Ornament collecting is something we can actually do with new players since 5 of the 6 ornaments can be gotten from starter zone JPs.

Trying to get a level 2 player to the furthest end of Cursed Shore for the last ornament would be interesting too, haha.

The Cryptarch's Bane
That's how I read it. It's a bit unfortunate for some time zones though.
Yeah- if you won't be able to make missions that night but still want to participate, you can mail it in advance. I just thought it would be fun to say "GO!" and have everyone "unwrap" their presents.

Leading a killy train tonight on our Borderlands!

I spend far too much time playing bell choir. Wish they'd add new songs. I've maxed out the repeating cheevo track twice. >..>

I played bell choir maybe 3 times total, last 2 wintersdays. I tried it yesterday and somehow I was really good at it and only stopped because I wanted to play something else but I was hitting those notes always. It was actually quite fun. I will probably go for that 500 point bell choir cheevo this time.

The Cryptarch's Bane
Okay nobody posted, have people been PMing appletoasty?

I'll update this post to have one compiled list

Secret Santa Signups
Hawkian - thehawkian@gmail.com
Kos Luftar - sent PM
Callunah -
Beast Brokenclaw -
Edge Techiron - sent PM

Sure, I'll do the Secret Santa thing.

Beast Brokenclaw - Miktar.4290
Callunah - pickles.1302 add me to your fabulously sparkly prezzie list please!

Can you guys PM me your emails? The script I'm using it requires it so I don't know who the pairings are :) If you're not comfortable doing that let me know and we can work something else out.

I'll start bugging people in-game about the exchange, hopefully we can get a lot of people in on this :D

I heard necros were for casuals.

Not at all, it's more like New Game+ where you're familiar with boons and evades and stuff but you can't rely on them anymore because you're meant to rely on class and panache to style your way through. If you can figure out a way to fling rainbows at enemies while wearing lovely leaves you're set.

Well, holy shit. (Video here)

Plain armor with no shiny or sparkly bits is still the best.

I'm inclined to agree, and that's how I've always approach my Guardian's armor (my warrior too, to a lesser degree). I would have loved to have seen the Phalanx armor released as a unisex set, but instead it looks more like a... combat leotard.

Still, the situation here is better than other games by a country mile since I can actually find armor for my female human Guardian that doesn't expose more skin than it protects. I guess GW2 just has a good range that just happens to include some... uh... less effective coverage options.

For reference, here's my Guardian;

Just needs a cape, dammit.

Done!

So apparently the new Winter PvP track reward allows you to get minis (like the princess, toy ventari) or also Ancient Mariner's Oilcloth Bag, which rewards an exotic breather. According to the wiki anyway.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ultimate_Wintersday_Gift

I've been working on it, but given the rest of the track is mostly ordinary wintersday gifts, not entirely sure I want to do it more than once. A finisher and the exotic breather are pretty nice though.

I was indeed. Fort Aspenwood is still my server, but I left NERF some time ago.

7pm EST, so it just happened.

EDIT: nm, you meant WvW reset, which is an hour later

Oooooh I remember you indeed then.:D You had gotten one of those new charr faces with the weird eyes, and I was like woah during one guild mission night.:p My engi is Grimm Steelclock, and I still maintain the guild missions in NERF.

Sounds like my sort of class. I might pick this game up in a stream sale.

Maybe.

That Mai fight was a blast. Certainly made up for snow (imo)

Can someone point me in the direction of secret santa entry stuff?

Basically all you need to know is, the limit for gifts is 250 gems or its equivalent in gold. The cut-off for entering is tomorrow, Saturday, December 20th at 11pm EST. I'll most likely be doing the matching on Sunday morning, and you'll receive an email with your recipient :D The gift exchange will be the following week at the end of guild missions (Saturday, December 27 around 10-11 PM EST, depending on when we start). If you're not able to attend guild missions that day you can send your gift in advance.

If you'd like to enter, send me a PM either in game (appletoasty.7062) or here on the forums with your account name and your email. If you're not comfortable giving out your email for any reason let me know and we can sort something out :)

Believe it or not, tonight's actual fractal run was only 1 hour and 2 minutes long.

So only about 5 minutes longer than last night.

The problem is we did basically all of Aquatic Ruins before starting over, and then we did almost all of Swampland twice.

If Snowblind hadn't been complete bullshit, we could have easily made it in less than 50 minutes.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
I find the map I get tired of the fastest is Bloodtide Coast. It's a pretty enough zone (I know Hawkian in particular likes it) and I love all of the sea life and such, but it feels like all of the content in the zone is either quaggan-related or pirate-related, with a nasty layer of Risen sandwiched between.

I don't care much for Sparkfly either, and those two maps are generally the last ones I'll do. I put off doing Harathi Hinterlands too, but I find that once I start that zone I generally finish it much faster than I remember, so at least it's over quickly (I also like Harathi's humans vs. centaur meta in theory, though it is too cyclic for my tastes).

Kessex never bothers me, mostly because of the variety in the enemies (as Kos mentioned) and the landscape. It's nice and forested on the west side, mountainous on the east, with the lakes breaking up the map nicely. There's the little swampy parts in the SW and NE corners and lots of little towns and such scattered around.

The zones that tend to have one theme (Bloodtide, Sparkfly, the Shiverpeak zones) tend to be the least interesting to me, while those that have a diversity of terrain types (Mount Maelstrom, the Ascalon zones) are at the top of my list. I'm hoping when we do get more 'classic' style zones (instead of the meta-focused zones like Drytop and the Silverwastes) that they push that kind of diversity.

Oh, now that you did remind me of Bloodtide Coast... yeah it is far more boring than Kessex.

So I've made it 50% through the reward track and I was able to choose to receive a random tonic recipe. I wouldn't have even begun if I'd known my princess doll tonic wasn't guaranteed; fortunately it dropped from a gift along the way. I guess I'll continue until I earn the aquabreather; BiS healing shouts may not be denied, even underwater.

Unfortunately I don't have an artificer to craft the recipe (or condense my luck or help make Mawdrey). Perhaps it's about time to make another character...

Snow maps are the worst maps.

Ranja's pretty fun in PvP. Gotta Bearbow.
I can confirm that spirit ranger is still viable.

Countering bearbows is still problematic however. You can't reflect because they open with the knockback, so they eat that in the face and it prevents them from rapid-firing themselves. And you can't attrition more than three rotations of it i.e. 30 seconds. Only response seems to be rushdown, Captain Falcon-style.

How do you run spirit ranger anyway?

Missle block works fine though. Took down bearbows using d/d cele with ring of earth and interrupts.

I don't think it's a lot more complicated than traiting for vigorous, moving, boon-upon-death giving spirits and slotting 3 or 4 of them.

I've been running the front line ish ranger I used to use for wvw. It does use longbow but I don't sit in that for much time at all.

And when you guys say bear bow ranger, are pvp rangers really using bears?
