Its an artificial ring world created by the Forerunners. The older halo installations had artificial sunlight that lights and dims from the Halo's atmosphere to create an artificial illusion of day and night. Installation 07 or Zeta Halo is the only surviving installation from the original array, its diameter was reduced to 10,000 km like the newer arrays from 30,000 km after most of its superstructure was discarded due to heavy damage. The "sunlight" is artificial and the wildlife and forest was artificially seeded. The sun never sets on Zeta Halo.
Night time is not dark enough.

Sunlight in Alpha Halo directly came from the sun in Soell system as it orbited the gas giant Threshold.Cool story. Night time in the first Halo looks much better.

Ok first of all, someone needs to say it, your kind of being a dick. Secondly, they made a ring world with lighting thats accurate according to its position in the system. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s bad.Ring with natural sun -> proper night time
Ring with no natural sun -> constant day time
?
Listen, these are bullshit lore reasons. It's all made up. Nothing is stopping 343 from making a proper, dark and atmospheric night time and just saying "listen kids, this is how Forerunners designed the ring".
I can guarantee more people will complain about this. There's so much potential for diverse gameplay with proper night time that's basically wasted here.
That said, game looks beautiful. I'm playing MP right now and I'm blown away by attention to details, texturing work and atmospheric effects. Gorgeous game that will age pretty well due to smart design decisions.

At any rate, you’re the only person complaining about this, so have fun being alone on that hill I guess.
Listen, calm down and relax. Take a breather. There's no need for name calling. You're the only person here that's negative.
You can like something and still criticize parts of it. It's called having an opinion.
I'm the only person complaining about this? Oh, wait... what's this? One of the most popular online personalities in Halo space? How can it be?

cool story, but your opinion is shit and no one cares.
Makes sense when you consider it’s a ring and not a planet. From a gameplay perspective it also makes sense. Halo is not about sneaking around in the dark. The sun never sets on Zeta Halo.
Night time is not dark enough. Funny enough Forza Horizon 5 has the same problem.

I was in theatre mode the other night watching a film and then pausing it looking for for nice sreenshots etc. I noticed some things that have been exactly the same in all theatre modes on previous games. For example, muzzle flashes will disappear when you get close with the cameraHalo Infinite has the Slipspace Engine according to Google, i wonder if DLSS will be supported?
I just wanted to point out that the sunlight is artificial. This is from Halo Primordium (2012). This artificial sunlight not having a proper night like Halo CE may be either due to 343i didn't try or their is some lore reason I don't know of. But I thought people should be aware that this is artificial.Ring with natural sun -> proper night time
Ring with no natural sun -> constant day time

cormack12Kind of off topic but this thing is a Luminoth from Metroid Prime 2.
Thought that was kinda funny. Hope the Campaign is good. It seems promising I just hope the open world nature of it doesn’t make it too repetitive.
Earlier forza horizon games got too dark at night. Im sure this was done to make is more accessible. The sun never sets on Zeta Halo.

Game looks really nice and detailed.
A halo can’t be total dark, because it’s not a sphere ..Earlier forza horizon games got too dark at night. Im sure this was done to make is more accessible.
I call that a win!
There are supposed to be different biomes on the ring. so far they haven't showed anything but the first section of the game.after seeing MCC having a snow themed warthog on the menu screen for a while it made me was a heavy snow halo level....any snow areas confirmed?
I’m expecting a desert and snow section. One of the mp maps is in the desert so the assets are there at least. There are supposed to be different biomes on the ring. so far they haven't showed anything but the first section of the game.
Sounds like he is sticking around on the Halo team as well. Good news.man this guy is so likeable. very interesting, insightful interview

They sent copies to reviewers( ACG, skill up etc) and halo content creators. Who did you expect them to send them to? World of Warcraft players?I will not be suprised if this turns out to be a pretty average experience for a campaign...
It seems like very specific types of people have been targeted with early copies. I guess I'm getting tired or the hype machine especially post cyberpunk.
However I will take that over what 343 has offered prior to this, which in general was pretty appualing.

Edit: both skill ups and ACG preview( the only 2 I've watched) highlights some concerns as well as good stuff, I don't see why your being negative.
Not following you here, you original post seemed to imply you were being cautious due to MS only sending out preview copies to specific people to garner overly positive hype, not saying this doesn't happen and fair enough, but the likes of ACG and Skill up amongst others I find to be very objective. Seem like a broad spectrum of the press/creators have been included in the previews and that's a positive in my book. I don't think they are hiding anything, guess we'll find out soon enough.Mainly a gmanlives kinda guy, and I'm tapering my expectations because the multiplayer release while having solid gunplay (although some wwapons in an already limited sandbox are useless) highlighted a fair few issues and 343's running track record of game released.
This is like asking why I would not be feeling particularly pumped for the new call of duty after a bunch of hype videos... its called "being here before"
