It appears that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is selling like hot cakes. According to the Steam Charts, this collection has sold more than two million copies in just two days.

Of course this number includes all the pre-orders for this collection so this should not really surprise us. Still, it clearly shows the high PC demand for this particular franchise. And, to be honest, we are pretty sure that Microsoft is delighted with these figures.

According to the charts, the game also had an all-time player peak of 161,024. Furthermore, the collection has Very Positive Reviews on Steam.

Halo: Reach is the first part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection that is currently available on Steam. While the game looks dated, it runs extremely well on the PC platform. We've already published our PC Performance Analysis article so be sure to read it.

Halo is dead, it will flop on PC, PC users dont want Halo, the MCC wont sell at all unless its like $10 for everything, etc, etc, etc.
I remember when the Steam listing first appeared, its community hub was flooded with threads requesting that users be required to play with a gamepad, else it's not the true Halo experience lmao

Didn't someone on here say it wouldn't even sell a million?
I dont know if it was a million or if they said less than that but yeah someone said it. They, or someone else, also said it wouldnt hit 20k players oline lol.

Also that is just for the MCC itself, i dont know if it includes Reach itself which you can buy seperate, and is currently no.3 on the Global top sellers.

Who said that?

I don't remember, I just remember seeing it, it might not have been a million but it was something similar.

I remember seeing that as well. Guess they're in for a surprise.

According to rumors MS transform Xbox from console to service. They will still release consoles for sake of convinience and market it as such but for all intent and purposes they are making it as a service across whole plehora of devices.

This is why they recently released beta update to Win10 which seems to give access to native Xbox games.
This is why there are rumors that they will release Xbox streaming app for mobiles.
This is why there are strong rumors about them releasing similar app for Nintendo Switch.
This is why they splurge shitload of money buying everyone left and right across whole spectrum of fields.

It stops being opinion when you have facts.

And we do have plenty of examples mate on PC.

Gears 3
Gears 4
Halo 1

None of which make any dent in PC gaming. I mean if they were amazing games then surely PC players would find them amazing too no ? Well that didn't happen. Hell you can even go to pirate sites and count up how many people pirated those games compared to other and you will see how many people didn't care about those.

On other hand Forza Horizon 3 and 4 seems to be widely loved in PC gaming community so it is not like PC gamers hate MS games.

Good for you. But you are minority here. I would rather for MS to focus on new games that have potential rather than old games that barely make anyone now rise their brows.
Good example of that is mentioned Forza Horizon.

I would rather see 343 to do their own new game instead of following Halo which clearly even makers of it didn't consider Halo anymore what people want to play.

Same with Turtle rock. Why are they doing exactly Gears ? Cover based shooters are thing of the past clearly and it is not like Gears gameplay was remarkable in first place. Great thing about gears co-op play is now pretty much standard across the board for those kind of games.

What MS needs is new bold games that move them forward rather than dwelling on past successes hoping that lightning can struck twice.

Can you imagine if Naugty Dog would never create The Last of Us ?
Lol

When can the good Halo games show up?

This is super weird because gamepass ultimate is 1 euro for 3 months.
But its also super cheap on steam.
And no local coop :(

Well now, that definitely should help fund the projected $500 million dollar budget for Halo Infinite.

Halo currently is not even in top500 most played games. I could only find reach with grand total of...

...4 people playing currently it with max peak 3k people.

Looks like 2mln is fake. They probably send bilion of free keys and counted downloads from Gamepass because for sure you can't see shit in SteamCharts.

And before someone will pop up saying "Reach doesn't matter". Reach is also currently in top5 global sales for Steam.

Nobody ever claimed Halo couldn't move millions of units, its just the days of moving 10-20m units is probably over - not that there is anything wrong with that. I would probably double dip on Halo CE/2 if they ever came to my platform of choice, not sure about any future titles though. The issue with MS is they were selling (overselling) Halo as the king of their IPs and basically very few IPs and Halo was/is slowly declining over the last decade or so.

The issue with Halo isn't that its a horrible IP, its that its way oversold.

Reach has the best campaign though.
I have no problems with any Halo campaign it's the multiplayer I have issues with. Just give me 1,2,3 again and I'll be happy.

Nice.

I'm jumping in as soon as they release Halo 3.... hopefully that's sooner rather than later

Over selling? There was one mainline halo game this gen...

I don't know how DSOG went to say it sold more than 2m copies when Steam Spy estimates the sales to be between 1m and 2m tops.

To be honest based on the number of reviews the numbers should be a little past 1 million copies. Still, an impressive feat.

2 million is probably the highest estimated being ultra optimistic.
Said that 1 million in one week is already an amazing feat.

BTW TMCC has the best Halo games... the issue with actual Halo franchise is the lack of quality with Halo 4 and 5 that tuned out in low sales for the franchise (more 5 than 4).

Haven't touched Halo multiplayer since Halo 4. Playing Reach multiplayer again especially with mouse and keyboard has been such a refresher.
There haven't been too many online FPS shooters that caught my attention lately.

I bet Sony are looking at those sales with a drooling mouth. How much would God of War, Spiderman etc sell on PC? It must be tempting for them.

MCC is probably the greatest compalation in gaming history. The work that was put into it is unprecedented. Its biggest fault was trying to do too much. Had they just released with each game having its own game Lobby people would have been fine with it

Could this be modded in?
possibly. at the very least, the team is aware: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/...ma/b88fd709-525d-422a-81d4-a4ec6349f0c3/posts

Q. Will there be local splitscreen multiplayer/campaign?
A. This one is tricky and the team is still looking at what can be supported.

notably, crossplay is on their mind too.
Q. Will Crossplay be available for MCC on PC?
A. PC players will be able to play together regardless of which store they choose to purchase from. In terms of Xbox One to PC crossplay, it's not something we're currently committing to at launch but it is top of mind and the team is actively investigating this.

Overselling a depreciating IP over the last decade, basically the focus of Xbox.

Games
- Halo Wars (2009)
- Halo3 ODST (2009)
- Halo Reach (2010)
- Halo CE Anniversary (2011)
- Halo 4 (2012)
- Halo Spartan Assault (2013)
- Halo MCC (2014)
- Halo Spartan Strike (2015)
- Halo 5 (2015)
- Halo Wars 2 (2017)
- Halo Fireteam Raven - Arcade Game (2017)
- Halo MCC for PC (2019)
- Halo Infinite (scheduled for 2020)

Books, about dozen or so that I can see plus comics.

TV
- Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn (2012)
- Halo Nightfall (2014)
- New series for 2021

Nobody said Halo wouldn't sell some, its just a depreciating asset that they have over mined. I would be shocked if anyone was shocked that some of the early games didn't sell a few million units at a reduced low price on Steam... duhh.

Thats not entirely true. If i recall halo 4 sold around 9.5m which puts it as third best selling halo just behind halo 3 and reach.

3 was an absolute juggernaut though and arguably not just the best halo but one of the best games of last gen.

Great. Enjoyed my time with it so far, already finished the campaign on legendary solo and had a blast with my best buddy. So glad they're on PC.

What's Halo Guardians released in 2015?

Goddamn... and even while being available on Game Pass. What a beast.

One of the reasons for the decrease in sales for Halo 5 was Halo 4.

It deserve it.

For all the shit we give Microsoft, Halo is a fantastic game. It's up there with Half-life 2 as genre defining.

Playing Halo:Ce again, makes me wonder how, 18 years later, FPS games are still not up to the level of Halo.

Considering halo is the poster child of xbox it only makes sense that it's seen this level of attention. Hell without halo, xbox likely wouldnt have had the momentum to make it to the 360.

to me its like being mad that nintendo churns out 2-3 mario games every year.
One of the reasons for the decrease in sales for Halo 5 was Halo 4.
Ok, totally has nothing to do with the xbox one's shit sales, the complete butchering of MCC a year beforehand and the complete mismanagement of marketing.
