I personally think it is a bit of a flaw of the game that only one armor set is used predominantly. But I know many people will disagree with that so whatever.

Heh, not nearly as many as you'd think...

Now that I look more closely I see the utility cooldowns are all 45 seconds with no cooldown reduction trait option. That's not exactly synergistic with trapper runes; those of ranger are much shorter.

The fact that all of their CDs are the same suggests they're just placeholders. They'll probably address the cooldowns last one they have an idea how powerful each trap actually is.

So umm.. that Mystery Cave mission is fucking stupid. Seriously.

No NPCs to help (until 25% health at least based on what the gw2 wiki says), bomb things that can appear right on the divine fire, adds that can reset parts of phase 2 and can only be killed while under the effects of divine fire which you need to regain. 3 phases that take for-fucking-ever, lag making dodging a nightmare (especially when you only get 2 dodges), etc.

Literally the only thing I'm glad about is that I'm not melee, I imagine it'd be even more annoying then.

Also this game reminds me how much I hate rubber banding.

Yeah i didn't care much for that fight either. I almost always do the achievements by myself, but for that one I found a lfg group of five just so I could knock it out in one go and not have to worry about it again.

*fistbumps*

One of the more frustrating ones for me. I understood the concept easily enough, but I think my coordination/timing is just off sometimes. I think the worst part of encounters like that is if you're solo and get downed, there's almost no way to recover and get back in the fight without dying and running back in.

Hah, just did that fight yesterday morning before work. I died a couple times and had to jump back in but it was alright. Luckily I had a longbow equipped for the burn phase on the boss. It was frustrating but it was more being pressed for time since I started the mission an hour before work. I probably did better because I was like, "fuck I don't want to re-do this whole thing hurry up!"

Biggest problem with the fight is how the hitbox is above your character. My Guardian couldnt hit the dragon with the GS, I had to use me scepter autoattack (Smite wouldnt land a single hit according to my combat log) which made it pretty slow, so apologizes for Apple and Dark for taking so long.

Mystery cave seems to be their attempt at a multiple mechanic endurance fight, which a lot of hardcore MMO players love. So no surprise us casuals don't like it :p

Time to buy up all the mini Logans.

I don't mind those types of fights. Just not in this lol.

Honestly, it felt like a 5 party fight. With a full party, I cleared it np. (though it still felt like a long-ish fight but not as long as solo/duoing it)

Also I'm kinda hyped for HoT now. The end cutscenes/trailer did it for me lol.

My gold revenue is finally back on track after last week's screwup. Almost made me quit the game for a while (missed my dailies one day even). But assuming my current items sell, I should reach around 400g for the first time ^^

It feels good when you hit that.

You guys talk a lot about conditions, but I am more worried about CC. People haven't been talking about Taunt for months, and if there is going to be introduced new CC, I'm scared.

Crowd Control is one of the useful things, but it quickly makes PvP games not fun. Fortunately it's not bad at all currenty in GW2 because CCs currently are short, and you get so many breakers and escape cards.
I would like to see a Rune set, were the sixth rune, lets you break a CC effect by dodging out of it. That would be cool.

Contrarily, I'd like to see more control options. Make them expensive (high CD or some other limiting factor), but I can't help but feel that too much of PvP is about burning people down rather than controlling them. Knock backs are good, but that's about the only CC I think is strong in the majority of PvP. Especially given the objective focus, I would appreciate some increases to crowd control abilities.
Give mesmers blackout, please.

Re: Conditions... I really hope Confusion is better in the expac. I miss my glamour build not being a joke :(

Unique mechanics and environmental hazards are absent from the majority of dungeon bosses and effectively nonexistent for World Bosses, so it's nice to be pressured in new ways. The Mystery Cave instance was still pretty easy, so surely no one would liken it to any type of "hardcore" challenge, would they?

It kind of surprises me how few GAF members are willing to champion fights like Shadow of the Dragon or Togonn Windmane. Fights that require more than stacking against a wall. Instead we talk about them being "fucking stupid."

Yay! I'm glad you finally managed to sell it.

The context of my post is the achievements for the fight. The fight is ok, nothing overly hard, but the achievements can be considerably difficult. Furthermore, the fight has mechanics that purposely try to make it last as long as possible (like how the hitbox is ridiculous on melee weapons, or the vines withdrawing from time to time), so I can understand complains aimed at that.

Speaking of boss fights, mentioned this earlier but my favourite story instances and boss fights in Season 2 which I wouldn't mind seeing in HoT is Hidden Arcana.

It was really fun taking down the facets in different ways and then combining what you've learned in the final fight of the instance.

Seriously quite fun.

That's a good instance of giving players a lot to do without being overwhelming. Shadow of the Dragon is the bad case, where there is too much shit to do on top of all the movement stuff.

I don't like losing control of my character. It completely killed WoW PvP for me.

But I think there is a difference between CC. There is a different between being KD'd for 2 seconds, and then being rooted by a druid for 12 seconds while 3 people hack away your health.

There is a difference between being feared for 10 seconds, and then being crippled for 5 (where you still have your movement of your character and still can attack). I just don't think you should lose completely control of your character, and I am interested in seeing what will happen with Revernant getting taunt.

Maybe Warrior will get some sort of taunt ability as well?

Is this the fight in The Grove? If so, that was the most trouble I've had with the game. Felt like endless cheap deaths. I just gave up and lost all my armor.

It's cool. It was fun playing dead. If it was me attempting what you did, I would have died probably in the first 3 minutes lol.

Both the grove and the mystery cave ones are annoying. The former because it felt very cheap. (I wish we had more than 2 dodges before you run out of energy ;_:) and the latter because it went so long and if you messed up even once in phase 2, it would reset some of your progress and make it take even LONGER. Also loads of aoe and no npcs to help rez. Felt like a 5 party instance with a 1 - 2-man instance being 'hard mode' version of it lol.

Also on the first fight, yeah I lost all my armour there as well.

Only other boss fight I didn't like was that one in the desert where we had to save
The Master of Peace I believe? Getting knocked off and then killed by tendrils annoyed the hell out of me. Though I did like the aspect crystal stuff. That part was fun.

All other boss fights I had no big issue with even when i died several times. (though there was a small glitch with one boss. I got there first with my only other party member being left behind. Due to this, whenever we had to restart at check point, she would start back where the npcs were fighting trash a bit aways while I started just outside the boss area. It was weird)

Excellent Missions, as always, despite the Karka Rush.

Makeup Missions are tomorrow at 3pm Eastern / Noon Pacific.

Should get a teaser image for the next Elite Specialization on Monday, with a full preview on Thursday and a livestream on Friday.

So after Zeroth, Apple, Ryuu, and Tyliout helped me kill the Eye of Zhaitan, we made an impromptu trip around the Straits of Devastation, having adventures and exploring anything that looked interesting.

After killing the champion at the Chapel of Lady Glaive, we met an Asuran Golemancer at the Monastery of Tughra who sold us laser guns.

We swam around in the Straight of Malediction for a bit before heading to do "The Long Way Around" puzzle.

We killed the megaladon afterwards, and after a long...dance break, we'll call it...we saved a quaggan from a rather nasty drake broodmother, and bought some tonics.

After making Zeroth face his fears, we fought Apple's dog's dad, and climbed to the vantage point above. Here, the last quaggan was taught to fly.

We then decided to stand around and be cool for a while.

We climbed The Vizier's Tower to finish the night off and finally made for our separate ways.

Few of my favorites in 4K:

Ike I've been rethinking our Terrior build. Check out what kind of synergy you can make with a 66060 build.

First we have multiple sources of cripple with which to proc Leg Specialist. But with Arms, immobilizing also grants fury (via a major trait) and fury boosts condi damage (via an adept trait). The Arms line also grants bleeds and more condi damage on crits as well as other goodies.

Obviously this build would have to move away from apothecary to have sufficient precision. Given there is still a decent amount of direct damage... Celestial?

Of course you would have no access to stability. Then again stability isn't what it once was.

I wonder if there could be any kind of optimal mix of Sinister and Magi. Celestial would probably still end up with a better stat spread, but I don't really know the numbers.

im trying to get back into action. first i started changing my megami getup. ( changed it because well, we're going to a very hot place now. )

maybe im showing too much skin? well, it feels very refreshing, and that was my goal. im just not so sure if she is still very dignified.

What concerns me the most right now is the idea that people who pick an elite specialization will be stronger in PvP and WvW than someone who choose to remain in their base profession. I think it is really important that people can remain competitive by still choosing to remain a Mesmer or a Ranger or a Guardian.

But what are you giving off by going Chronomancer? You get another F skill, you can still use all the weapons. Unless you got some crazy synergy build that has no points for Chronomancer tree, will people choose to remain Mesmers?
You can even be a Chronomancer and not invest in the tree? I think that would be weird. I think your class should only change to a elite specialization if you're actually picking a elite spec as one of your three specs.

The other reason for this is that it was a cornerstone of GW1 that ArenaNet did not try to shoehorn people into buying the expansions to GW1. If the new professions, gear and skills were more powerful, players would feel forced to buy the expansion. Instead the horizontal levelling was kept in place to make sure that it stayed true to the Magic The Gathering form of balance. Having more choice (like an elite spec) is an advantage) but it's not more powerful. having more choice doesn't mean you're dressing for the right ocassion if you pick the wrong build, gear, skills and so on.
Both DragonHunter and Chrono look really powerful. I know some people will not do it simply because of personal reasons, but I really hope that power-wise, people won't feel disadvantaged by staying in their base profession.
