No, it's the one from CE. Been confirmed and all that.

Ahhh ok

So another question =
Why is nobody legally allowed to go onto the Halo rings? Everyone human and Covenant know the Ring Worlds are giant super weapons. Wouldn't everyone agree that those things should be disarmed/dismantled?

I was mad that we didn't get to play the E3 2003 level in Halo 2. I had been looking forward to it forever. It felt like a bait and switch. I always thought the BR looked better in the video too.

Quite a bit of the stuff from the demo is actually in the final game, just in different locations. The only thing we're really missing at this point was Brutes on Earth and the actual level-in-one-space itself.

Because
nobody trusts anybody else enough to do it. The "Covenant," as a coherent entity, doesn't really exist any more. There's dozens of small splinter factions around, none of whom are particularly interested in working with each other or the UNSC. Plus, you throw in the fact that some of those factions still view the Halos as religious artifacts, and, well...

I didn't think Halo Nightfall looked that cheap and I honestly didn't think it was that bad.

I'm more confused by
how one of the chunks of the original Halo managed to warp a good chunk of the way across the galaxy when most of the debris from Halo were still in their original system at the start of Halo 2

The Elite in Nightfall looked like they copy and pasted a character model from Halo 4...Forward unto Dawn looked way better

Hey I've only played Halo 1 and 2, but can someone tell me who that guy was in the very beginning of Halo 2...? Can you tell me without spoiling halo 3 or 4?

For 11 years, I have been unable to tell for the life of me what I am looking at in the beginning of that demo.

I know it is New Mombasa. But what the fuck is that thing that stands up into the skyline? It looks like the city...random buildings and stuff...just in a weird shape in the sky.

My 13 year old brain couldn't figure it out, and now, staring at it, my 24 year old brain cannot either.

I think it's supposed to be an arcology.

Called Xbox Support to return my copy of Halo:TMCC and, unsurpisingly, they're seeing a lot of returns:

Xbox Support: "Hey, my name is Jen, how can I help you?"

Me: "Hey Jen, I have a pretty simple request: I'd like to return my digital copy of The Master Chief Collection."

Jen: *chuckles* "That is a pretty simple request after all the calls we've had today."

And we go on to very quickly and painlessly process the return. The conversation was very, "Is it because the online?" "Yes." I feel bad for 343i.

Its their own fault. I feel bad for me.
I talked to an acquaintance of mine that is a manager at BB and he said they are getting a lot of returns as well. Terrible first impression for those new to the series.

I give up with this matchmaking, it simply does not work.

I'm moving on from this collection, I'll return when it's been fixed. What an utter disappointment 343 Industries.

you should feel bad for the consumers dude

I'm holding onto my digital copy on the hopes that 343 and Microsoft fix the game. However, I guaran-fucking-tee I will not buy Halo 5 until well after it's out to make sure they work out the bugs.

I fully expect Halo 5 to be a piece of shit like this game until months after release.

Update: Still cant' watch Halo Nightfall after the first day. Digital edition. This is not a code in the box problem.

Digital here and I'm able to watch it again in both the Xbox and Windows Halo Channel app.

Consumers can get their money back. A day in and we knew all about MM trouble (even before launch). Some bugged out parts at launch have taken the shine off a lot of good work.

Edit: Or maybe they can't get a refund. I don't doubt the game will be fixed eventually.

Yeah, I think I'm going to ask for a refund too. The game crashes all the time and I can't get any matchmaking working today. I'll come back later on.

I'd say wait until the Wednesday matchmaking patch before making any decisions about refunds. Unless you perhaps have a limited time window (like only 7 days) to be allowed a refund...

Jesus people wait until after Wednesday before deciding if you're going to refund the game.

This.

If the patch on Wednesday doesn't fix things then getting a refund seems perfectly reasonable IMO. However if it does you're all going to be missing out because you jumped the gun.

The longer you wait the harder it will be to get one.
Get your refund then buy the game used.

This.

I hate to tell you this but in the real world people would have been completely reasonable asking for a refund after the first 48 hours.

Sure, however many people are saying they'll pick it up again when it starts working. Does that mean everyone is going to head back down to Gamestop and pick it up on Wednesday?

I wouldn't necessarily be making this assumption. Halo 5 is 343's baby. They're doing the brunt of the work for it in terms of architecture, UI, etc. with I believe some consulting from Certain Affinity and Halo community folks (like Bravo) for multiplayer.

I sincerely believe that many of the issues with the MCC launch stem from the fact that much of the work was actually contracted out to other companies. 343 actually did very little work on the "meat" of MCC as far as I know. Hell even the UI was made by a different company (United Front Games) and I think much of these issues stem from the UI and how it interacts (in a very unpredictable, buggy manner) with Xbox Live networking. This is exactly what this big matchmaking/networking patch is supposed to address.

Maybe. And even if so..why not? Give MS and 343 some crap for what they did.

For those who waited until now, it doesnt hurt to wait till wednesday. I'd recommend to wait, and if matchmaking doesnt get fixed, then go ask for refund!

I'll have to call next time cause they denied my refund online :(

I'll give it to Wednesday though

Get your refund then buy the game used.

And save a whopping $5 to $10? The game's been out for not even a week. You're going to be paying almost near price even for a used copy for a little while now.

Wait until Wednesday, if the patch doesn't fix up matchmaking then trade it in and wait a few months. If you get a refund now and find out the patch coming out two days from now actually fixes things you're just going to be scrambling to get another copy right away. If you held out on getting a refund until now you can wait 2 more days.

People need to tell their inner Veruca Salts to calm down a little bit.

Different standards for different products? If your bluray player or HDTV don't work right you probably aren't going to see patches for them in order to get things fixed.

The response was not unlike that of MGS2 - people wanted Master Chief, not the Arbiter and they were pissed about it. The abrupt ending was also something that upset people. Halo 2 was HUGELY hyped at the time so when it didn't fit exactly what people wanted they became upset at the game.

Also it had nasty texture pop-in and arguably uglier visuals than Halo 1 in a lot of ways.

I think it was just the let down after the hype combined with those issues that left people feeling soured by it.

I loved the campaign the first time through back in 2004, though, and have remained a fan. I thought the level design was a fair bit better overall and eliminated the repetitive areas of the original while providing some dramatic scenery.

Its funny cause ive never actually really played H2 extensively and ended up staying away from it over the years.
Finished CE and was frankly happy as its second half (after Assault on Control Room) is such a damn slog Nowadays. Not because of the gameplay mind you but because the almost complete lack of level design and overall aggressive cut n' paste sections. The "30 seconds of fun" loop will always been in Halo CE, but even that cant save it from the severe problems of the game's backend.

Halo2:AE on the other hand, has been such a breath of fresh air now due the sound design and weapon SFX having some actual balls and Blur's cinematics really fleshing out a sense of story and scope.
Im genuinely surprised how much I'm enjoying it and it may even replace CE in my franchise ranking.

I really doubt that. The game will have had three years in the pipe, and by then MS won't be as desperate as they are now. Maybe. Shipping a busted, numbered Halo game is one step too far, no natter the case.

Plus, judging by the beta gameplay we've seen, the game is totally playable and in relatively polished state already. It should be a functional piece of software when it releases next year.

They're processing a refund for me but this gave me a laugh.

First if I was a betting man I would put a substantial amount of money down that its going to still be a broken mess Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Second the Buy Sell Trade Thread and craigslist will be full of people selling their games that can't get a refund.

Do you only buy your games used at Gamestop? I can get any game 2 weeks after on craigslist or the Buy Sell thread for at least 40% off.

Im having no problems with Halo CE campaing. Already exit the game and turned off my XB1 (energy saving) several times, and never had a lost save issue. Is this problem particular with Halo 2?

I think it is specific to Halo 2. Even after the post launch patch, it still refuses to save at any mid-level check points. Whenever I go back via Resume, it starts me at the beginning of the level. I can't believe a bug that basic and blatant made it to release.

And I happily buy that game.
I don't understand what your angle is here?

If you're buying for that price, yeah, that's a steal. If you're selling for that price, you're getting less back than even fucking Gamestop will give you for MCC right now.

Back on point - if you've waited this long to refund MCC I think it isn't going to kill you to wait two more days. Hell, if the Wednesday patch doesn't fix things up you probably have an even stronger case to get a refund.

You forget that by Wednesday there will be at least three more high-rated games out in the store enticing these people.

Do they give the broken game another shot or just go for a new experience?

343 missed the crucial one week window they had until the November barrage. The question is whether demand will stay strong regardless, or if people will just plain give up on the game for something else.

I can agree that why not wait till Wednesday but it is true that the longer you wait the harder it is to get money back for a purchase like this.

In all fairness, Halo 4 launched without a hitch and didn't even have a beta.

Yeah, you're right. But honestly though if the Wednesday patch doesn't fix things, I think that will actually strengthen your case when asking for a refund. Because then you can pull out the "they tried to fix it and it's still broken" card.
