Weaver actually makes elementalist kind of fun to play. About time I bring that character out of retirement.
Also, that feel when you finally identify an exotic out of one of those rare unidentified weapons things, only for it to be one of the few weapons that no collection calls for.
I really like Staff Weaver. It's basically "You know how the three skill is always the least useful thing on staff? Now it hits like a truck."
Can anyone say what the worst elite specializations of this expansion are? Still having a tough time deciding and I hear a lot of rants about the Mirage being very clunky and in a bad place right now
Thanks
That's going to depend on what you're doing. Just from my perspective:
Scourge: You really feel like a cultist, corrupting large swaths of land and everything in it. Absurdly powerful in PvP.
Weaver: Sword feels weak and is confirmed to be getting updated in the future. But Power Staff weaver feels excellent. I just love Staff Ele though. Staff tempest was one of my favorite builds during the HoT era and this is basically the sequel to that.
Firebrand: Great damage and solid support. It's a bit clunky to use the F2 and F3 skills compared to core guardian and Dragonhunter as you basically have to stop what you're doing for an extended period of time to cast the charges, whereas Dragon Hunter can just pop it's big shield and keep dpsing at the same time. But when you're setting things on fire it's pretty fantastic.
Spelbreaker: Like HoT's Scapper, Spellbreaker is basically a pure sPvP spec and oh boy does it do it well. It is absurdly overpowered in PvP. Straight up god tier along side Scourge, and imo more overpowered than Scourge. That said, in any sort of group pve play it is extremely lackluster. It works great for open world and soloing and Magebane Teather+Phalanx Strength can pulse out ridiculous levels of might. But by and large, the PvE side of the game just does not reward the Spellbreaker's mix of mediocre damage and absurdly high sustainability. You can solo champs like a champ though. I'm curious to see if some of the more difficult fractals can be solo'd with it. If we were just going by how fun they are in PvE this would be bottom of the list.
Holosmith: From the Demo I thought this would be my favorite. It ended up being just alright. Sword feels off and undertuned. Laser Disk and Hyper Light Beam.
Mirage: Mirage was damn near unplayable in the demo but buffs and tweaks have really improved it. It has some problems, it's damage is still undertuned for PvE, Mirage Cloak feels akward as it makes evading away from your target a huge pain. Deception skills are all reeeaally boring and weak in PvE. But ultimately axe feels good. It's very straightforward to play. Thematically I like everything about it. It's just in execution I find it underwhelming.
Renegade: It's a direct upgrade to condi rev and quite good. Shortbow feels weak as a weapon but Mace/Axe feels good. I've never liked revenants in general though.
Deadeye: I didn't like Deadeye as much as I thought I would. I love the idea of a sniper. But in PvE it feels like you're just waiting for Malice to hit max so you can use Death's Judgement to see some ridiculous crits. It's a lot of waiting and feels very passive. Like how Scapper and Spellbreaker feel built for Spvp, Deadeye feels built for WvW. Playing it in the demo it felt amazing and trollish when you could just mark a guy, and eventually one shot them from stealth.
I have not tried Soulbeast. At all.
