Halo 2 was always my least favorite campaign. Now I am loving it. I am even starting to like the Library. 1080p/60 does crazy things.

are customs games just as bad as regular matchmaking? If not would anybody like to run some customs right now? I suck and I want to learn how to get better but I can't if I can't find any matches. I would prefer to play team slayer/FFA in halo 2/2a/3 but I am down to play any type of matches at this point.

GT: FadedRevolution

Custom games are... Ok... Once you actually get into a game.

Forming a lobby is extremely frustrating, in my experience.
Sometimes you straight up can't invite people, sometimes they can't join you, sometimes your party will randomly attempt to connect to an unknown session, sometimes your party will randomly join an invited player's lobby, sometimes the party leader will randomly change in a lobby or after a game.

Was there supposed to be an extended cutscene or something at the end of Halo 2, like the Locke prologue? Thought I read something a long time ago that there was going to be something added.

Are people forgetting that there's an amazing amount of content outside the MP. 4 amazing campaigns with a slew of options at the get go, why not go that route until the MP gets fixed instead of bitching continually about something that looks like it's going to take some time to be ironed out, I'd imagine MS and 343 are well aware of the issues and working steadfastly on getting them working.

Is this somewhat fixed yet?

Have the day free, thinking about buying this digital download to play online.

If you're in it for the long haul, like plan on playing this game for years down the road I see no problem doing this.

However if you are dead set to get into some quality matchmaking like TODAY... I'd wait, unless you're a really patient individual (or have some decent buddies to play alongside with).

Not gonna argue the semantics of "broken" here again, but the game is certainly FUNCTIONAL, but it is ROUGH and all sorts of weird bugs (both UI and networking) can and will occur.

Because we want to play the multiplayer?

It doesn't sound like the network issues are the fault of the game - it's the new Live servers. They did test and Frankie said it worked well - but they can't account for third party servers and a million people. You know much more people are playing this than Halo 4, and this is their first X1 game.

This is what I kind of mean about industry maturity though. If you're not 100% certain the game will work with the third party servers and a million people, then you shouldn't be releasing your product until you are. Beta tests, for example, have been proven as a great way to stress test servers.

It's such a massive risk to take. Studios can't just go "we can't prepare for that" and hope for the best any more. There's exceptions like the DDoS bullshit going on with WoW, but games have launched to a million players without breaking before. In my mind there's no reason why the MCC should be any different.

ISP: TWC
Down/Up: 200/20
XB1: Wireless, Open NAT
Playtime: various

I've never not seen "Searching..."

Have tried several times for 10 minutes or more to find a game in various playlists. Nothing.

Only wait about 3 mins in a playlist, if it doesn't find a match back out and search again. This is the recommendation from 343.

It's not fixed yet, but it's slowly getting better. I usually get a match within 2 minutes, and I haven't had any crashes since Tuesday.

Youre really luck. I had a crash yesterday and today I got stuck on the map selection. Also, after trying like 4-5 times (with at about 4 min period each) I could only access 1 match.

Things are not good. I would not recommend this collection to play online right now!

This is coming from someone who is loving to play the campaing alone or in co-op (even with problems creating party aswell). But for someone who just wants to play online, its highly recommendes to wait till those issues are finally fixed, or a lot more improved.

It was also my least favorite and I am liking it more. The new cutscenes are really bookending the action a lot better and creating a better mood overall for what is happening. I'm much more into it because of them and the improved graphics.

For instance, Cairo Station. In the old game I'm thinking "Oh, the covenant are here." After the new cutscene I'm thinking "Aw shit it's going down, everyone to battlestations!" Even if the gameplay is unchanged, my mood going into it is improved simply due to a higher energy and higher quality set-up.

Have you tried testing wired?

Yes, no difference. Xbox reports my speed over wireless as 199/20, and the other tests it does come back good. I have no problems with other games.

I don't care about the MP that much since I'm not good at it and it stresses me out, but I'd like to at least have the opportunity to have my ass handed to me. I'll try again this weekend.

Why should they be any different? I don't give a shit how hard it is to make the game, that's what those hundreds of people got paid to do. If it was too complex for the amount of time they had, they should have taken more time or spent more money to do it.

Bungie launched an always online game on 4 platforms, 3 of which they had never worked on before, where it quickly had 3+ million daily players, and there were very few problems. All console game development is insanely complex and multi million dollar.

If you bought a car and it turns out the airbags don't work, would you say "oh well, it costs billions to make a car, so I understand"?

yeah and Destiny didn't work right for at least a week. Plus daily/weekly updates. I couldn't play with people the first couple nights.

I understand that but in reality believe or not there's a shit ton of content on this disk outside the MP. IMO it seems rather silly to buy a product like Halo specifically for MP.
That's literally the only reason I bought it. That's the only reason I've ever bought any halo game ever. Guess I'm silly.

I couldn't care less about the single player and I will never even bother touching it. I bought this game because I love halo multiplayer and I was thrilled to have it all in one place.

Some people just don't enjoy single player. I'm one of them.

Destiny didn't work for you, but for the vast majority it worked fine. Admittedly I don't have anything to back that up with but I don't remember seeing anything about how much of a disaster launch was or anything. There's been issue since launch but I think the launch itself was generally regarded to be smooth, right?

MCC is the opposite though- anyone who is able to play Multiplayer without issues has hit the jackpot from what I can gather.

I think this is more akin to ordering a cheeseburger and there being no cheese on it.

Some people won't Care (I didn't really want cheese anyway) , some people will quietly and angrily eat there cheeseburger, some people will go ask for cheese on the burger, and some people will throw a temper tantrums.

More akin to ordering a cheese burger and getting a cheese string in a bun

One thing I don't understand is how this got through certification. MS set the quality bar really high for any product that will appear on their platforms. How they let it slip for their golden goose is beyond me.

because it absolutely had to be out for holiday shopping and to help push console sales. They'll fix it eventually, probably well before the kiddies open it on Christmas.

Last I heard checkpoints were working sporadically, game would crash with "untracked build" and achievements were sometimes not working. I've been holding off on playing MCC due to the overwhelming amount of issues, both MP and SP.

343: We made a mistake by locking Halo 4 terminals on Waypoint and not patching them in game.

Halo MCC: Hey guys, you can watch the terminals in the Halo Channel! EVEN THE ONES IN CEA THAT USED TO BE IN GAME!

For me personally I find that it's always best to factor in everything a game has to offer. Especially when you consider the kind of single player content available in a product of this magnitude. I'd recommend you give at a shot, you might just like it.

That clock is broken. Return it and get a different brand, but still a clock.

There is no other Halo. It's the only one. If you like Halo, stick it out and it'll get fixed. This sucks, but be patient. We're in such a culture of "NOW!!!!" these days. Bitch about it, complain, etc. But returning it is just going to make you not be able to play Halo anymore, ever.

Cultute of now is exactly why the game was released in its current state. But let's attack gamers....

Last I checked the MP for the series wasn't the only highly acclaimed aspects to it.

This thread brings out the crazies and/or trolls.

People have played all the iterations of halo multiplayer for years and up until cod it was easily the most popular online game for consoles.

It might be, or it could just be a weird thing on my end.

One more question. Since when they dropped some modes out of the playlist, have you played it? Or its the 1st time youre doing it till then?

Im not sure if I got it yersterday after the playlist changes.

Right? They made promises about a product and gave a release date. We waited to that release date and expected the promised product.

Apparently this makes you a childish impatient baby.

Its actually funny too because those of us with jobs and families and limited time to play games actually are the most annoyed because we may have set time aside specifically to enjoy the promised experience but now its broken and that time doesn't come back to us..

I primarily bought it for the MP. Beat the campaigns already. Reach is the only one that I truly enjoy replaying constantly. Second mission in CE is also very nice.

I've actually been able to find games pretty consistently.

Yes, you've been lucky =/

I've played all the campaigns many times. Still only buy halo for MP.
