There's a Gears campaign level like that, I was personally not a fan
Well, the problem in that mission was that the Oliphant wasn't player controlled and didn't have gun turrets.
These issues could be solved and make it a fun mission.

We are going to see such a level like Gears 2. If you watch the Halo 4 Prelude trailer again(the cinema trailer), you can see how much "playable" area the Mammoth has. The Chief will fight on it. Or it looks like it.
For reals. Its nice to see some nice different looking rock (that we've already seen). Can't wait to checkout that place myself.
I remember that:
(1) i wasn't a fan either, gameplay-wise (on higher difficulties)
(2) it was a big-ass battle, felt just like that and hence made me wish Reach had had something like that.

The minimum is zero
With some clever desing, it wouldn't be on-rails mission as such. At least no more than normal Halo missions are.

I assume i write it so because "ng" is common in Finnish (usually in plural, such as kenkä-kengät (shoe-shoes)) but "gn" is practically non-existent.
Oddly, i can write "magnetism" without that mistake... It is one of those Finnish words with "gn".

An escort mission was bad? I, for one, am shocked.
Please keep the Mammoth out of multiplayer. Elephants made Sandtrap CTF a disaster.
Check your PMs
The on-rails can be avoided.
Make the Mammoth drivable or at least something the player can command (somehow, details can wait) to move or stop at will without being the driver.
Guns for driver too (especially if SPOPS).
Mission with alternative routes, open areas, maybe it is just a small cargo that needs to be driven to "goal".

BTB CTF on Sandtrap was amazing. Always something crazy going on.
it was Gears 2. the beginning of the attack on the locust hive, trying to plant that big ass bomb.
and the "flying enemies" were the annoying part - fighting infantry on the ground, as well as the boarding parties was okay. but those damn "flying enemies" (what was the name of those units again?)...
so, you're finnished with that typo now?

What do i get with 6.00 posts per day (and rising)?
I need something else than just NeoGAF.
