movies that he (and the team) watched.

Steam version?

It has cloud saving, it will sync it.

I don't know where the DRM-free keeps it. If it's like the classic version probably in the main installation folder of the game (program files etc)

I remember my PC was too fast for this puzzle, and I had to do it over 50 times (we were talking about milliseconds here). Back when dial-up was expensive and downloading game patches would cost almost my allowance.

also I remember there was something from act 3
the giant cylinders
that were crashing the game. You had to run fast, in those tank controls, to avoid crashing.

Gog.com version. I've looked in the installation directory and couldn't see anything. I even loaded up the game and created a new save, but the installation directory still had the same number of files. So either it saves somewhere else, or all the saves are kept in a single file that has a name giving no indication it's a save file.

check user>username>appdata>local and either for a gog, or double fine or grim folder

Anyone else think it's weird that this game didn't get a mobile release? The mouse controls work better than anything else for me. Maybe the screen would be too small because of the widescreen thing?

It seems like the perfect game to play when just killing time.

Sony has their fingers in this release. So I assume there is an exclusivity duration and we will see it on iOS and such in a year.

This exact glitch happened to me. I was lucky enough to have saved in the room prior. I also got super stuck on
picking up the ice grinder. Why the fuck would this one now be O instead of X??

I got the Platinum earlier, fantastic game. It's a shame that this thread is so quiet, I expected it to be a lot busier with more people to be honest.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
The game was fantastic but pretty buggy. :/

I don't recall the original PC version to be buggy, just... Inefficient.

Game complete, Platinum obtained. My first! I don't care too much for trophy hunting unless it's part of a game where I legitimately enjoy searching all the nooks and crannies, but this was worth a second pass to hear all the extra dialogue, especially the commentary tracks. I'm sure I'll get other platinums in the future (Persona 4 The Golden, I've got my NG+ playthrough started... I'm comin' for ya), but I'm glad this one was my first.

I didn't get the chance to play this when it first came out - I was nine years old in October 1998 and my only access to video games was an N64. My initial exposure to adventure games came too late - I played the Mac port of Escape to Monkey Island a year or two after its release. By the time I had a Windows computer and the means to support my gaming hobby, Grim was far in the rear view mirror. I assumed it was just a great game from before my time that I would respect from afar but never get to experience for myself. So thank you to everyone involved who made this remaster a reality!

My favorite moment from the entire game? Late Year 1 spoiler:
Glottis' reaction after you shove his heart back in his body.

Playing for the first time and I'm an hour into Year One... What a fantastic game. It's been a long time since I laughed out loud playing. Can't wait to see what's in store.

On my second trip to Rubacava I went to the Lighthouse to "pay my respects" just out of some role-playing urge... and I got an achievement for it. Really surprised me.

Finally beat the game. Some of the year 4 puzzles were just dumb but overall still the best adventure game I've ever played. Definitely going to go through again with commentary and go for a platinum. Wouldn't feel right without a platinum for this game.

sigh
anyone have the bug where you pull out the ticket printer but then hitting circle won't close it?

O doesn't close it. You need to move the finger to the top and print another ticket.

Anyone else unable to load their save on Vita via cross-save? I get a crash every time now. Year 2. Absolutely ridiculous.

It never worked for me once. I can't even delete the save on Vita to try again so I just gave up.

I'm kind of annoyed I've run into this bug that isn't fixing itself.

Manny doesn't actually run anymore, instead he stands in the neutral position and just "slides" across each of the maps. He even clips through certain things. There's no way to fix it as far as I can see and it's fucked me because I can't even get up the stairs and pretend to keep playing this way either.

I really don't want to have to start again :(

anyone know if this is fixable?

during year 3, "plot" question, how the hell
do you save Glottis and get a ship after that conveyor belt puzzle?
I might have skipped a cutscene of it without even knowing it but I just didn't get it.

HOW does Manny smoke underwater?
Game ruined.
seriously though, year 3 was pretty good overall.

You can see if you missed a cutscene by going into the "Cutscenes" menu and scrolling over to that part of the game.

If you finished and go the ship here's what happened
When you break th chain off the crane and drop it down the conveyor belt it goes down. Reverse the direction of the belt and it gets bundled up. Reverse again and it gets stuck on the hook. Reverse one more time and the crane pulls the ship off the edge of the world and back above the water.

I am stuck, but I refuse to look at a guide.

Is there anyway to figure out Manny's current motives? I sort of missed like a line of dialogue and I fucked myself up. No hint system is brutal, but I love and hate the obscure puzzles.
