Like all of you I'm trying to play the matchmaking without success. It's so sad because here in Brazil the game became available in some retailers on 11/06! Since then I've been trying!!

Waiting so much for the patch. By this time I only could played the co-op that run perfectly, at least for me and some friends.

Who watched the second nightfall episode? It was actually pretty good, not HBO level sure but miles ahead of episode 1

Watched it yesterday. It was surprisingly good, a big step above the first episode and I actually didn't want it to end. The second stories that you unlock by watching are pretty neat too.

Thank god I bought this primarily for the campaigns. Let's hope they put out a proper fix and this doesn't end up as the game that first worked bad, then slightly less bad.

People are really selling up before they've even given the patch a chance? Wow.

Yeah, I don't get it either. You'd think most people who were immediately dissatisfied would have refunded/sold their games within the first 48 hours of purchase. If you've hung on to your game for this long you might as well wait a few more days.

Ooh I should check those second stories out, and yeh same here I'm actually really keen for episode 3.

By the time they fix the matchmaking there will be no one playing (or not enough people to be able to get into any playlist you want without waiting)

What must the average customer be thinking?, the ones that don't go to game forums. Does the game even have any messages explaining why matchmaking doesn't work?

I can see lots of these still wrapped as Christmas gifts. It'll be a shit show if this is still broken through Christmas, which is the only way the game will really die off.

The future looks a bit bleak for a Franchise that invented the whole match making scene 10 years ago that worked flawless at launch. At the time I believe Bungie were a team that bounced off each other in a perfect storm of great level design, Technology and artists.

Fast forward 10 years and this particular Xbox fanboy is massively disillusioned with the platform that got me into gaming in earnest on console. A sad state of affairs indeed.

Real talk. 343 taking the series backwards. They couldn't have fucked this launch up any worse than they have. So disappointing

So no update at all yesterday... what on earth are they doing?? Keep talking to us at least.. even if it is bad news let us know. In case you did not notice many AAA games came out this week... people will move on.

What a mess this has been... so sad about it.

The game's been broken for a week and a half now, they're not wrong.

They're not, no, and it's a free world of course, but doing that to me just reeks of impatience and tact when it's known within the public sphere that a major patch update is due out to correct the many issues that plagued the launch.

People who love Halo shouldn't try to resell this game, imo... unless of course SOMEHOW they can come out of it saving money buying at a discount later or something.

Too many cooks spoil the broth it seems. I think they were pushed HARD to release day and date 10 years after Halo 2 launch. The list of bugs found 24 HOURS after the release of the MCC made my heart ache. I remember watching the Halo 2 documentary on the Steelbook limited edition disc in awe. The attention to detail that went into the game astounded me and these designers, developers and general employee's instantly became my hero's (Frankie included ;-)

I remember seeing racks and racks of Xbox developer kits running instances of the game overnight 24/7 to see where the game crashes and any bugs that were found the next day. They had real game testers jumping up and down on the same spot over and over again to see if anything broke the game. REAL game testing; and it told. Apart from the occasional exploit (BXR, superbounce) the game ran like liquid gold with no jankiness. Nintendo level of polish.

Now look at us... Murdoch is a sad panda. A Panda that isn't looking forward to the next Halo release like an excited teen. A sad panda indeed.

See, if there's one thing I can't understand in all of this, it's the "Halo has never had these problems before" complaints.

This isn't a single game release. Logically speaking, you can't actually compare the launch of a collection to the launch of any of the singular games included in the collection.

Let's call a spade a spade, sure. 343i/MS/Cohorts, they effed this up. This is a black mark and some trust has been destroyed.

But for the love of pete people. Let's stop acting like 343 and Bungie have delivered flawless big collections over the last decade. They haven't. It seems intellectually dishonest to insinuate that that is the benchmark. There is no benchmark here.

We're disappointed because MCC was SUPPOSED to be the benchmark for a collection done right. Not because We've seen other Halo collections released more smoothly.

TL;DR - Collection Launch =/= Single Title Launch

What makes this situation even worse for me is how awesome this package could be/is when it works.

The updated visuals and framerate. The multiplayer suite with some nicely remastered maps. This package truly could have been amazing.

I'm still enjoying it when it works, but it almost makes me more upset due to how much potential seems to have been wasted.

Edit: This post was not meant to be super negative. I have enjoyed MCC. I am just considering what could have been. I still have great hope that the patches will fix this game and a majority of people will continue to play and enjoy it.

Also a collection where the majority of the work wasn't actually DONE by 343i. Almost every aspect of this collection was contracted out to other companies. I think there's almost a dozen in total if we include legacy developers (Bungie, Gearbox, etc.) Hell even the UI wasn't made by 343i (and that's actually where I think many of the problems with this collection are stemming from personally).

Halo 2 had a pretty good launch, but there were noticeable bugs and glitches that hampered the MM experience for me (BR was 5 or 6 shot kill, superbounces, objective items grabbed/tossed through geometry) and many of these problems actually weren't properly fixed until several MONTHS after release. Halo 2 was far from a "perfect" launch.

Yeah I dont get it at all. I wish the game worked better but I am already having a great time with it. I have played a bunch of mp, and am working my way through the Halo CE campagin. Broken Halo is still better then anything else out right now, and just like Sony eventually got DriveClub to work, 343 will get the MCC working well at some point.

I do wonder if publishers did massively cut on game testing, or if this is just games becoming so much bigger and complicated that the amount of testing isn't enough anymore.

I worked in QA for a while at a AAA studio and I can tell you that the bugs that people find after release are found by QA teams pre-release.

People seem to think that QA are useless but these guys are playing the game 12 hours a day and another team will take over for the next 12 hours sometimes. This lasts for a few months at least close to release.

QA is the shit end of the stick though, they get the blame for things like this, they are mostly temp workers paid completely shit money and they have to work ridiculous hours if they want to keep their job.

In my time in QA I found class A bugs that were released with the final game, one of them was mentioned in a review and the game was scored down because of it, the bug was known about months in advance of release but we couldnt reliably recreate it and the devs couldnt fix it.

Best case? Friday

Worst case? Sunday

Really really hoping for Friday. Would be nice to have a full weekend to play it. Just hope they release and update on everything today

Anybody remember the glitch with Elites in Warthogs that would let them physically leave their character's body, allow them to grab a flag, and then instantly teleport back to their body with flag in hand for a quick score? Yeah, I remember it happening quite a bit.

Halo 2's launch was smoother than MCCs but lets not pretend it was a smooth launch and that Bungie didn't take their dear old sweet time fixing some things.

Lol at people selling their consoles instead of waiting the couple of days until the patch hits.

Lot of people 'saying on internet forums' they're selling the game/console. It's venting, which they have a right to do. Some do sell, but most are less reactionary.

I'm really interested to see the aftermath. How 343 will explain, how the sales do, and how people will react if it's actually fixed. I suspect that "MCC is shit" will continue no matter how fixed the game is.

Sure, I understand this. I'm a huge Halo fan and there is no denying that the launch was absolutely shambolic. But at this late stage, at least give 343 a chance to get things fixed with the patch they've promised.

It's clear that the game was shipped unfinished, the writing was on the wall for this when the 20gb day one update was announced. Blame it on the pressures of releasing a game for a hard deadline, blame it on MS, whatever.

Everyone who bought this game is entitled to moan, entitled to complain. Facts are facts - game is in a dire state right now, but as I said, at least give 343 a chance to fix it before selling up.

Me too. As someone how got caught up in the immense hype right before launch but wasn't able to buy an Xbox One before I finished up some work, I'm happy to have been in that situation given current events. I'm going to wait and see what this patch does and how the community has and will respond to this horrible launch. I'm not going to buy a console for a wonky game with a dying community from the start. But I'm crossing my fingers. The MCC can be the greatest thing ever to be released but its not showing.

Yeah I thought episode 2 was great! Those second story things that you can watch in the middle of an episode are also pretty interesting!

where did you find the second episode? I was on halo channel last night and the only video, aside from the first episode, I could find was the making of or w/e.

The future looks a bit bleak for a Franchise

This I completely disagree with. Putting the troubled launch aside, the whole reason for MCC was for the fans - a chance for 343 to show that they'd learned from their "mistakes" in Halo 4. And also, the early gameplay footage from the Halo 5 beta looks brilliant.

Time will tell. I won't be involved with pre launch hype however. Looking forward to a game for months and months on end and delivering a game that doesn't work day one is too frustrating. Maybe next Christmas after the Hardware and Operating system revision.

Yeah the Halo 5 footage has got me crazy excited. I have watched every bit I could find and it looks incredible. This hasnt dampered my excitement for that game even 1%. MCC was not made by 343i, so it is silly to me that people are less excited for Halo 5 which will be made by 343i.
