Halo 4 |OT| Spartans Never Die

We got the Crimson Map Pack trailer about 2 weeks before the release of the pack, Majestic is being released on the 25th so if that pattern holds true we should see a trailer around the 11th. That being a Monday my guess is they might hold it off until the coming weeks bulletin on the 13th or so.

Aside from the concept art they are keeping it pretty close to the chest.
Was it just 2 weeks prior? I wasn't sure if the 25th was truly confirmed either, so good to know.
That's me.

Comments Frankie? 11th? 13th? ;)

Well start some positive dialogue then. Its been a handful of people posting for a couple of months and granted it was mainly bitching and complaining but then people who dont really say shit drop by post and say they're tired of all the bitching but wont engage in anything worth while.

Good things
-Doubles Pro
-Doubles CTF
-Grifball
-Team Throwdown
-Quinn and Bravo
-SpOps is almost better

Bad things
-Still no TU news
-Still no ranks
-Infinity CTF
-No balance fixes
-Good playlists disappear in the silence of the night
-No consolidation of playlists with multiple gametypes even after Community Forge Test's success

I would never have named it Team Throwdown.

It's the same reason the people who made Pac Man didn't name it Puck Man.

If Team Throwdown is bad... People will start calling it Team Throwup.

They should just call it team slayer because thats what it is. What happend to Halo? I wouldn't mind having a infinity game type or playlist. The way they inject this infinity shit into every game type is ridiculous. Team slayer should be the main game type like it always has been. Leave the stupid infinity idea in one playlist and if people want to play that stupid shit they can. Don't force it into the entire game.

I guess Team Hardcore is still copyright by Bungie.

Hopefully all the effort not put into the name is put to a better use in the actual playlist.

Im pretty sure once a 'pro' playlist comes out the game will at least feel more stable. I'd really like if they allowed all the weapons and AA's for loadouts just to keep the diversity in the gameplay though. The one thing that worried me about the inevitable MLG playlist is the same thing that kind of irked me with slayer pro. What was the point of the entire loadout system and all the different weapons if the choices will just get sterilized. I personally would love a playlist with no personal ordinance, fixed global ordinance, no radar a spawn timer and everything else staying as is providing they tweaked a few things.

Minolta, what is your opinion on flinch versus descoping?

I would rather descoping than flinch. Flinch was a good idea but I find it makes sniping/long range DMRing easier. It throws you off but not enough, and I think too much flinch would just be annoying. Yes, if you got descoped you could usually pull the trigger and still pull off the shot, but not always. I am not a pro sniper at all, but I barely notice the flinch and get off way more kills because of it.

If I was being descoped I would probably miss more, it would nerf all long range combat a certain amount and I am alright with that, it can get a little out of control at times on maps like complex.

It isn't Team Slayer. It will have Slayer, CTF, KOTH, and Extraction.

Throwdown is not a very good name, though.

Team Throwdown just sounds like they are trying to make it really cool. [shameless plug] I made fun of it in my latest video. [/shameless plug]

There is no shame here, this is GAF. <3

But...

WOW HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT DESCOPING IS BETTER THAN FLINCHING JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT CASUALS... Oh.

Wait.

No.

I agree with you...

Awkward.

EDIT: It's ironic that the "easiest" fix to balance the DMR, which is overpowered in the eyes of many people, is to introduce a mechanic that's been a staple of the Halo franchise up until this point; getting knocked out of scope. This would limit the use of the "long range DMR dominance" and give the other rifles their fair shake at taking out a wall peeking DMR user. You'd probably end up seeing the osmosis of LR and Carbine use.

Agreed, I would love to see a return of descoping, that would help to balance long range encounters immensely.

That still leaves you with broken loadouts...Boltshot, Camo, Jetpack, Stickies. I think most other people would agree with your other suggestions, myself included.

In an ideal world for me, Boltshot, Camo, Jetpack, Stickies are all map pick ups and can never be started with in the game. Camo to me is the most ridiculous out of the bunch, and I had similar feelings with Reach...seriously what asshole at Bungie managed to convince an entire Dev team that an item that was once a POWER UP should be a thing players can start with and then 343i failed to address it.

Well yea thats the stuff i was implying should get tweaked. Obviously everyone has biases when it comes to how weapons should be balanced but i think everyone agrees that there should at least be a balance update.

Tried to give War Games another chance. I go into Doubles, Infinity Doubles for all three options, enemy uses boltshot constantly...

That's fine, I'll just do Slayer.

Go into Infinity Slayer, 2/4ths of the enemy team uses Boltshot with Camo.

Yep..I'm done with this game, faster than I was with Halo Reach too, at least that game had interesting stuff.

So I tried Doubles last night and it was a lot of fun. My only gripe is that Abandon and Haven are always the left-most option and they get picked every damn time. God forbid we play a new map that's tailored for Doubles, right? Lets just play the same maps we've been playing since the game came out. Bungie screwed up first in Reach by making the top choice always win when it's a tie, Halo 4 does the same with the left most option. Is it difficult to make it choose randomly between the options that tie?

The new maps have unbelievably bad framerate issues on splitscreen, so 343 maps are on the left to ensure splitscreen players can have a good experience. I like it. Obviously it'd be better if Forge maps could just have good framerates but that's not gonna happen.

Random choice between ties is just as arbitrary as letting the topmost win the tie.

Topmost/leftmost makes the most sense as you can plan your choice percentages around it and the game starts loading the top option first. If everything is a tie, the map will be ready to go in a moment. If you random-winner, it might have to start over with a different map.

WAT? How the heck is it arbitrary? The main reason it's an issue is that people will vote the same damn thing over and over and over again so at least if it's random, there would be a chance at variety. I literally could not play a single match on Meltdown because people spam vote for Ragnarok and Exile. It took gathering a bunch of friends to seize the voting power to finally try it out AFTER the map pack came out (I started at launch). That's unacceptable. What's crappy is this lesson should have been learned from Reach with maps like Sword Base being chosen 90 percent of the time for some play lists. It'd be fantastic if 343 could address this going forward.

You address that by lowering the weight of Ragnarok and taking it out of the top slot. If the choice is random, then there's no control over this.
