People are fickle these days and competition is fierce in the shooter department. Halo also lost some pull over the years. I hope I'm wrong, but I'd rather take a cynical approach and not be disappointed later. Trust me there is nothing I want more than to play Halo 2 all day.

YEah, I will call into suspect anyone that says that they waited years for Halo 2/Halo CE, and now that they have it they are returning the game in 2 days knowing that eventually is going to be fixed, Im not talking about you, but just a general observation regarding returning this game after just 3 days of release

OMFG this is classic. After 56 minutes, I finally found a game...

anyone know what patches or updates are coming for this?

Supposedly a content update today for some campaign issues, which they said they'll post patch notes.

Matchmaking is "on going fixes server side" or something. So. Zero ETA.

Yes 343 has been communicating with the community. But they are giving no timelines right now. Which is what i think people really want.

I dont think thats unreasonable either. "Hey, when is the 60 dollar game I bought tuesday going to work? Cause its not longer tuesday."

And what's your threshold for being able to "play the campaign"? If it ran at 25fps? 20fps? 10? I mean technically you could still play it! The only way I can play H1 is in classic mode because the anniversary mode runs like complete poop.

I have not played splitscreen, but for solo play this is wildly inaccurate. Aside from some weird behavior when driving a Warthog (which oddly does not manifest itself nearly as much during the ending of The Maw), the Anniversary engine runs quite well. I've had some torn frames and the framerate may have dipped slightly at times, but I've never seen the framerate take any large hit. And this is from hours of play across every single level.

That bug is an oldie. I had that happen at times in Halo 3.

You don't think they saw the framerate problems in the SP games? The severe framerate problems in split screen? The crashing?

I'm not blaming them for these issues existing. Bugs exist in all software, and performance issues in games are usually among the last to be fixed. I firmly believe they just didn't have enough time. Saying the opposite, that they didn't see these problems and thought the game was good, actually makes them look worse.

the dips to 30 fps omg everyone panic

the majority of crashes are most likely due to networking issues.

This sucks, guys. :( Bought my game digitally, and hearing someone say they got credit for Sunset Overdrive after talking to support is tempting me to do the same.

i've just been sticking to the campaign until the mm gets fixed...had the glitch with the master chief saga playlist where it skipped chapter 6(343 guilty spark) but still gave me credit for completing it

I had a lot of success finding matches last night. If I didn't find a game within 1-2 minutes of starting the search I would back out and try again. Love being able to play CE online, hate when people vote for anything smg/assault rifle start.

Things are FAR from acceptable when it comes to matchmaking. It definitely can be called as a "broken" feature. For some (include me on this) to find a match is very very hard, when it happens there is also a very high possibility to get stuck on the loading screen or map selection, and at the end of the match to have the game crashed.

So yeah... It may work eventually, but its broken.

Juniors are going in hard today.

It's not absolutely broken, it's just intermittently fucked.

Has nothing to do with Juniors. Not to mention your join date was 2014.

It's extremely broken. I got in one match last night only to have the host and his buddies dropout of the match after getting his butt whooped by an improper matchmake of 2 v 4. Myself and another player were the two. The other 4 guys never got a kill. I tried to get into a game before work this morning and failed again like every other morning since Tuesday.

Do some of you think they are just going to let the game stay like this and never fix it?

You're not teaching anyone a lesson by returning the game, you are just missing out on what is going to be a great experience.

I had no problems getting into a match last night in Team Slayer. Searched for less than a minute. A few times it froze after the match and I force-quit and just restarted the game.

Give them time to work this out. Don't go selling the game.

After starting Advanced Warfare for the first time yesterday I was occupied for hours trying to level up and unlock more stuff and hopefully get good supply drops. Call of Duty has a great way of keeping you playing.

I then jumped on Destiny to run the raid on one of my characters for the week.

Then decided to hop on MCC to see how it was to find a match. I got into a match pretty quickly and I just couldn't stop. One more game. One more game.

Not knowing what map you are going to get is a treat all its own. Its so addicting.

Actually that is factually incorrect. Don't condone people releasing games with glaring issues. We have seen this a lot in the last year. It's a bad practice.

Haven't been following the situation for about a day now; any chance of an update today? Going to bed now and I'm hoping to wake up to one in the morning.

You really towing the line with this one aren't ya?

The situation isn't ideal, I agree with you there, but to purport that 343 just said, "ah fuck it this is close enough" is downright insulting. Read some of Frankie's posts since Tuesday, he seems genuinely distraught, ashamed and apologetic. But I guess you could just say he's "putting on a show" for GAF, so whatever, believe what you want to believe.

The problem is that the blame doesn't really lie with anyone in particular. What's likely that it's a combination of pressure from, 343, Microsoft and likely a host of other parties to hit deadlines that can't be moved due to the knock-on effects this will have on things like advertising that's been bought, the increased budget, the revised milestone contracts, etc. On projects this size everyone is fucking petrified about not hitting milestones. Product quality is, unfortunately, not as important.

It's a whole host of problems that, at their core, are caused by the industry's insistence on running every project to the wire on incredibly tight schedules, with no room for mistakes. Until that changes and the industry matures this is going to keep happening. Not pre-ordering games will help, but I don't believe it's the pre-order numbers that are causing developers to submit broken products.

One thing I don't understand is how this got through certification. MS set the quality bar really high for any product that will appear on their platforms. How they let it slip for their golden goose is beyond me.

this, every loading screen I am crossing my fingers, this should not be the way.

Who's panicking? I had an experience and posted on the internet about it. I'm not starting a change.org petition to get 343i's game developer badge and gun taken away.

This game is not living up to its promise. Things don't work right, things don't work at all, things are "coming soon".

You go to a bakery and ask for a cookie. You pay for it and they hand it to you. You look at it and say "uhh, this is still dough." The baker says "oh my, I'm so sorry, let me throw that back in the oven for you. It'll be ready in no time!"

All the ingredients are there, just eat your cookie dough and stop being an asshole! Stop living in the "NOW NOW NOW" culture where you expect to get a thing that you paid for!

Still haven't gotten into a single MP match.....did get to the Library in Halo ce Legendary with a friend last night. But oh my god. It literally is a slideshow more than it is smooth.

How could this game be released like this, We were just laughing through most of it last night at the issues. It's really offputting towards giving 343 anymore of my money.

That being said I'm still enjoying the nostalgia from playing campaign and will push on through. Just hope they can make the game smooth, I could have sworn one of the selling points was 1080/60 or at least 60 fps. Maybe that is just online?

It doesn't sound like the network issues are the fault of the game - it's the new Live servers. They did test and Frankie said it worked well - but they can't account for third party servers and a million people. You know much more people are playing this than Halo 4, and this is their first X1 game.

Stop living in the "NOW NOW NOW" culture where you expect to get a thing that you paid for!

this seems like it was directed at me.

a cookie, and a multi million dollar insanely complex compilation of 4 games in one disc on a new online system are not quite comparable. One I have no patience for, the other I do and understand.

I think this is more akin to ordering a cheeseburger and there being no cheese on it.

Some people won't Care (I didn't really want cheese anyway) , some people will quietly and angrily eat there cheeseburger, some people will go ask for cheese on the burger, and some people will throw a temper tantrums.

considering the function of the alarm clock is to go off at a certain time... of course that's broken.

the function of a game is for you to play. Can you play matchmade games? yes. can you play custom games? yes. can you play campaign? yes.

ok then

Wrong. The function of an alarm clock is to display the time. It can also set an alarm.

I cannot play matchmade games. I cannot play custom games. I can play campaign. It's similar, albeit shitty analogy i know.

I am honestly curious as to what the common issue is for people who cannot get MM to work at all.

While it is not optimal currently there are issues, I can constantly get into MM games at least 90% of the time within 2 minutes of signing up for it.

For information sake:

ISP: Brighthouse
Down/Up: 60/20
Xbox One: Wireless 5GHZ on Open NAT
Playtime: 9pm-1am

I always backout and go back in if it does not show the list on the right side with searching.

After my second match.... Im stuck on the load screen. Looks like Im going to have to close Halo once again and restart it. I hope this counts to my stats because we won the game...

edit: Looks like it does. Im ranked 3 now.

Why should they be any different? I don't give a shit how hard it is to make the game, that's what those hundreds of people got paid to do. If it was too complex for the amount of time they had, they should have taken more time or spent more money to do it.

Bungie launched an always online game on 4 platforms, 3 of which they had never worked on before, where it quickly had 3+ million daily players, and there were very few problems. All console game development is insanely complex and multi million dollar.

If you bought a car and it turns out the airbags don't work, would you say "oh well, it costs billions to make a car, so I understand"?

I've never not seen "Searching..."

Have tried several times for 10 minutes or more to find a game in various playlists. Nothing.

Stats will probably get reset 3 more times by the end of the month, so I wouldn't really be concerned about it.

Ha good analogy. The "me now" mentality can't be applied to online games in my opinion. Too many random variables that could result in potential problems slipping through internal testing. Also, devs are under tremendous pressure and crunches to get everything out, especially if they decided to go for a grand offering like TMCC. When you buy a game, if it has problems, of course you have the right to be upset, even angry, but don't act like this is someone selling you a car that won't start. Programming and maintaining code in an online infrastructure isn't some one-and-done project that never needs going back to. There are always things that break, need fixing, need maintaining, need updating. I'm not sure why people are acting like 343 stole their first born child. I've been enjoying the game even with the problems. I'll see if I can get a match or two. If it's slow, I jump into a campaign. Going around getting terminals, skulls and achievements has been working flawlessly for me, but I understand other people haven't been as lucky. Ultimately, I know the problems will get resolved, and I'm cool with that. If 343 was like, "nope. you bought it. we've moved onto our next project too bad." That would be a totally different story.

are customs games just as bad as regular matchmaking? If not would anybody like to run some customs right now? I suck and I want to learn how to get better but I can't if I can't find any matches. I would prefer to play team slayer/FFA in halo 2/2a/3 but I am down to play any type of matches at this point.

GT: FadedRevolution

I've been getting into games much easier now but two of the last four games at the end have glitched. One time it full crashed on the post game carnage report and the other it hard locked at the loading screen after. What a fucking mess.

343 has said that if it gets to the 4 minute mark and you haven't gotten a match, back out and restart the search. I usually only give it 2 to 3 minutes myself. Also, pick playlists that are going to be the most popular. I've actually had the most luck with the Slayer playlist and Classic Halo 2 playlist, but I've managed to get a few games of H2A in as well. BTB has never found me a match, and so I don't try it often. Also, I don't know if it matters or not, but sometimes the game won't show the 10 player slots on the right with the "searching..." shown and instead shows my friend's list. If it's like that, I keep backing out and restarting the search or switching playlists until it displays correctly.
