As much as I understand the point you are trying to make, the ViDoc is normally done by a different team. Like a Production or Marketing team. It's not like we can expect those folks to code! :p
Still distracting and takes time out of the developers and designers days to appear in the videos, multiple takes, be shadowed by cameras, etc. Skip it unless you know you're 100% on-schedule, which it's clear this project never was.

I just wish my single player achievements would unlock. I'm afraid to start playing through the campaign unless I know for sure they won't be stuck in limbo somewhere forever.

It's only the popup which is delayed and choked on xbox live, the task itself should still record.

I will never understand why this happens when it never did on a 360, why does xbox live choke for achievements? why does a ping to the servers to validate an achievement even matter?

I haven't played much Halo since Halo 2 and decided to jump back in with the MCC. I got an Xbox One for $200 on craigslist back in March that'd been sitting in a box waiting for this.

The MCC is a complete and utter mess. One of the worst online multiplayer launches ever. Matching-making is completely broken. When you do get into a match, the team are often not balanced in terms of players. The netcode and/or servers are garbage. Oh and map voting is terrible in any game. Map voting results in some awesome maps and game modes never being played or even tried because the masses prefer meat grinder type game-modes and maps. Map voting is a perfect example of how much democracy can suck.

Since control schemes have moved on since the early Halo games, and I play other games that use ADS I set up my control for hold zoom instead of toggle and toggle crouch instead of hold crouch. Well, hold zoom is completely broken. It likes to unsnap the zoom for no good reason, or not zoom when you want it to. Toggle crouch is also broken. It doesn't respond when you need it to.

Microsoft cheaped out on the Xbox One's design, then desperately creates the Master Chief Collection to boost sales and releases a completely broken turd.

Halo's gameplay is also showing its age. Halo was never revolutionary to begin with. It was merely many console gamers' first introduction to competitive fps multiplayer. It did nothing new that Quake, Tribes, or Unreal Tournament had previously done. And unlike Call of Duty which evolved over time, Halo's multiplayer forumula is still the same as ever. Floaty, slow, few weapons. The exact opposite of what made so many arena shooters so good.

Im pretty disappointed with this launch, glad I still have to beat SO in the meantime. Even when I do get in a match its always 3v3 or 3v2. Couple of coworkers and I got some awesome custom games rolling though last night.

Ugh what?

I played like this last night no problems in Halo 3, 2 and 4.

If you crouch you won't show on the motion radar so they cannot see if you're waiting in a area. It's very easy to get the drop on people using this method and I know I'm not the only one that plays like this. Saying there is no skill with the AR is funny considering that the BR is probably the most OP weapon in the games and the easiest weapon to get kills with.

Am I the only one who vastly prefers the original Halo 2 MP to this Anniversary MP? Maybe it's that the aesthetic and audio remind me too much of Halo 4, but there's just something so enticing about the old visuals and GOAT Steitzer. I really enjoy how clean and crisp the maps are in the first 3 Halo games. The anniversary maps, as the H4 maps just seem.. overly detailed? They just seem so very busy. Are my complaints legitimate?

Got this Halo MP itch I just canna scratch.

I'm going to set up some BTB objective customs at 7pm GMT time. If you're interested, my tag is also RamBoleyn. Bring friends! (If you can.)

I feel you. Maybe it's the nostalgia...

The elegance in the AR is how you approach situations rather than the actual shooting. You never want to end up in a shooting gallery with the AR or you're going to die every time. You need to crouch and use your radar heavily to gain the advantage on enemies by coming up behind them. I can usually take out a person before they know what is going on and two people in a engagement. I will definitely camp for short periods waiting for the right moment to jump people but fighting one on one with a BR is never going to work.

...oh, my.

Hah,

Well fine, you say screw them and you might as well say screw the rest of the industry that follows the same practices too.(but I highly doubt your purchases will reflect this.)

There is no reason to pretend this is a normal game by any means. It has 13 different game engines(audio, physics & graphical) for two of the games it runs 3-4 game engines at a time. The multiplayer allows you to jump from one game to another without a hiccup and they've added features on top of games that were never meant to have them.

If this game isn't something you want to support than by all means return the game until it matches a level that you find acceptable but that isn't stopping others, like myself, from already enjoying it.

No one is saying that it excuses anything but it also shouldn't be ignored. The point of the amount of content argument is that this is a insanely packed game with pretty much way too much going on at once.

Content isn't the issue they rushed it out for profit. The game should have been delayed. Their focus was to up x1 sales, it wasn't to deliver a quality finished game.

The hour long ViDoc they released is just embarrassing now. All that talk and hype about how great it all is, and this is what we get. They had time to make that documentary, but clearly not enough time to make the game...

Actually the documentary doesn't really talk about recreating multiplayer using Azure.

Thanks. Yeah, we both tried that and it didn't seem to want to cooperate. He just stayed in the multiplayer lobby while I stayed in the campaign lobby. His game was still installing at the time though. Maybe that had something to do with it.

It does, I couldn't co-op until it was 100% done.

You're the 1% lol i'm f'n jealous... you seem to have awesome luck with the MP and SP! Gimmie yo' Xbox!

It still is not perfect as 60% of the matches are uneven teams, albeit by one player.

"Halo 2 revolutionized games with the first party system! It's like a virtual couch!"

- parties don't stay together after MM games
- teams get split up
- most matches are uneven teams or even more players than the playlist supports
- can't tell if someone has joined your party until 30 seconds after they connect
- Here's a situation I had last night: Me and 5 friends were playing customs with me as the party leader. One friend lags out and can't rejoin because NO JOIN IN PROGRESS ON CUSTOMS. Anyway, after the match is over the game automatically sends my party to his and with him as the new party leader

Is it possible to sue 343 for blatant false advertising?
This launch really makes me realize how amazing it was that the Halo 2 launch was so smooth back when Xbox Live was only 2 years into its lifespan - and it had never seen a population as large as it did when Halo 2 launched. I can't remember but I want to say that Halo 2 MP had over 5 times the concurrent population as any Xbox Live title previous to it. And everything worked on day 1. I played hours of matchmaking with 7 other buds, never had a single drop.

That's pretty shocking. 12 years into the service we shouldn't be having problems like this. Especially when you're porting a game that had such a smooth launch.

The BR has a skill gap though. It's more powerful than the ar but that doesn't mean it's op. You need to aim and strafe a lot more to win a br battle.

Idk I just fine automatic weapons a chore to use. headshots will always be satisfying

Didn't I just acknowledge this and say this myself?

Using BR starts isn't scrub mentality?

I've been playing like this since the first Halo, I'm definitely not a scrub and I'm regularly at the top of the leaderboard or the best player in the match.

It is funny watching people that only want to use the BR call others scrubs.

This lag is killing me. I'm hitting players with the sniper and I know I'm landing shots because I can see their armor spark when I fire. I've emptied 4 sniper rounds in kids and they shrug it off.

Dem dedicated servers.

Let's back up a minute - did you just claim that BR starts for scrubs? I don't even know where to start.

Also, being "at the top of the leaderboard" in matchmaking games with randoms is probably the single worst indicator of skill you could've possibly used as an example.

Hahaha...it's PR man. I get what you're trying to say but in the overall scope of attempting to launch a product of this size it's kind of ridiculous.

Bungies mentality was that Battle Rifles were too powerful to be a starting weapon. I think there's a degree of truth to that, but they failed to create a quality alternative.

Something with a large rate of fire that's hit-scan and capable of killing at range so long as you could manage recoil would have been adequate, but they failed numerous times at creating such a weapon.

As a result BR start is really the only way to play.

I dunno, I guess it's the attitude. It all seemed rather self-congratulatory, and the state of this game's launch is most certainly not worth of any sort of congratulations.

I didn't get Xbox Live till a few months after Halo 3 was released. So that means from Halo 1-early Halo 3 days it was all split screen, system link, and campaign. Love the campaign but after doing everything I could think of (all difficulties, glitches, skulls, speed runs, easter eggs) it has made me less enthused about it, compared to multiplayer. Multi was always the staying power for me.

Lag is ridiculous right now. You can clearly see who the host of the match is, since he's almost impossible to kill.

Dedicated servers were the biggest feature for me, it's frustrating to be stuck with P2P.

I'm not saying that there isn't a skill gap for the BR but it lends itself greatly to those they just want to jump into a firefight. The BR isn't hard by any means to use and has a definite advantage over most other weapons in the game. If you can call someone a scrub for using the motion radar and AR you can definitely call someone a scrub for using a BR.

It's not like I played one match and said "I R the greatest", this is from years of playing these games. It's a play style that works for me and usually works really well.

I love the AR :|

There are dozens of us!

Wow.... this thread

Is ANYONE actually JUST playing the single player!? :/

That's all I've been doing. Last time I played Halo 1 & 2, was shortly after their original releases; and I never played 3 & 4. (never had a 360)

I'm having a nostalgic good time with 1 & 2, and look forward to experiencing 3 & 4 for the first time!

It has a lot to do with the original plan for the One. everything is stored online, from pins to achievments. The 360 kept most everything local.

This is weird. I haven't experienced any problems except Halo 3 Coop. Been buttery smooth for me. If only I could consistently find matches with friends.

That's how I view it. As I was going through Halo 2 campaign last night.....I actually felt somewhat bored. >_>
Don't hurt me! (._. )

Do we know what happened on that front? Why is it P2P currently?
