Halo The Master Chief Collection |OT| Halo Never Died, It Was Just Missing In Action

343 had the final day to ship the game right? They created the UI right?

No, they outsourced that too.

It's pretty crazy, really. Basically everything in the game has been made by someone else. At this point I feel like Saber Interactive could make a better Halo game than Halo 4 ever was. :lol

Marvel

could never
Playing H2A campaign, it froze on me and locked up my Xbox :S my first freeze. I think I'll have to start that level fresh too, damn.

Gameplay.

It looks amazing.

I have to say though. If Saber Interactive was responsible for H2A, then damn. They know how to capture the feel of Halo, even if it was based on the foundation by Bungie. The remake to me feels like what I would expect from a next-gen Halo.

Maybe I am just too much in love with the sound of the BR, Sniper and Carbine.

Sure, however opinions from people have played it also factor in the excitement. Combined with the gameplay we have seen.

This isn't blind faith, lots of evidence for people to base an opinion on.

I recall Halo 4 received all kinds of gushing praise and the gameplay videos didn't look all that bad. Then I played it.

Did Joe Staten voice the Marine at the start of Metropolis? His mocap actor also looks a lot like him.

EDIT: Okay, it isn't him. Still though, sounds kinda similar. :p

only thing i didn't really like about what sabre did with the H2A campaign was the high charity levels. i missed the maroon and mahogany.

also, cortana's in-game model is a joke.

I thought the High Charity level itself looked amazing. They really made it look and feel oppressing.

it looked great, but i liked the reds bungie used for covenant architecture in halo 2. purple is a bit "generic alien" and i wish they wouldn't make everything purple.

it was great to see the red phantom shooting red plasma bolts again

edit: i really hated the new Hunter cannon sound. I switched back to classic whenever they were around because you can barely hear the new one or distinguish it from anything else.

There was also a massively negative reaction to 4 before the launch. The Game Informer reveal was awful.

Side note: I also played and enjoyed 4. So again, hardly blind faith.

Solo Queing is working pretty well. I was able to get into like 8 matches in an hour and a half. Some matches were pretty bunk tho. But hey, I got to play!!

I don't want to excuse this messy launch, but Gamespot changing the score to a 6.0 that's just silly... This only probes how stupid-useless numeric reviews are, by this criteria a lot of truly garbage games are a "better buy" than the MCC... which... alright I guess..

Man the side stepping this rep is giving me lol. The reason why I can't get a refund apparently is because game launches are stressful and I need to give them a chance to fix it. I've given them since Tuesday to fix this.

yeah I didn't get my refund, got the same schtick, which sucks because the first rep was about to give it to me and the damn chat froze

i'll give them until wednesday when the patch inevitably fails and then ill give it another go, will take it to a supervisor this time if needed

343 are doing a lot of things right with Halo 5 and are fixing issues that people had with Halo 4 (which were genuine, very much so). I am still iffy on sprint being in, you'd reckon that after the official polls that they would know that sprint is not appreciated. Not only for its direct gameplay implications but also for the fact how it alters map design; just look at 'Truth' and how immense it is (which in turn might lead to the feeling of 'trench warfare' again).

Yep, I agree. I have no problem lowering the score but to 6.0 is too low in my opinion.
Will they bump the score back up if they get the multiplayer working properly with the patch releasing this week? I doubt it.

So I have this pretty hilarious glitch going on right now in MM. When I walk around, it sounds like I am shuffling through the menus. Was this game tested?

They should be congruent about it, they already playing the change the score based on the current state of the game. If they don't, then this will be just a punitive score.

You have to wonder what does that would accomplish? IMO that would be detrimental for consumers, they would be reading a review that doesn't reflect the current state of the game.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ seems so pointless...

Yeah matchmaking patch is apparently wednesday
Nice. I am assuming my copy will finally arive from GAME UK Monday or Tuesday, and Wed is my first night off this week.

Though this also sucks because I will then have GTA Far Cry and Dragon Age to play...

Ok I have another thing to add to the list... If it hasn't already been mentioned.

Got into a team slayer pro match on warlord, was 5v1 in the lobby so when the game started I tried to swap teams... Hit start button and noticed a mix if English and some kind of Asian in the menu.

Stuff like this (and1th) makes me think it was rushed.

Fuck no! Halo: CE is horrible. Assault on control room, library and Assaukt in Control Room 2 negate everything you just said. Visual repetition is not the bigest issue by any means.
Halo CE is awesome. AotCR is one of the best levels in the franchise, and one of the best levels ever. The Library is probably longer than it needs to be, but it is actually quite a fun level filled with non-stop action combat, a cool homage to old school FPS games. And Two Betrayals, with it's great atmosphere and those crazy three way battles is very good too.

And yes, the visual repetition is really the only "big" problem the Halo CE Campaign has, and it is only annoying during the first playthrough. Once you get into the combat and start replaying levels, it stops being a problem. The encounters are so fun and replayable that you don't really think about the repetitive textures and re-used geometry.

Disagree on all fronts, especially the AI part (aside from the Elites). Halo 2 AI were simply far more dangerous than their CE counterparts; especially the Grunts and non-sniper Jackals who received mobility buffs. Hunters are more dangerous in Halo 2, as are Jackals since both of their AIs are less exploitable.

Encounter design in CE involves a variety of repetitive rooms filled with soldiers. There's no coordination between the troops as each AI tends to act more independently. This is less of a problem in Halo 2 but it is only really fixed in Reach.

Friendly AI in Halo 2 OG was an order of magnitude better as well. However the MCC version is apparently dumbed down for some reason.
Never thought I'd see someone say that Halo 2's AI is better than Halo CE's. LOL.

Halo 2's enemies may be more dangerous, but only because they do more damage. The actual AI behaviour is way inferior to Halo CE, which still has some of the best AI ever seen in a videogame (IMO only FEAR can compare)

And yes, you can throw a bunch of grunts and jackals and a couple of elites in a room, and it will make for a way more fun encounter than anything found in Halo 2. The AI and the gameplay are just that good. As I said, the combat in Halo CE is still unmatched to this day.

I actually LOVE the repetition in CE. I know it's frowned upon because it seems cheap, but from a storytelling and even gameplay standpoint I thought it was great. I loved seeing the corrupted version of areas I had fought through before, and looking at them from a different perspective by going backwards was a lot of fun. I also agree on the three-way battles, the chaos of Two Betrayals and especially Keys are unmatched on harder difficulties. You could feel the world crumbling around you from the tip of your toes to the never-ending tremor in your fingers. I would love to see Keys recreated current gen, with a much larger enemy count and fully destructible environments.

Yeh had a couple games myself, stumbled across one or two maps I hadn't seen from map packs before... One called orbital from halo 3 was a bit ordinary, too hard to get to the action at times, walls in the way, and a silly big death hole for no reason.

H2A splitscreen MP is completely unplayable. Feels like the game is running at maybe 15-20fps.

It's awesome in campaign, some drops but it's very playable (looks great too). What happened?

I've managed 12 games since Tuesday, not one has had a decent connection or been any fun. Only 2 or 3 have started with even teams. More than half of the games have split our party of 2 into opposing teams. The game has frozen twice during the CEA campaign and once it totally locked up my whole Xbox.

So disappointed :(

I have zero faith in 343 fixing all of these issues in a timely manner, they haven't done anything to warrant the faith that others have imo. I'd be very, very happy if they proved me wrong though!

returned the game to GAME. They didn't like it - were saying 'thats how the game is, they're fixing it now' and 'it isn't our fault it is broken'. I pointed out fixing it means it isn't currently working, and I wasn't blaming them, I just wanted my money back.

They gave me a refund eventually. Not sure whether to hold onto the credit for when the game gets fixed, or use it on Dragon Age or GTAV. I mainly bought it for splitscreen coop campaign play and I'm not confident they'll be giving that much attention - all eyes seem to be on the multiplayer.

I kind of wish I'd saved my money for DA:I, GTAV, or Smash Bros... Seriously, just fix the matchmaking and the frame rate issues, PLEASE. $60 seemed like an amazing bargain for such great games, but they somehow managed to make me feel cheated.
