Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
"a Firefight map unlike any you’ve ever seen before. One thing I can tell you is that this one is particularly appropriate to Halo: Combat Evolved but will do things that no Firefight map has done. "

yup, sounds like flood

I am very excited for this since CE is still my favorite entry in the franchise.

Though I enjoyed many of the encounters in Halo 3 more.

I think the old game looks better. Better colors.

So I'm still confused about the MP. From the podcast, it sounds like:

If you're playing Halo: Anniversary, you can choose multiplayer, but you'll only get the 7 remastered CE Maps in the Reach Engine.

If you're playing Reach, you can download those 7 CE maps and play the everything in one go.

If you're listened to the podcast, is that accurate?

And on the subject of audio – everything has been remastered – sound effects beefed up and remixed, but more importantly, we took Marty O’Donnell’s industry-changing soundtrack and gave it some deep, smoove loving, with a re-orchestration and brand new recording with the Skywalker Orchestra. So the perfect melodies, the movements and the themes are intact, but just glowingly more rich and lavish (and expensive).

Aaaaaaah what are you doing to my beautiful Halo 1 soundtrack!? You better not have touched my precious Under Cover of Night you bastards!!!

God, the fact that you can switch any time is so fucking killer.
I was so cynical about this game, I just knew they were going drop armor abilities and destructible vehicles into it.

I honestly couldn't be more excited, its going to be real actual Halo1. That music cue when you drive up the hill with the sun beyond the hill in the second level is still gonna be there.

Listening to the 343 podcast, I really believe that these guys just GET it. I have strong faith in the future of this franchise.

Since audio has been brought up. Are we going to hear all the classic Halo 1 Marines?

If I don't get my Chips Dubbo, I might cry a little.

The new Competitive MP maps will appear in a range of matchmaking options, but we also intend to do "classic" stuff with the matchmaking to approximate the original feel of the maps.
So you're including Halo 1 multiplayer, then?

That sounds awesome. I'm anxious to see what it is. I figured it would be that scene when you first land on Halo and you get to the structure right before the first warthog.

ah....... memories.

a glimpse of another old fan favorite from Halo CE, and one map that while famous and awesome, has never been seen on console before. I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now.

I feel like a bad Halo fan. :( I have no idea which map he's talking about, someone care to refresh my memory? :)

I officially don't give a fuck about this game anymore with the announcement of no multiplayer. This infuriated me even more when they said the game is running on the exact same engine as Halo 1. WHY NOT do it then?

Oh yeah, because then people would stop playing the multiplayer in garbage ass Halo 3 and Halo Reach. And wouldn't ever touch Halo 4.

Halo 1's multiplayer is sublime.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I am listening to the Sparkast and everything is just so perfect. I was always happy you became the franchise director Frankie, you and the team get it, everything is there. I can't wait for Halo Fest.

Yeah, it's pretty damn pathetic. Bungie doesn't think that the pistol is balanced so they are taking their ball and going home. Too bad they are a terrible of judge of balance considering they actually think that Reach was balanced at launch.

Bungie really got lucky with Halo Ce's balance by mistake it seems. Every Halo launch since has had such obvious balance flaws that the fan base has to bitch about for months to get patched.

Because fixing CE netcode takes more work that just vomiting out more map packs and collecting their money, presumably.

This is by far the best effort/reward ratio for them - uprez and retexture the CE campaign, maybe dump in some Reach assets you already have if you're bored at 2PM on a Friday, then just pump out some extra maps using the same tools you have been for years. No heavy lifting or serious problem-solving, maximum profit. It's understandable, but that doesn't make it less sleazy.

One of the nicest updates they've made is that when you hit the Back button to switch to improved mode all the Flood disappear.

Except this isn't Bungie making this. They have no decision in whether multiplayer is added or not. Granted, no one on this board wants to call out Bungie for their bullshit as I, but this isn't their call. And not bringing in multiplayer is a great idea. Just add a bunch of maps to Reach and expand upon it. 343i is doing it right.

Tell us what the map around 1:17 is, we don't understand. You're making me feel dumb by saying we'd have guessed it by now. :(

Bwahaha, oh god.

The pistol is not balanced in Halo 1. I know Halo 1 Luddites love that weapon, but it's the most overpowered weapon in any Halo game. Effectively negates every other weapon in multiplayer aside from the other power weapons.

Try again.

And you and everyone else spawn with it. Equal footing.

I'll rearrange your words a bit. Yes, the pistol can negate every other weapon when used effectively. That's why its balanced, and it didn't stop people from picking up and using other guns. It kept the game grounded.

I know Bungie isn't making this game but it is former employees pulling the strings.

They definitely need to turn on some saturation filters for the remake. It's too muted and bland.
Really? If anything I thought it was almost too colorful, that gif doesn't really represent it well.

That's not even a good comparison.
It illustrates my point. When you start every player with an overpowered weapon, that is the only weapon they need to use. And that's boring.

Pistol starts in Halo 1 MP were boring as hell after a few games, everyone getting three shotted from anywhere on the map. Pop, pop pop, reload. Yawn.

Just listened to the podcast.

I can't say I agree with their reasons for not including multiplayer. The fact is, this is the anniversary edition of Halo. People who have been fans of Halo for over 10 years want to celebrate it, and enjoying at least some semblance of that original MP experience is the way to do it.

The negative comments about the pistol in MP kind of sealed my impressions of this project as well. Why they keep hating on a memorable (and beloved by a lot of people) part of multiplayer is beyond me. I've hated that "we know better" attitude ever since Halo 2, and they still maintain it to this day.

If I sound bitter, it's cause I am. As a Halo fan since 2001, I can't help not to be.

I'm excited for the campaign. My first thought upon completing Reach, was "Damn. Now I hope they remake Halo 1." My hopes have been answered.

As opposed to starting with a crappy AR while anyone with a BR was mowing you down. Add in stupid plasma swords (should have never moved away from the story that only elites could wield these things and they would auto-destruct), spartan lasers, *#@$ NEEDLERS %@$#, and vehicles that would do 14 barrel roles and not eject the driver or the gunner (the gunner!). Yeah, that was great.

But then, I'm describing 3. Despite that, I still mostly like it. Well, on like 3 maps. I never played Reach online.

I loved that level so much. I remember finding the downed Pelican and listening to what they were saying, EVERY singly time I played that mission.
