The original search was very demanding on the server, even limited to mods/admins made the server have a guru meditate.

I can't remember exactly, it was back in 07 before I even had an account.

Also Urk was suicidal: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8058428&postcount=441

Seems more people are concerned about the review numbers than the games themselves, then they turn around and say "lol games journalism" and "reviews don't matter."
lol they don't for me... I really don't understand reviews anymore anyway. I cared about that shit about 6 or 7 years ago. I'd get mad if EGM scored a game low. I haven't read any review for a game in a while. It's just someones opinion.. mine is the only one that matters. Those threads are really funny though....:/

If I had to guess, I would say its Bungie Company policy to stop posting when they are developing something or going "dark". Just like they are doing right now with their next game.

"Radio Silence" in a sense.

Agreed with this, i cant think of a time a review has ever swayed my decision i stay away from them at most costs to avoid spoilers anyway. I like some truly awful games and hate some highly praised ones some people might have the exact same taste as the legion of paid/bribed/threatened reviewers however i dont.

Its a good assumption, makes sense. That or just too busy. Unlike a certain bearded Franchise Development Director we all know and love who sits around lurking gaf 24/7

Speaking off, his trivia section of Halo Nation (the wiki) is awesome
  1. Frankie was usually the only player on Bungie's team wearing full Recon Armor in their Humpday games. <- i can haz
  2. He appeared in a special episode of This Spartan Life. <- guest star 4 lyf
  3. His weapon of choice is the Covenant Carbine. <- Halo 3 beta explained
  4. He was the arch enemy of Martin O'Donnell. <- Duel to the death
  5. O'Connor was a co-author of Halo: Evolutions - Essential Tales of the Halo Universe, providing the introduction and the short story "Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian." <- good show
  6. He has a daughter who, as of February 2011, is two years old. <- awww whats her name?

No and she says she isn't getting one either. She's focused on Waypoint.

Lol.. silly Bungie guys.

Why is NeoGAF so awful when it comes to banning people?
Stricter policies mean people behave better on average, that's not to say that good people don't fall through the cracks.

Every time I have been banned it was either deserved, or via a strict blanket interpretation of the TOU. However, one time I was banned for racism, and the mod ERRED after interpreting the word 'black' to mean people, rather than, as I typed it, paint color. The thing that really got to me however was that he refused to believe that's what I meant. Insisting I was a racist. As I have stated thousands of times, the only people I am racist against are true gingers.

So, all of this book talk... having never read any of the books before, and having scoped the advice given in this thread... Start with Ghosts of Onyx, then Grasslands, with Cryptum as a stand-alone work after re-reading the H3 Terminals. Right? Don't need to worry about any of the other books if I want to do this on the cheap?

I'm sure the others are alright, but it sounds like Ghosts and Grasslands are the cream of the crop, and I'm in such a mood that I'd probably pick Ghosts up in paperback tomorrow for the hell of it, but only if it's the recommended starting place.

I basically stopped reading them after Onyx, but I'd say Contact Harvest is definitely worth the read. It covers old information at this point, but it's got great characterization and is the best look at Covenant politics and culture we've had, in the same vein as Halo 2 was. So if you dug Halo 2's story, Contact Harvest is a must.

Sure there's a lot of unfair bans, and tons of crap that is allowed because it pleases certain agendas, but there's no denying that the strict policies and ban-happy mods have helped this forum become way more tolerable than others.

So still reading and I have to say.

I really like the Halsey stuff but also the way the Engineers like Requires Adjustment really get examined. They really seem like some very cool creatures.

UNSC Infinity.
Active SPARTAN-FOURs on board.
Warship.
Packed to hell and back with Forerunner tech.
(Safe to assume it has energy shielding, what about possible plasma or energy weapons?)
Can make Forerunner-accurate slipspace calculations and jumps.
Possible Engineer presence on board.
Spaceship porn.

Holy nerdgasam, Batman.

Well. If that doesn't give us some ideas about Halo 4 then I don't know what will. I have to say as I read more I really am glad I got the book. While not a big fan of her writing style it really is a great book. Also assuming that does kind of hint to things to come with Halo 4, I am interested.

Now back to reading. I'm only 54 percent through. lol

Sure looks like it eh? I guess I work on finally reading Ghosts of Onyx so I can get it..

Without a doubt. I'd for sure get Ghosts of Onyx and read it first if you haven't. I've stopped at Chapter 11 tonight but without a doubt can't recommend the book enough. I've been reading since 9AM minus 3 hours for bike riding and swimming and it's 11:30PM here now.

343 weren't kidding when they said everything is trying to be tied together now. I think it really makes for a better book.

Did I read right earlier. Don't feel like going back but this is the first part in a trilogy from her too? If so consider the other 2 bought for sure.

Yep, first of a trilogy.

And we still have books two and three of the Forerunner trilogy coming too.

Where am I going to find the time to read this "Gaming Thrones" book I just bought? You know, that one in the Icy Hot Song series. ;)

This is in the future huh? (Future as in, way after Halo 3?) That sounds pretty cool

I thought 343 folks said Halo 4 isn't all that much later. Frankie said Halo 4 takes place an "important", but not necessarily long, time after Halo 3. So, I'm assuming that's true for Glasslands, too, unless the book leaps ahead to a different timeline.

Glasslands spoilers

Judging by the fact that the memorial service from the end of Halo 3 is about to take place in the book I would say 343 weren't lying.

Actually at the end
they say Chief and Cortana have been missing for 5 months

I see a lot of HaloGAF playing BF3. Impressions?
Great great game, all problems from the beta have been fixed and it just plays extremely well.

If you like Battlefield in anyways I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm definitely going to pick up Onyx tomorrow (I like Halsey's story and want to see where it goes), I'll see if Contact Harvest is cheap and maybe grab 'em both. Definitely waiting until Grassland goes paperback though, or maybe sneak it on my Nook.

See I haven't made it there yet. I've only gotten to chapter 12.
Up to this point there was only the conversation about them having the memorial service. and the mention of two them having been missing for a couple months. So I could certainly see 5 months having passed by the time the book ends.

Now I really do have to quit reading at CH 12. It's now 1am here. Time for bed. lol

Do you think any of the mods would ever ban someone from the Industry?

I mean other thank Frankie... I bet he really runs the show around here o.o.... but that makes no sense because if he did Ellis would be banned :p
I think the mods have the mentality: "Fuck if I care if you're in the industry, you will be banned for being an asshole. Deal with it.''

Rightfully so.

On another note: nobody making a Glassland OT?

I've had Ghosts of Onyx for a few years now. I suppose I'll start it for the 3rd time tomorrow. Glad the new book is good. I can't wait to read it as well as Primordium.

Can we get a FF/MM grind weekly next time? I hate LASO. Shit is so nerd.

Also how do you kill 15 elite drop pods? I killed the elites that came from them but it doesnt seem like you can kill the actual drop pods...? Counter isn't going up.

Yup. XBL, b.net and strangely HBO, are all offline. Playing BF3?

Second space battle in Long Night of Solace. Pick one of the Rally points (Bravo, i think). They drop from the bottom of the Corvette in groups of 4.

I dont see why good Halo players have to suffer while they fix up bad kid battlefield. I'm trying to cleanse the covenant here.
